    Great machine ! You can stop the rear brakes sticking by just changing the oil in the rear hubs and checking the handbrake cable movement, like I did on my 1594. I have needed to change the rear slave cylinder seals as I had one seize once. The oil immersed disc brakes on these tractors are really good 👍

    Good looking project Tom, sounds quite sweet considering it's been standing for a while.

    Hi best of luck with ur project they are brilliant tractors i grew up on 880s right up to 1690s gd strong machines great on fuel . Shel look greatvonce done up i worked a similar w reg on a class precision chopper made it bark but it pulled it well . Its great ur hydro is working as they can be pricey to repair . Logan mcmaster in ireland is a great guy to get cab trim decals etc for it . Charnleys used to have lots of doors etc they were for marshalls who used the the same sekura cab . Look forward to watching and seein how u get on . Pls take care stay safe .

    Can't wait to see more I am finished restoring my 1490 and when my project was over my lift arms will not work and were were working perfect before I started when I was witching your video I got so excited when I seen you with the same problem but then the fixings of the control valve was not on the video 😥😞😭 what valve was stuck and how do u get it out my arms will lift the link box up and down fine but if I stop the arms any were the lift starts to bounce very badly and the arms will not go down unless you stand on them but when you get of them they go back up on their own with the lift arms level in the down position I have the valve out but everyone I have spoken to about it tells me that even taking it out and unsticking them it still may not work would love to hear your side of the story. Can't wait to see your journey I have so much love for David brown tractors as they have been on the family farm from the 1980s and are still going

      If you DM me I’ll send you the pages from workshop manual. I think yours would be a different valve as different problems can be different causes but if I send you the manual, there is a troubleshooting section so that might help you

    I'm a db fan iv a 990 and a 996 ...been great servants for me... I think you have a decent project on your hands there... a guy called barlcley Williams is the go too guy for db spares and advice if you get round too needing any parts... look forward to seeing how you progress... be a good lugger of a tractor for sensible outlay I'd say 👍

    I'm not familiar with farm tractors, especially in the UK, here in the USA the brand Case is part of New Holland farm equipment. Interesting. There are Ford products available in the UK that aren't available here too though, the Capri is the Mercury (a division of Ford Motor Company) version of the Mustang, a sports car. Cheers from NY in the USA :-)

    I have a 1594 and I have been told the 1694 is the same motor except it has a turbo I really like the tractor it's a good tractor worth restoring.

      one thing to watch out for with the 11694s is they are all hydrashift, i have a 1985 Case 1294 and i am enjoying driving it, it's mostly sat in a barn and hour meter doesn't work and is stuck at 990 hours but the tractor is at 3800 hours right now it was 3600 during the purchase and i have done some work to it and it's still going :)

    nice,1690s are rather collectable now,a good freind of mine has a 1690 4x4 with a 5.9 Cummins

    A rebadged Case, no doubt. Steyer had ones like this tom

    • @dirt_and_diesel
      @dirt_and_diesel  Před 2 lety

      The opposite actually, they were David Brown made at the DB Meltham factory and sold badged as Case in the states and later in the UK. The Steyr one I think you’re talking about was a Case built Magnum badged as Steyr
