I LOVE my SB-1000! And it actually fits in my small living room, under my end table.
20Hz at -3db is very impressive for a sealed subwoofer in my opinion. I think I will be buying one of these.
I gotta say. You are the best at explaining Hifi on CZcams.
Keep up the good work man!
Thank you for doing this review. It really helps me make the right decision. I had been considering the klipsch spl-100, which is not sealed, but after listening to your review and others, I know the sb-1000 is what I really want. Footprint is an issue that I can’t find with other 12 inch subwoofers. A 10 is good but there’s a significant difference to a 12, I believe. Thank you again for your time and effort.
Hi, great video :) I am going to purchase this subwoofer soon but I am a noob when it comes to audio so I have no idea about the whole procedure to properly configure it to play nicely with my JBL 305p mk2 monitors, do you happen to have a video on the subject?
Hi
you've mentioned that there is a High-pass filter at 80Hz on the Line Level Output (when you connect the front speakers on the sub).
Can you please point me where I can find confirmation of this info on SVS site or User Manual?
I really would like to take of the low frecvencies from the front speakers by this option
Thank you
Great review! I have one on the way
You really need to review rhe sb 1000 pro, your reviews are awesome
I love my SVS SB1000
I built my first 5.1 home theater system beginning this year with a goal of spending a grand and no more just to see how much I would enjoy this hobby and with that being said I cheaped out on a sub, I have a massive room with 12ft ceilings and the ss-ca9 I have definitely provides the bass notes for any experience but it is severely weak especially when not in the nodes of the room.
Thank you for the good review on this sb1000 pro sub. I believe it's the next move for my entertainment setup, I can't really justify spending more as this system is supposed to be budget and a 1000 dollar sub would be worth more than the reciever and 5 other channels lol. Until I eventually make a new system then I'll splurge on the high end stuff.
buy once cry once..... if you really have a big ass room I'd start with no less than a PB 2000 and up with the pb3000 probably being the best bang for your buck
with that said rythmik, psa, and hsu subwoofers and the new rsl speedwoofer 12s would do more for you for less than the svs
I have the sub and I have it real low and it shakes my floor. I am so afraid to turn it up. I have some work to do about phase but I love the sub. my speakers are not exactly on par with them but I will get that straight. I don't have the LED light on the front though
Great video. I've seen all your videos and helped me out alot.
I'm setting up my home cinema. Got the Q Acoustics 3000i set and now buying a Sub. But I'm stuck on deciding between the SVS Sb1000 or REL ht1205.
Please could you help?
I have the Qacoustics 3050i 5.1 without their sub, I got a PB1000 and it is amazing.
How does it perform at lower volumes? I listen to music at night when the kids go to bed. I just want tight clean bass at low levels.
hey mate, I've got a pair of active studio monitors (behringer ms40's) and they only have red and white inputs at the back. they are a weird set of speakers, because one is active which has rca inputs, and just has a passive wire which connects to the passive speaker. i am currently running an aux to red and white wire from my aux output on the laptop to the back of the speakers. how would i go about integrating this subwoofer? could i get this sub, run an aux to red and white from the laptop to the sub inputs, and then run a red and white wire from the sub outputs to the studio monitors? will the crossover from the sub affect what i hear from the monitors? cheers, great video, dropped a like and sub. :)
great video brad. Now that you did a review of the 1000, you should do a review comparing it to the 2000 in the future! Also, I would be interested if you did in-depth reviews of games with dolby atmos!
@sushiking56 thanks for the comment! I'd love to do a comparison video, but I unfortunately have to send the SB-1000 back to SVS next week (it's a loaner). I will be reviewing some of their other products in the near future though!
The 1000s are old school and svs doesn't even sale those any more this review is way behind
@Waymon French Technically, the SB-1000 was sent to me as part of the Prime Wireless 2.1 System that I received for review. I had never tried a sealed sub in my home theater before and figured I’d go ahead and do a review on it separately since it’s still a valid budget choice. SVS still sells both sealed and ported 1000 series subs. I don’t know where you got your information but it’s wrong.
@@waymonfrench2077 svs doesn’t sell the sb-1000 anymore? Uhhh have you checked their website?
@@HomeTheaterGamer oh ok no problem you did a good review sir.i think your the only one I know that ever reviewed the 1000s which is cool I check all the reviews whats coming next friend, keep it coming im subscribed
Do you reccomend DSP, etc?
I have a 850 cm cubed room and was looking at this subwoofer and the Klipsch R-120SW. The SVS is £250 more expensive here in the UK, but I'm willing to pay the extra if the SVS is a lot superior.
It will be coupled with the Audioengine A5+ Wireless speakers which are positioned on my desk. Do you think the SVS would complement these speakers well? I have read positive reviews of both, but I like fact that the SVS has a wider frequency response going all the way down to 29Hz and that the bass is really smooth with no peaks.
I'll be using it primarily for music and some movies
What are your thoughts and suggestions? Thanks
I currently have the Klipsch R-100SW... Only goes to 32hz. I am still trying to decide to go for PB-1000 or SB-1000.
PB-1000 is so big... Won't fit very well in my room. It will fit... But very thight.
it's $1000 in my country while the REL HT1003 is $770
, is it still worth the extra $230 over the REL or is the REL equally as good?
Unfortunately I don't have experience with the REL so I can't recommend it.
Great video. Im debating between the sb1000 and the pb1000 for my retro gaming setup. NES all the way up to 360 & ps3 on a Sony trinitron CRT.
I'm using a denon avr-x4500h and wharfedale diamond 11.2 bookshelfs in white.
Probably going with the sb1000 since they are a little smaller and it's available in white to match the speakers.
Decisions, decisions. 🤔
I’d also recommend looking at your room size/dimensions. If it’s a 10x10 you should be good with the SB-1000. If it’s bigger than that, I’d go with the PB-1000. That’s just my opinion.
If you don't care about port noise, I'd recommend going with the pb-1000 it has much more frequency response and will give you much more impact if you are playing more action oriented games.
Excuse me, this is random, but what song is your background music? Lol
Can i listen to music. I got dali zensor bookself speaker. I am looking for some bass is this good to buy
Yes, I have that exact set up. Music sounds fantastic.
@@ld4974 is it solely for listening purpose or to watch the movie.
@@prophetmars666 It's actually a desktop computer set up for me. I use it mostly for music, but when I stream Netflix movies I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I have dual PB-2000s in my main system, but for the full "home theatre" experience.
how loud does it get at 20-25Hz at 1m distance?
If it's able to reach 98dB it would be perfect for me!
But, how does it handle techno music or rap?
I've just bought one after a klipsch subwoofer I've bought earlier arrived faulty and returned for refund.
It looks like you have windows updates to install, you're getting that orange dot which means you have to restart for the updates to install. I can help you if you need it, for a price of course.
Correct
Just have to ask .... What’s this thing that American’s have by always starting a
review with “What’s Up” ?
I open every one of my videos that way, for better or worse. I feel it's a more casual intro and matches my personality. "Hello everyone" or "Hey guys, this is Austin" makes me sound like a cereal killer. (Yes I know, I misspelled that on purpose)
It's for people who don't want to hear or feel the bass. Go and buy proper ported sub and thanks me later.
Not quite that simple unfortunately.
@@HomeTheaterGamer Subwoofers are for playing as low and loud as possible. If you don't want to shake walls and windows you probably don't want sub at all. Ported are 2-3 times more efficient, hence better option. Unfortunatelly PB1000 is almost 2 times more expensive than it closed brother, and SB1000 is almost $600 in my country. This is a lot of money. Almost 1 month minimum wage. I think it's not worth even half of it price. I'm hugely dissapointed with this purchase and don't recommend it to anyone.
I’ll disagree with you. Subwoofers aren’t simply for playing as low and loud as possible. Their goal is to render bass effectively and as cleanly as possible with minimal distortion. Calibration is important here as well. Ported subs are great and I’m a fan of them for some applications but they aren’t as good in the transient response area as sealed subwoofers are (the time it takes for the driver to stop and start). Ported subs paired with a miniDSP also make it nearly impossible to get the subs aligned with your main speakers, something very important for smooth roll off between speakers and subs.
The biggest downside to sealed subwoofers, in my opinion, is that you need more power to achieve the same result from the same driver size and cabinet. That’s kind of par for the course. While ported subs may be more efficient (2-3 times is pushing it though), that efficacy comes at the cost of less controlled/ accurate bass that is more prone to boominess than the tight and controlled nature of a sealed subwoofer.
And also, keep in mind that mixing stages and movie theaters typically use both sealed speakers and subwoofers. Very rarely will you find ported anything in a commercial theater. There is a reason for that. All that to say is that for single subwoofer applications, I DO in fact recommend a ported subwoofer. But in a multi-sub application of 2 or 4 subs, I personally prefer sealed.
@@HomeTheaterGamer After all this time, something just clicked for me. Since there is no standard or canon in "listening to music," maybe what we call "good sound" is exactly the opposing thing. What I'm after with my sound system is that deep, visceral, prominent, colored, long-sustained bass. That extended, soothing vibration really means a lot to me. But what you're referring to as "good transient response" or "tightness" is exactly cutting off those sounds. What I really want is to recreate that classic rave club effect produced by a wall of scoop or hog subwoofers, but on a smaller scale, right here in my house. That's where my disappointment and dissonance with what most hi-fi guys on CZcams are saying comes from. You say that there are no ported subs in professional theaters, and I've never seen in my life a rave party or music club powered by closed subs, and there is a reason for that for sure. The scoop subwoofer is even something like a symbol of rave or dub, and it's definitely in itself a variation of an open cabinet.
All you did was talk let us see the demo
CZcams audio demos are pretty much worthless.
This is the review i wanted...
I am unsubscribing because you failed to tell me that it’s made in China. #PertinentInformation. I didn’t know this, until prominently displayed on the box as it was dropped off today. Bummer
Haha. Yep, because every reviewer of every product should state where the product is made. Yeah… I’m not doing that, because the quality of the product itself is more important than where it is made, as is the brand’s reputation for quality. I’d suggest getting out of home theater and avoiding technology in general if you don’t want anything made in China.
But anyway, see ya.
@@HomeTheaterGamer ok, I see it your way, quality is “more” important, where it’s built is irrelevant.
@@CMA1967 Nothing except some clothing is actually made in the United States anymore. The Chinese build better products. We cannot even develop and build a cell phone. Welcome to the real global economy.
You are absurd for unsubscribing because he did not disclose something YOU as a consumer could have easily discovered with google.
what a weird comment
