Super underrated in my opinion, honestly shocked people didn't like this at the time, well written, darker in tone but still really funny in parts, sets up a ton of stuff for Civil War and the other two Avengers sequels, always enjoyed it, James Spader was great as Ultron too.
because people just hopped on the bandwagon of infinity war and endgame, not true fans

Just like Ultron had some of Tony's jokes it would make sense that Vision had a similar sense of humor
I like how that last shot of Falcon, Wanda, Vision, and War Machine could be a subtle nod to all the eventual Disney+ series they'd be in

@@portalanimations2724 It was never a bad movie. But it was not as good as the other movies of the Avengers franchise. Ultron could have been portrayed as a better villain. The final battle also was not good enough and could have been shown in a better way.

My biggest takeaway from Age of Ultron was Ultron's mention of the Avengers' lack of harmony. That set the stage for Civil War, led to their downfall in Infinity War, and then found its rightful place in Endgame.
When Ultron talks all I can hear is Robert California saying something weird to Jim 😂

I love Age of Ultron
the last scene of this movie (with vision and Ultron) is probably my favorite scene of dialogue in the MCU. The different ideologies being represented so well with the subtle and calm acting by Paul Bettany perfectly contrasting the childish and erratic nature of James Spader's Ultron all ending with a quiet (almost respectful) death of the antagonist at the end in a peaceful wide shot. great scene that would have made a much more cinematic final scene for the film as the narrative was perfectly concluded and summarized with their interaction.

I’ve always said Ultron was one of the single most layered and interesting MCU villain. He’s a child, with a messiah complex. It’s amazing, especially because of James Spader’s performance.

I've always liked this movie and I love how it's getting more attention now. I do feel like saying it's "Act One of a three-part series" with IW and Endgame kinda cuts out Civil War which was just as big of an Avengers movie as AoU but is called Captain America for contract purposes exclusively.
Indeed. It is useful to watch Civil War and then go back to AOU and you can see where the cracks are starting to form.
But when you take it as a movie in and of itself it's not as good as several other MCU movies, and when you take as an Avengers sequel then it is a bit too similar. But it is fun enough for sure, and is cool with hindsight of other later movies.
You need Civil War to understand Infinity War so yes its atleast a 4 part series but you need (IM1?) The Avengers (1st avengers movie) as well.
Also because Thor and Hulk are offworld at the time

15:05 If I remember correctly, the Infinity Gauntlet is a left hand so this is either the Nano Gauntlet or Iron Man's right hand, further foreshadowing the ending events of Endgame.
I feel like the fact Clint's son was named Nathaniel being a reference to Natasha isn't surprising. Earlier in the movie when they first come to the farm, Nat asks Laura how "Little Natasha" is doing, and Laura replies saying "Its Nathaniel", where Natasha then jokingly calls him a Traitor.
One you missed - "Isn't that the 'Why We Fight'?" That is the name of a series of documentaries produced during WWII to promote the war effort. Cap's propaganda films are the equivalent.

I love this film. I didn't when I first saw it, because I was so hyped for the dark tone that first trailer suggested and when I got an Ultron with a sense of humour I was taken back. But I've rewatched this movie so many times and I genuinely think it's one of the most clever, interesting and entertaining parts of the MCU. I'll defend AoU any day
I also like this movie and I don't care about the haters.
Also it has pretty decent ratings so it is not bad.

I have a theory about the Maximoff twins. I think they actually are mutants and the exposure form the mind stone awoken their power and that’s how they have their powers. How I think the mutants will be revelled is because after tony hulk and thanos snapped the resulting after math awoken the mutant gene. So that’s how I think we could get the x-men but hey that’s just a theory, a really good theory thanks for reading
I like and agree w/ your theory. At the end of Winter Soldier, the scientists say that all other test subjects failed except the twins. They didn't fail because their mutant gene protected them and was activated.
Or the the stone is of the same material as the Terri gen crystal as seen on agents of shield and actually released to the world via fish oil pills...

I really liked the MCU version of Quicksilver so this movie is one of my favorites.
So his version of Quicksilver has definitely grown on me as time has passed and I've watched the movie 50 or so times. However, I'm really hoping Evan Peters is playing his version of quicksilver in Wandavision with a little multiverse help.

In the chase scene with Cap, ultron, and Widow, I noticed that when ultron uses his power to lift the ground he might be thinking of his evil plan to drop Sokovia

This might be the first or second best movie in the MCU movie for me. The tones, themes, and movie magic that this movie has. Foreshadowing, the fact it sets up Civil War, IW, and Endgame, and the amazing character development is so good❤️

You should've included how Agents of Shield connected by fixing the Heli-carrier that saves the people of Sokovia.
Agents of SHIELD is not canon in MCU. They do follow every major event from the Avengers line and the standalone movies, but no major event from AoS was ever reflected in MCU. Coulson is still dead after the first Avengers movie, SHIELD was disbanded completely after CA: Winter Soldier revealed them being infiltrated by Hydra, the organization doesn't exist anymore from that point on, while in AoS they still do run in background by several people, even by Coulson himself. So that connection works only from AoS to MCU, not backwards. AoS doesn't explain what exactly happened in MCU with the Helicarrier, they only gave us an alternative as to what could happen, if SHIELD still was a thing in Age of Ultron (which it wasn't).
@@Croftice1 It IS canon, but it splits off into an alternate timeline. To start with though, they're still a part of the same universe and it's all connected to the MCU

AoU is definitely one of the best MCU movies in terms of characterization and character moments. Think about the fact that it had to follow up The Avengers. That's an insanely high bar.
In regards to Ultron dying off-screen. I believe there's an old saying "Never count someone dead unless you have the body in front of you." (And in some cases, not even then)
It is like they ran out of money / creativity at that moment.

Age of Ultron is actually my fourth favorite MCU movie (the cap movies are my top three, I love Steve's story arc) and is definitely my favorite Avengers movie.
It acts as a great bridge between where we were before and where we are now and really shows how much The Avengers have grown as a family.
Honestly, AoU shows their dynamics and who they are as people, not just heroes, better than most of the others (Civil War probably comes in at a close second for characters and dynamics, but it's actively pulling them apart)
Anyways, Age Of Ultron is a 10/10 for me
I’m watching the movies along then watching these videos immediately after and I always loved age of Ultron but watching now after everything that happens in endgame makes it so much better.

I rewatched age of ultron, today; its definitely at the top of the mcu list for me.
That reference to Belgian King Leopold the II gave me chills. I teach about that monster when I teach the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.

I really like the Act One of Three approach with this, while there is obvious info missing between AoU and IW that wouldnt make sense if you watched them together as 3, the biggest themes of AoU do get cherry picked so well and placed into the rest that it honestly makes this movie better in retrospect
It's actually better to look at it as act 1 AoU, act 2 civil war, Act 3 Infinity War/End Game.
This movie had way more set up for civil war than it did infinity war.
This is great during isolation thank you so much and just while I am here I might as well mention that I have actually been to the place where the avengers upstate HQ is based on and is really cool
The Cap + Thor attack with Mjolnir on Shield is also later recreated by Steve alone in Endgame!

This is one of my favorite films in the MCU especially rewatching it and seeing it as the 1st of the 3 act structure. I really love the characterization and depth this film brings to the characters.
Holy cow! I usually think that channels like this stretch to make connections, but now that I have watched this, the connections that it makes and foreshadowing, it is mind boggling
