The Staff
A man was walking in the woods
with a walnut staff.
Another man came onto him
and made a sneering laugh.
"Wizard! What is that you hold?
Will you cast a spell?"
"Oh, no! Magic is not real!"
he answered meaning well.
They parted ways, the laughing man
still in doubled half.
But in a while as nightfall came,
the wizard lit his staff.
