ONE THING I FORGOT TO MENTION: The speakers don't seem to be quite as good. Not terrible or anything, but the sound quality is just a little lower. Headphones are the best option.

In my opinion, the speaker on the switch sucks anyway. It's sad to me that my 4 year old Samsung has a much smaller speaker that is much louder than my switch. So saying it's worse, is really disheartening.
Also, putting a cord in it to play on the TV would effectively make it a Wii U.
Finally, a channel that focuses on the non-human Switch experience.

To be fair, I would turn off rumble in games that don't require it, so I actually had that experience at one point in Odyssey. It's more time consuming, but it's not a deal breaker. I feel like there's other games you'd completely lose out on with the Switch Lite experience though and that's what would suck for consumers. Especially considering the original Switch M.O was to play in multiple ways.

For the most part he is. The puppet itself is smaller. But for hand shots, bigger gloves are used. It's movie magic.

Now the real question is: Will Nintendo replace your entire console for free when the analog sticks drift in 3 to 5 months
I mean, more likely than not they would just comp you the repair job should it be an issue.
pretty much any repair other than liquid damage or a screen replacement is covered for free by the 12-month warranty that every nintendo console comes with (in the us at least; don't know about the rest of the world). and i'm not sure if they're still doing this, but in the past, whenever i got something repaired by them, they gave me a new 12-month warranty from the date of the repair
part of the issue with joycons before was that the ones that come with the console were covered by the 12-month, but any additional ones were only covered by the 3-month accessory warranty, and you'd need to have saved your receipt for that (consoles are automatically registered with nintendo at point of purchase, so you don't need your receipt for them). they've apparently waived the time restrictions on joycon repairs now, but that doesn't matter with the lite anyway
I'm insured for water damage and screen breaks and any breaks 4 quid a month insurance
I’ve had my Switch for 2 and half years and I haven’t had mine drift at all. It seems more isolated than anything
They are connected directly to the console i doubt they will ever drift

The creakiness of the Joycons! I'm not the only one. I am always concerned that the joycons move just a LITTLE bit in the original switch!

Nintendo claim they made the analog sticks better but they still have the same design as the joycons. Only time will tell but you're right, I watch spawn wave take the lite apart and holy shit so many screws. It'll be a nightmare replacing them.
Spawnwave basically confirmed the sticks are identical to the sticks used in the drifting joycons.
This is terrible as WHEN the lite gets joycon drift you gotta send in the whole console.

MatchesMalone The anatomy and size of muppets vary vastly. Big Bird is more than 8 feet tall.
The reason it's lighter is because the rumble and tv dock technology isn't in it. If you added those, not only would it be as expensive as the original switch but it would likely be just as heavy too
I really didn't understand what he was trying to prove here. You can't have your cake and eat it. All of that technology cannot be shrunken down for the sake of 'comfortability'. He would be asking to overclock this smaller switch and cause it to overheat more than the normal one already does. *facepalm*
That's another reason why I'm jealous of this thing even though I have a switch myself. and other upsides for me are with; A D-pad, not clicky buttons, same resolution, and it's possible to connect a controller to it, I also like the white and dark grey look.

I don't think so. Not being able to hook it up to your TV and play on a much bigger screen will probably hold a lot of casual people back, especially regarding that exercise ring thing they revealed a bit ago.

I'm likely going to get a Switch Lite for my mother when Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes out so she can have her own system. My big problem though is the name. Why didn't they call it the Lite Switch? Huge missed opportunity

@jesus barrera if you don't play on a tv, there's no disadvantage. Its $100 cheaper, more durable, and has a Dpad. So it really just depends on the person

This seems like a really good size and I do love the new colours. I already have a Switch, so I'm not looking for another one but if I were to get it, I'd pick the yellow one for sure. I'm just worried about the drifting issue... I'm super glad there were never any drifting issue with my 3DS, PSP and Vita. In fact, I've never had any drifting problem with any consoles until the Switch.
Also, considering that the Switch Lite is released around the same time as the new Zelda game. I'm surprised they didn't make a Zelda limited edition one, or at least make a green colour available.

I feel like putting Switches in pockets is part of the cause of joycon drift.
When I've seen teardowns of the joycons and descriptions of the graphite dust that hints at grinding off of the graphite contacts, I feel like perhaps the joycons are moving around too much while they have pressure applied inward.
I'd highly recommend not carrying a Switch around in one's pocket or any squishy space, to possibly avoid joycon drift.
I could be way off, but it's a thought.

Got mine yesterday and love it. The weight makes such a big difference that I didn't expect. I was like you and was bothered by the creaking and flexing of the original. After a day with it, I will be keeping my original as my TV system and taking the Lite with me. Also turquoise for the win!

Bought mine yesterday and I gotta say, it’s my favorite version of the switch. I love my switch and being able to play on the tv and/or hand held with my friends. But I prefer it this way. It’s so comfortable. My favorite part about it is the way it feels solid in my hands, and the way the buttons feel swishy and not clicky. Idk if it’s because I have much larger pocket that most humans, but mine fits in my pocket perfectly. I don’t want to keep it in my pocket all day or anything, but in a pinch, it’s nice to know I have that option. This is my favorite system ever.

I pretty much never use TV mode as is, save for the occasional couch multiplayer game (Smash, Mario Kart, etc.) so I had no problem picking this up and making it my primary switch. The lack of rumble is a bit disappointing but it is so much more comfortable to hold and use with the d-pad and better buttons that it's a fair trade off in my eyes. I'll still keep my original switch for the multiplayer games I mentioned and use the cloud save system to still use my save data on the OG switch, so overall I'm really satisfied with the lite.

Mine is arriving later today! Can't wait tbh. I gifted my OG switch to my little brother (who lives in Brazil and import taxes make it impossible for him to get one down there) a few months back but now I'm extremely excited to have my own switch again :))

@@Two49 i did not expect it to wobble, i thought Nintendo would know a way around it. I'm probably not gonna get the lite since my current joy cons barely wobble (got really lucky, but do have drift). Plus i really like playing docked.

The revised Switch has a battery life of 4-6 hours
it is so fascinating to see how people (in the comments) saw the switch lite as an *addition* or upgrade to the normal switch, where it to me just is a different option.
Like, the switch lite is not for switch owners, but for not yet switch owners that care more for handheld usability and the lower price than switch games on a big pc.
Edit: i was always very interested in the switch(mostly due to the amazing games) and got a switch lite, because i always loved proper handheld systems (still pretty annoyed by how amazingly the ps vita failed :/ ) and the switch lite feels great. would definetely recommend to people who do not own a switch and look for a handheld console mainly.

I think $250 would've been ideal for this hypothetical "dock-enabled and with HD rumble" model of the Lite, because of the lack of Joy-Cons.

We will probably be getting a lite for our kids sometime next year. We are already a multi-switch household, which actually makes it a better fit for us. We already have dockable switches, but this would let a kid more comfortably play off TV when the TV is occupied by another kid/parent on a docked switch.
I would upgrade IF hooking up to TV was an option! I love what u said about that my thoughts exactly! I do want that turquoise tho....
