    This is great information! I have another tip for iphone users; you can use a genuine iphone camera adapter (about 30 bucks), and plug the USB side of the charging cable of your wireless go 2 into the adapter, while plugging the other end into the wireless go 2 receiver. Then, just plug the lightning part of the camera adapter into your iphone and boom! You're good tog go.

    Hi Chris,
    thank you for this informative video and explanation - really helpful!
    What kind of headphones do you use for monitoring the sound during rec? As there is the 3,5 mm output free with the SC15-cable I tried to use TRS-headphones and TRSS-headphones.
    But for both setups the sound while recording is too silent. I barely hear anything at all.
    I am filming with Iphone 14 pro Max, the Rode Wireless Go II with Rode Lavalier Go on the transmitters and the mentioned SC15 cable.
    Thank you very much in advance! :)
    All the best,

      Usually, the iPhone Camera app works. You can test by plugging it altogether and then "tapping on the mic capsule". Then unplug to listen to the file you recorded and see if you hear the “tapping” clearly. Then it was the correct mic.

    What happens with the AI-Micro device? If I have to interview like 3 persons plus myself! This was helpful but I think I need to go one step further based on Rode's feedback. What's the upgraded cable for the new iPhone with the USB-C connection?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před měsícem

      I think when you have an iPhone with USB-C you can use just about any USB-C Data capable cable to connect the Wireless GO or Pro. It's just the Lightning connection where a special cable was necessary (however, I have not tested this as I did not upgrade my phone this time around).

      Not as far as I know. It would be best to reach out to the other wireless mic manufacturer and see if they have a solution.

    Thanks for the detailed video. I have a couple questions: 1) I’ve tried recording videos with multiple mics. The volume is good on the iPhone but when I transfer it to my PC the volume is really low. Do you have any suggestions for how to maintain sound quality when transferring from iPhone to PC? 2) I am having a hard time transferring large video files from my iPhone to my PC. Do you have any experience or suggestions for that?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +1

      1) seems you need to up the volume while recording. It does not make sense that it would "get less loud when transfered to your computer".
      2) I had the same issue. I used AirDrop most of the time. Some apps also have a way to do this via the USB cable. But this honestly is one of the main reasons I do not use my iPhone for filming very often 🙈.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't think that is possible. However, you can use the local recording which is done on the Transmitter to sync in post and have split channels that way.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +2

      I have not tested the stock camera app because I really dislike producing any kind of "proper video" with it. The fact that it is not showing me any audio meters always feels like it is leaving me in the dark. Maybe in the future I will test it but right now, that's all I can say.

    Will stock red cable of Rode Wireless Go II support Stereo/Split recording feature of RODE 2 with Insta360 camera? will the audio have two separate channels in the footage recording? And Insta360 Studio does not have the feature to mute the right or the left channel. When I did test this, all I got was single identical sound recording on both channels in the the footage that Insta360 Studio rendered for me.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety

      I don't know how the Insta360 is recording audio (have not tested that camera). In theory it should be possible to get the stereo split but you may have to use other editing programs (or use the local recordings on the Transmitter, sync them in post, and have split audio that way).

    • @YASAJTV

      @@ChrisSpiegl I just came to same conclusion myself as well. 1. Insta360 One R audio adapter is converting signal to mono. 2. Insta360 One R only accepts their own audio adapter, so currently no cables available. Basically, it is not possible to use Rode Wireless Go II stereo split channel feature in Insta360 One R. Thank you for confirming this.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety

      When you use split it means you can later on decide how you want to mix the two mics. If you merge you'd have to get the individual files from the transmitters to do the same.
