    Hello Chris, good video. I have wireless go 2 but I find the safety channel kind of useless. If the main channel clip, the safety channel would just be a low DB clipping. Almost like low the volume of a blow out sound in post.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +3

      Hello, the issue you are describing is a special case of clipping which the safety track can not fix: it's when the mic capsule itself is clipping. In that case the only thing you may be able to test to is to use the -20db Pad on the respective Transmitter/Microphone.
      The safety track is more for those circumstances that the mic cain on your camera for example was set optimally but the signal got a bit more loud to clip that so you have the safety track.

    Hi Chris, great video. With safety channel enabled what happens when two TX are used? Can you still split the channels for both TX1 and TX 2 ?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety

      When you use two TX units and the Safety Channel feature, then you will end up with both the TX signals mixed together into a mono track and that is recorded normal+lower volume.
      But you still have the option to get the 24bit wav files from the TX units after you are finished recording. Which is actually worth it because the quality is indeed significantly better than the one that got transmitted wirelessly.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I am having a tech issue hopefully you can help me, I am trying to connect my rode wireless go ii to my fx3 sound bar (just got this camera). I can’t seem to hear anything out of the headphone’s when trying to monitor the sound. I have it connected to input 1 via the sound bar and the headphone into the 3.5 Jack, but no sound is coming out of the headphones. It shows that it is picking up sounds, but i can’t hear anything. I tried it on my a7siii and it works fine, so I don’t think it’s the rode, can you tell me what I am missing? Thanks!

    Hi Chris! Thanks for video. What Gain Settings should we use in the range from 0 to -30dB? What does different dB mean for us? How Rode Gain settings correlates with in camera Rec.Level settings (Canon)? What is the perfect combination? Thanks!

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +2

      There is not one perfect combination, it all depends on how your environment is and what you are planning to record.
      Generally speaking, I tend to use the Wireless Go on the loudest setting and try to set the camera (also use Canon) as low as possible.

    Is there a way to change the recording length? For example, we had two separate recordings today where each speaker spoke for approximately 45 minutes. When I connected the transmitter to the computer, Each speaker's recording was split between a 31 minute recording and then a 15 minute recording. Is there a way to set it to record longer than 31 minutes in a session? If you covered that in the video I missed it, I apologize

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 4 měsíci

      When only using one, I’d either use merge or the safety track mode (in the latter you get one louder and one quieter side on the camera so you can switch in case the loud signal gets distorted).

  • @daniloestevez7248
    @daniloestevez7248 Před 2 lety

    Hello! why you recommend to turn off the safety channel when you are using both transmitters

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety

      I personally have the safety channel disabled. The reason is that it is only useful when you use the Rode Wireless Go II with one Transmitter and record that signal.
      In all other cases it isn't much of a use.
      When live streaming, you don't want the safety track, you want a mono signal. When using two transmitters I'd rather have both split (left & right) so I can mix them in post.
      Those are my main reasons to have it disabled.
      But, if you use this set mostly with one mic and you'd rather have the safety track, then it's very useful to activate the safety track.

Im Schnitt ist aber auf der Stereospur immer eine leiser als die andere gewesen, so wie du es jetzt erklärt hast ist das vermutlich die Backup Spur gewesen.

    Question(s). I'm overall super disappointed with my Rode 2, it sounds terrible. Don't know why. Was this video recorded with that because it sounds find and mine sound very very flat with too much treble? Do you have an idea what I can do? I have it on uncompressed. And have looked at many youtubers videos and haven't seen anyone really explain how to set the gain. . .what is the gain? Doesn't seem to make a difference as I change it. . . (?)

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety

      The video was probably recorded with my overhead mic aside form sound samples (but this video does not have those if I remember correctly). There are other videos on my channel where you can listen to the Røde Wireless Go 2.
      In terms of sound: I think they work fine. I do prefer to use different kinds of lavalier mics on it and rarely if ever use the internal mic - though my girlfriend really enjoys the internal Wireless Go microphone.
      In terms of gain: it's basically the volume setting in terms of how loud things should be recorded. You can either change it in 3 step increments or choose to set it up with the finer setting. I generally set the gain so that the meters on the receiver have the signal topping out in the yellow area.

    Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I have one transmitter than seems way more sensitive than the other. Like holding them side by side, the levels look very different. And when I've recorded with others, sometimes, it sounds like one person is just short of a yell while the other person is nearly inaudible. Here's a picture of what I'm seeing.
    I installed it no pad, no merge, no safety

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před měsícem +1

      Hi, I'd try to reset the devices and then see if that changes anything. As far as I am aware, you cannot change the Gain on the transmitters individually (only as one gain setting on the receiver going to your camera). If that does not work, please reach out to Røde support.
