How to connect your Rode Wireless Go 2 without using the included cable improves the quality, so long as you use the cheap adaptor I mention in the video, best of all it means you'll be able to connect any USB to your iPhone and not just the Rode Wireless Go 2
I’ve taken your advice purchased the iPhone adapter, but when I plug it in to the rode usb to usb-c, nothing happens. Mic still not working… any tips?
@@jayhiakita4587 Do you have the Rode Wireless Go 2 or the original Rode Wireless Go
@@CourseBuildersAcademy thanks for getting back to me Andrew. I have the Wireless Go 2
@@jayhiakita4587 This doesn’t work, so I thought. The thing that made using the camera adapter connect the RODE was turning the RODE on AFTER connecting it via the camera adapter to the phone!
Excellent work. Thank you very much!
YES!!! This is a great patch cable idea. I was able to order on Amazon overnight ship and got it the next morning to record quality Rode sound onto my Iphone. The other cables are harder to get and would take more time to get. I ordered the lightening to camera (only) which makes this set up more stream line. Fantastic!!! Thanks again!!! Life saver!
Fantastic!
This was awesome! Helpful, straight to the point and no click bait fluff. I subscribed just because it was so helpful and time efficient! Thanks!
Thank you very much!
exactly!
Amazing video!!! So short and clear, with the best solution! Went to the Apple store immediately and bought it. Works like a charm
Glad it helped!
this was very helpful Andrew, thank you very much !
Thank you for explaining in simple context. Very easy to follow
Glad you liked it
Followed your steps. Even bought the adaptor from your link. Worked great!
Thanks Kevin
Perfect video for what I was looking for! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
This video is a lifesaver.
I was trying to look for every way that I could connect my wireless go to my iPhone, and I was really looking at investing in other gear.
Until I came across this video and I had that extra lightning to camera dongle sitting in my drawers for years !!
plugged it in it worked perfectly. Thank you so much. Absolutely amazing
Thank you very much Jesse, glad you enjoyed it.
I try this methods it’s not working for me.
I’m annoyed. Would it be my phone? I tried with a different phone and same thing ? Helpppppp
You’re my hero Andrew. This just saved me a mountain of frustration and time. I have multiple lightning to USB/charging port Apple cables I use when I run a USB audio mixer into my iPhone. I can’t wait to do the same with the wireless go 2. One question for you. Have you figured out how to run more than one Rode receiver into an iPhone or camera? This is great if the shot is only me and a guest mic’d up but sometimes I have two guests on my show which I think would require one receiver for 2 transmitters and a second receiver for the 3rd transmitter.
Thank you! It works and I have been looking for a solution. And, I already have this adapter. Amazing!
You are welcome Kimberly, glad it helped you.
Amazing video, does it work using the usb c cable to lighting that are now in the new iPhones?
Thank you for the precise and short notice explanation! ✨
You're so welcome!
Thank you. I have an iPhone 15 and I was first trying to connect my wireless 1 set. And was getting so frustrated trying different cables. Now I know it’s the 2 that will work.
That is such a great video, Andrew! Thank you so much! It as VERY helpful!
I'm glad you like it, thank you
Thanks for the video. I have a camera adapter that I didn’t used more than 8 years.
Today I used with my new wireless go II and iPhone ❤😍
Thanks for the video and to understand I heard it correctly, if you use the SC15 or the apple camera adapter instead of the audio jack method you will get better sound?
Hey! Thanks for the video. Do you know a way to plug a mic in the iPhone, + a headset or something to monitor?
I mean, we're trying to do some duplex via teams, and we would like to use a mic + a headset so we can hear the people in the teams call. And we want to do it on a smartphone :) Do you know a way ? Thank you!
This saved my process!! Thanks so much. Like and subscription from my side :)
Thank you Tim, I appreciate it
You just got a subscriber….right to the point with great information. 😊👍🏼
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks so much for the connection tip! 🤩👍🏾
You are so welcome!, Glad it helped you.
Thank you for real, I had a regular lightning to jack adapter and it didn’t work when I tried with the Rode microphones. I was scared that my purshased had gone to waste but I quickly watched your vid and bought the Lightning to Camera 3 adapter and it sounds so crisp and works well ! Thank you
your welcome
Excellent information
Very helpful
Glad you think so, thank you!
Great video! Subscribed. Appreciate you.
Thanks for that I appreciate it
I was so confused when I opened my Wireless Go 2 package! Thank you so much for clarifying what I need to try and get my hands on!
This is awsome, thank you Andrew. However, I have just bought the apple camera adaptor and it isn't working. Any tips or advice, please.
Andrew please, the rode cable USB-USB C is specific or we can use other cable USB/USB-C ?
What a great, tight, informative and fun video! Great work, thank you!
Liked, subscribed and rung the bell too. So where can I find the link to download your booklet?
Thank you for the comment. You can download my booklet here: bit.ly/3DGNOLw
Hello, thanks for the video.
By using the USB-C port of the receiver, is it possible to use the mini-jack socket to have sound feedback with headphones?
Yes, I think you can plug headphones into the receiver.
very usefull... well explained! thank you
You are welcome!
Hi Andrew- I see you keep saying this for the "mic" but what about the receiver? Does this same method apply to that or is the SC15 suitable for the receive with the mic's being wireless? I intend on using the mics via Bluetooth/wireless option. Thank you for your reply.
Thanks so much! So clear and so enthusiastic :)
Thank you very much!
Gracias!!!! Great Information!
Thank you very much for taking the time to thank me, I appreciate that.
wonder if that would work on a usb hub along with other midi keyboards functioning with iPad thru camera adapter
Thank you ❤️ really helpful ✨
You're so welcome!
please what about android phone. which adapters or cable i should use to get a better sound?
Thanks so much! Super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, thanks! I'm wanting to use the Rode Go II mics to teach fitness classes on Zoom, so I need sound coming out from the iPad so I can hear my participants, and then use the Rode mics for capturing my audio. This works with the SC15 cable (not the SC7), but do you know if your trick with the Apple camera adapter will allow audio to come out from the iPad speakers, as I need to be able to charge my device at the same time? Many thanks.
Never tried that
Thank you, Andrew. I am just buying the Rode Wireless Go 2 and this really helped me to use it withy ma Iphone 13 Pro Max. :)
Btw great video editing skills, Sir!
Thanks for the comment Martin
what do you mean when you say you can use it for audio out? I'm new to all this
Great I swear I have been trying for 4 months I lost hope in them. Great video brother keep it up. It worked perfectly 👌
Glad I could help
Thanks! This was really helpful
Glad it helped!
Thank you for putting your time in this video 👌👌
My pleasure!
Hey thank you so much! Is there any way to connect two wireless go II receivers through the Apple Camera Adapter? If so what cord do i need to purchase that will split it?
I don’t think you can
Thanks so much for this mate, mine wouldn’t connect until I tried the camera adapter.. life saver! Subscribed!
Glad it helped
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I want to ask you a question.
Can I use "rode central app" on my iPhone after connecting to "apple camera adapter"?
Don’t think it works on a phone
great information! thank you and greetings from switzerland...
Well Hello, Switzerland! The land of deliciously milky chocolate and beautiful watches!
Dude!! AWESOME TIPS!!!!!
Glad you liked it!
Which app do you download for rode mic?
What a helpful tip. Thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Thanks for your explanation
Glad you enjoyed it.
You’re welcome
This is quality content... no BS and provided the info that I needed! MUCH appreciate this... I am your newest sub! Thank you!
Welcome aboard!
Can I use the same method to plug in my Rode wireless Go II into my atem mini pro to us as an audio source. I would need a 3.5 to USB C cable?
Amazing video!!!
Thank you!
Nice vid dude...subbed ;-)
So you need cable to the smartphone? I got an Samsung s22 ultra and i am livestreaming on that, to my youtube for like 8-12 hours. So i really need powercable in the phone the whole time.
Fabulous thankyou - for someone not tech savvy this is a great help
Glad it was helpful!
great job my friend.
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely brilliant!
Thank you Sean
Beautiful tip! And the best part of this setup is that you can actually listen to audio output from the iphone while the Røde mic is connected! Love it 😊
EDIT: One remark: Unfortunately it doesn't work to change the db volume when using the Apple Adapter which makes the audio too quite in my case so unfortunately I had to switch back to the old red aux cable setup so that I can adjust the db volume of the Røde Wireless Go 2 making my videos louder. If anyone has a trick to still being able to adjust the db volume using the Apple Adapter, please comment and let me know
Thanks for that!
I have the wireless go me and I have the USB c / lightning cable combo. I have the apple HDMI and lighting adapter plugged into my phone, an HDMI cable to my field monitor, and the rode cable connected to my mic. I can't seem to get the sound to come through. Could you maybe help me with what I am doing wrong, please?
Great video! Can I use any lightning to USB adapter instead of the Apple Camera Adapter? Surely there won't be any difference?
I just tried with aftermarket lightning to USB adapter and it does not work. Still uses the Iphone mic when recording. Also, Rode central app does not recognize the mics. It says connect a device and when I do it nothing happens.
Does the Apple USB-C to Lightning making the same thing?
Do we also need the Rode App?
Thanks for the Video!
U should do a video showing the diff between using the curly cable and the usb c cable
Thanks for the idea!
Could you use the 'Apple USB C to Lighting' cable instead of the camera adapter?
Thanks my bro, you're the best🙃
No problem 😊
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Very very good video. Thankss!
Glad you liked it!
fantastic video - very well done
Glad you enjoyed it
how do you use the rode wiireless mic with a bluetoother speaker so that you can use the mic to broadcast via a speaker - ashes hagen ashes yoga made a video about it and sadly it doesnt work - a simple plug and play is not working at all...any suggestions to resolve this ?
Great tip, thank you!
You're welcome!
Does this work with the DJI mic?
So I have the iphone 15PM that has usbc now - so could I just use the usbc to usbc cable to connect the phone to the rodes - will that work??
yes it will
I tried to different USB-C to Lightning Cables (both OTG certified). Gonna try it with the camera adapter and if nothing goes the SC15. Thank you very much, I was already a little desperate.
Ima abt to go buy rode wireless go ii rn
Hi, this is a great video, thank you! I bought the original Apple Video Adapter and connected it with my new Wireless Go 2 receiver, and it worked like a charm. After a few tries, however, my receiver is suddenly dead and not reacting to any attempts to switch it back on or charge it in any way. Is it possible that this solution interferes with the battery of the Wireless Go 2 receiver unit somehow, because it seems to charge it through the iPhone once it's connected?
No I don’t think so, never heard of this happening
Does the last method? Work on the rode wireless me
You are a lifesaver. You have no idea how much this video just helped me 😩💕 thank you thank you thank you
Cracking video, thanks
Thanks for that!
Very good video
Thanks for the visit
great help, cheers.
Glad it helped
Thanks Andrew! Life saver! All the other videos I looed at were so noisy and...unhelpful. Happy to subscribe!
Thanks for the sub!
So what if u trying to use it connected to streamyard so u need to be connected to computer too right? Can u do that? And how if can
If you need to connect it to your computer you'd just use the USB out on the mic and connect that to your computer with one of the supplied cables that come with the mic.
Subscribed because this is very helpful and easy to watch
Awesome, thank you!
thank you
You're welcome
I wonder if you can use apples new USB-C to lighting cord they been sending with their phones
You can if you like
Great tips
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the good Tipp with the apple adapter, worked perfectly fine!
Glad it helped!
WOW! Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome
Than you so much, you are the best!
Thank you very much
Cool trick. I like the idea of (charging while using) But, am I missing something? Are you basically turning the Wireless go 2 - into a wired go 2?
No, the cable is only for connecting the receiver to the phone.
thanks Andrew! such a quality video! Is there any way to connect Rode wireless mic actually WIRELESSly to my iphone?
nope don't think so, would be good if you could over Bluetooth
@@CourseBuildersAcademy i saw one called Saramonic mic which is looks like the solution
Do you have to use the camera adapter? Could you just use Apple USB C to Lightning cable?
That’s what I want to know
This is the only way I've got it to work consistently. Ideally you could buy the Rode SC15 cable, but I think the camera adapter works better. I did try to get a standard Apple USB C to Lightning cable to work but without any joy.
The USB adapter is much better than using the SC15, as it lets it charge both devices at the same time. I had serious problems with the SC15 either not charging or not picking up at all when using a splitter. But if you do it via the USB C cable and the Apple USB adapter it works much better
Question though - will this record onto the iphone? I currently use that SC15 cord and the last few times I've shot video, it will record on the mic but not on the iphone which makes it really difficult to edit because I have to manually match up the audio and video. So either my SC15 cord is shot after only a year or there is some user error. But I've tested out every other piece of equipment and the cord is what I'm concluding to be the problem. But if I buy this one you're talking about, it will record the audio on the iphone with the video, correct? (And then I can just use my external mic audio as backup).
Yes this should record on to the mic, I use Filmic pro to shoot video on my iPhone as it gives me a little more creative choice. As for the audio it should record to the phone, using the USB to lightning cable the audio should also sound better
FYI you need to pair the devices first on the ‘Rode Central’ apps on both MacBook and iPhone for it to work! I spent like 3 hours yesterday trying to get it to connect (losing my mind because I was doing exactly what he does in the video) - then as soon as I downloaded the apps and connected them it worked fine!! 🤙🏽😁
For some reason Rode central does not find my mics. It says connect device and when I do it nothing happens. I have tried like 10 times with different cables and nothing works. I wonder if it wants the adapter to be the original Apple one
@@rumensimeonov8518 ugh mine doesn't work either! if that's the case what do we do because i've been trying for days to make these work.
@@rileygreene5904 I finally fixed it. My problem was the cable. Apparently you have to use the original cables for each device. When I changed to Rode original cables it recorded sound. When I used different cable it was showing that it is connected everything seemed to be working but when I record a video the sound was from the phone mic. So use all original cables.
@@rumensimeonov8518 I ordered the rode SC7 cable because I think that’s the main issue that the cord supplied is for cameras only, the mic makes sound I can see it moving it just won’t connect to my phone 😢
@@rileygreene5904 Mine was the same. Rode mics were moving and even charging with random cables but they were not recording sound. Only after I used the original cable it worked.
thanks bud
No problem 👍
What about using the SC19?
My sc-7 cable came In. Plugged it in to receiver and had lighting iPhone cable attach to it and still no audio from mics …):
