As a bears fan who will probably see Caleb Williams in a Bears uniform I have to say I think Drake Maye if developed properly could be the best QB in this entire draft his processing is very good best in this draft imo
Drake won’t be top 5 in this draft class. He’s not accurate, can’t read defensive, and panics. And he really isn’t accurate. He will miss receivers by 10 yards. I’ll take JJ. He’s a leader and he has pinpoint accuracy
One of the big things I have noticed is that Maye does not have superior 'win' talent on the outside at WR or at TE the way that Jayden Daniels does. So many plays we watch where the receivers don't get open or even run the wrong routes. Meanwhile, Daniels has Nabors and Thomas, two likely #1 picks, to throw to and these guys beat man coverage like a rented mule.
why bring Daniel's in this? Stroud had Wilson, Olave, Smith Njigba, all 3 first rounders and Harrison Jr a future first rounder. Burrow had chase and Jefferson, no reason to knock on Daniel's for having great receivers. Maye coulda transferred to a team with great receiving talent but didn't so just judge what he put out in 2023 and not bring other players in this

J Daniels has superior talent around him. Like Bryce Young did at Alabama and Mac Jones also. I am not high on Daniels long term.
@@drdesai97 Because Daniels and Maye are in the same draft and are the next best ranked QBs after Caleb Williams. There's debate over who goes 2nd and 3rd, of course people are going to compare them. It's bizarre that you think people shouldn't. I don't know what you think scouts or NFL teams do.
He routinely misses throws that he should make and it gets blamed on his WRs most of the time, until you have someone breakdown the film like this.

The biggest thing I took away from this video is his line absolutely stinks and his receivers can't separate whatsoever. You'll make a perfect Patriot Drake, it will be like you're back at UNC 🤣

The Patriots once had this QB that couldn't run but was insanely accurate and made a pretty good living in the NFL. That man was a guy named Tom Brady. You know which QB that's available that fits that bill? It's BO NIX. Not Jayden Daniels, not Drake Maye, not JJ McCarthy. Drop down in the draft, let someone else take Maye (who needs a ton of work) or McCarthy (who hasn't thrown enough yet to evaluate his throwing ability), get more draft capital, and draft Nix (the most experienced QB in this draft class. Bo Nix averaged 318 yards passing last year, threw 45 touchdowns, and just THREE interceptions! That will get us another pick in the 1st round and the 3rd pick in the 2nd round in order to get a good wide receiver.
if Daniels and Maye switched teams last year Maye would go 1 overall and Daniels would be a day 3 pick

As a viking fan tho, there’s something to be said about daniels and how he to play with two stud wrs. That is something that not many talk about, knowing how to play with stud wrs and knowing when to give them a chance to make plays. I like that, to me that means he’d know the importance of having a justin jefferson and jordan addison

Could be all about what team he goes to

As a UNC fan- our offensive Cordinator in 2022 really hurt drakes development and we had no run game… last year Drake was really good but his o-line did not help him
Kurt it would help us evaluate if you would tell us who, in this case, he is playing in these clips. In other words, what is the level of competition. Are the teams in this tape mediocre teams with mediocre defenses? It’s very hard to evaluate without knowing the level of competition.

Almost every pass the comments Kurt makes are that his footwork doesn't allow him to make some throws, beacuase he isn't ready to throw or they hurt his accuracy. This is a full game minus the screen passes and it looks like a lowlight compilation. I don't understand how people can have so many things he needs to fix and then turn around and say he's a first rounder.
Lots of amateurs ranking NFL QB prospects fixate on physical attributes, solely. Every one in the NFL is stud. Your fundamental mechanics and ability to pre and, post snap process really determines NFL QB success.
Herbert fixed his footwork in an offseason. It’s not a fatal flaw, and if that’s the worst thing about him he’s a high first rounder all day.
Herbert & Josh Allen had the same issues. They fixed it & are superstars. Mayes issues are his mechanics/footwork. It’s what makes his throws erratic. UNC doesn’t coach it. If you can fix it you got yourself a superstar.
Herbert & Allen fixed their issues. That’s why people are salivating over Maye.
everybody needs work, but JD's mechanics are the best of the 6. Drake's mechanics are miles behind the other dudes, even Williams has happy feet and lacks consistency
@@kingwein89 Which is why people think JD is a finished product with not much of a ceiling but a high floor. Drake Maye has had success with bad footwork/mechanics. His ceiling is so high if you can fix that issue.
Can you imagine how good Drake will be if that is fixed? Sam Howell had the same issue. Josh Allen & Justin Herbert had the same issue. Not saying it’s a given Drake will fix it but if you feel as a coach you can fix it then the sky is the limit. The guy has a top 5 QB ceiling.

The Brissett signing makes him being drafted more likely. He’ll sit behind Jacoby for a year and refine his footwork and flaws. Especially with the fact that the Redskins signed Mariota who has a very similar playstyle to Daniels.
I want Jayden, but the Jacoby signing does show that Pats know who commanders are taking and are in communication. Drake Maye will be our guy in 2025 with some spot starts this year.
His offense did him no favors
I've heard him compared to Drew Bledsoe a lot, but I think he's more athletic. In my opinion he's more like Jake Plummer.
