You have to look over his book to better understand the characteristics of genres. It’s a fascinating insight into storytelling.
I have read a little here and there, as I like to do, and I find this book thought-provoking. For example, he sees the New Testament John, Mark, etc as a horror story!
I am not a writer...but it has always been a pipe dream of mine. I was always discouraged from writing by the lack of relevant how-to courses in college.
I have a background in philosophy and his philosophical to genre connections make a lot of sense. You can tell a lot about people by the genres they follow.
This concept refers to novels and screenplays but I wonder if it doesn't have some relevance in non-fiction. After all, some histories are the horror tale genre and some true crime stories read like good fiction.
I really like many of these videos but I always laugh when they say "99% of authors do this". Did they really make a survey of all the authors or even a case study😂
Horrible audio all the way around. Breaks in speaking. Music just interferes with speaking, especially for those of us that have problems pulling speaking from background sounds.
