Look at how happy the people were back then. They were great times. Damn it
Best cover version of this song ..... Bryan has such a sexy silky voice , noone else comes close
There will never be another 80s
Being a Roxy fan for 50 yrs. I can't believe I haven't seen this performance ! WTF! Brilliant !! Bryan's or Roxy's only #1 hit in England!!
Nothing like the way he did this moons ago. Still remembering him singing this, wearing his pale grey suit and pink tie......mesmerising!
That's the 70s and I am so thankful to have grown up through them. People were real..music too..and fashion and hairstyles so glitter. Loved the disco too...I miss those times. Loved a bit of Ferry and Roxy too...woah that guitar piece first time 🎶
You can see him right there at 3:04 sweating, just whistling through it, thinking "Oh, what a complete mess this entire show is - I hope this sounds good" - when Gilmour put forth the most intense, beautiful 24 second guitar solo ever done IN THE WORLD - and still you see Bryan Ferry doubting himself. That's, in essence, Bryan Ferry in a nut-shell, probably one of the most self conscious, true, honest human beings on earth. He came on stage to perform four songs and he nailed every single one with so many technical problems that would have destroyed anybody else. This entire show was wonderful.
It takes a genius to be able to whistle into a microphone that gently. He gave his soul and heart in this performance and does it EVERY SINGLE TIME he covers Jealous Guy. I love Bryan Ferry, forever, and I always will. He's amazing.
That’s the absolute truth about Ferry
Great set! Gilmour and Ferry playing a John Lennon song! Just magic
The coolest Bryan Ferry
One of the few covers that easily outdo the orginal....just my opinion.
This is so magic - especially the solo by Neil Hubbard, the solo by Dave Gilmour and the whistling of Bryan - LEGENDARY - this song changed my life ...
Chester Kamen not Neil Hubbard
@@shabbyroad2622 There's no mistaking the man playing that solo!
Chester ended up playing with David on tour a few years ago
One of the greatest songwriter ever, one of the best vocalist ever, one of the best guitarist ever. Lennon would have loved this
Not many people know that the keyboard player standing behind David Gilmour is Jon Carin. In 1987 he started working with David and has been a key member of his band ever since.
@majidp1981
and you're forgetting the Rog's years... still today running...

I didn’t know that and have seen him play with a ‘Roger less ‘ pink Floyd on numerous occasions since 1988 . Thanks 👍🏻
Beautiful, theirs a special lady for every Man....when you find her never push her away....nor let her leave.....
It was the perfect song to play at Live Aid for so many obvious reasons. That solo!
What a gorgeous man with a gorgeous voice…. love him ❤
Coming from Millennial. I bow down to these times. Times of pure soul. I was damn lucky I was born in the last year of the greatest decade of the world.
Great tribute to John Lennon. Love the white trousers with black shirt of the guitarist too
I'd forgotten that Mr Ferrry was at Live Aid, brilliant, great voice, well worthy of accolades for this Live Aid performance. Luv it!!
I like the way Gilmour points the cameraman across to the other guitarist taking the start of the solo...that's class!
FYI, the other guitarist is Chester Kamen. It shows what a true muso Dave Gilmour is by pointing out to the cameraman that the start of the solo wasn't him but Kamen. He knows he's already a rock music legend and wanted a super talented fellow muso to share the limelight. The cameras were a bit slow in the crossover back to Gilmour for his part of the solo but boy did he nail it.
Shame the other guitarist didn’t return the compliment!
@@MultiStrickland Dave Gilmour has a lot more time free in his playing than most!
But to be honest that Chester has only got himself to blame :) your playing alongside one of the greatest guitarists in the world!!! Of course everyone mistakenly thought it was Gilmour.
@@MultiStrickland Why? Probably didn't even notice what Gilmour had done.
A different Era, A different mindset, A amazing time to be alive and growing up. Thank God for the 70s and 80s. .music when music was real and people were real!
👍👍 So true.....
Right with you on that in all things. Seems like another lifetime ~ a much better one!
THERE WAS A LOT OF GREAT MUSIC! AND A LOT OF FAKE PEOPLE ALSO! ARE THERE MORE FAKE PEOPLE TODAY? LET THE HISTORY OF THE FUTURE TELL US.
Beautifully said, John. A time when people, music and everything else were real.
Time sweetens truth
Love seeing all the musicians on stage and these live performances what a gift to watch them again ❤
They don't write them like this anymore ❤
For me, this beats Queen
Love 2:01 where one of the greatest guitarists ever corrects the camera man lol ! Great song, great day, great memories ...Thank you !
Omg… this is such a beautiful version… first time hearing it…
As if the song wasn't good enough. We are are treated to a 1 minute whistle off from the man the musician Bryan Ferry . What a fucking PRO .
Bryan Ferry Jealous Guy (Live Aid 1985)
Bryan has that certain charisma that his fans absolutely adore.
My friend (Stevie and I) have always loved 🥰 listening to his exceptional voice and how he puts his songs over to his ever increasing audience.
He just has what it takes to make his fans feel ‘Special’
Well Done, Bryan.
You can’t beat Perfection, Can you. !!! Not for my friend and I) anyway.
Thank You for putting a Smile on our faces.
Oh yeah that way Bryan Ferry whistles that part of the song is still so much in tune 🎶😍👍
The best cover version ever.
I was 21 watching this at home.
One of the greatest days for music I've ever witnessed.
Ferry was/is effortlessly cool, and Wembley was a sea of happy faces enjoying a memorable day.
And Status Quo started it all off. RIP Rick Parfitt.
I was 21, as well 7/4/64.
What an amazing voice. I'm just noticing this little warbling effect he does at the end of words. And what an amazing career. I think Avalon is one of the greatest albums ever made. And his solo album boys and girls is basically just if sex were made into music. Thanks for being a part of my youth Brian , love you man.
I really like this so much more than other renditions now out.
That fantastic band had players from Roxy Music, Roger Waters' solo band, David Gilmour's resurrected Pink Floyd and his various solo tour lineups. It's so funny to watch Chester Kamen on the loose as a young guitar slinger. And yes, very typical of Gilmour to point to the camera man: "It's not me soloing".
Brian Ferry is an awesome singer. Roxy Music was a band that should have got mote attention. They were a great band.
True
It's heartwarming to know that John's song was performed in the live aid. If John were alive, he'd rock that stage but we're not that lucky.
Came for David. Stayed for that whistling solo. That'd be incredibly difficult to do on that stage.
Yes, i would probably "whistle" empty air if i had to perform live :)
Who else can sing like he does? Coolest man in the world
READ THIS. I'm from 1989.
This was recorded way ahead of my time. However, recently I discovered this song and since then I have been hooked. Far better than today's music crap.
I don't care if Bryan looks like he's singing into a double 99 ice cream cone 😂 this performance is perfection 🔥🔥
I was 19 ... I was full of dreams and hope!
A fitting and respectful tribute to Lennon.
Never noticed how Asian this melody sounds toward the end. Love it. One of Lennon’s best. R.I.P.
Now that you've mentioned it......
Bryan Ferry was awesome here. x
To this day I still haven’t heard a cover that betters the original - like this uniquely does - reminder it was Lennon who originally released it! As a live rendition, this is one of the best I’ve EVER heard. They don’t make’em like this any more.
Have you heard Lou Reed's version at the John Lennon tribute concert? That is heartrending!
*Lou regularly performed both "Mother and jealous guy" cover's at Velvet Underground concerts in the 70's, and 80s, but his own takes on them "of course".I generally didn't like his Live performances of the tracks at his own giggs, but for me the best version from any cover or John's, was lou's version at the tribute concert!
@@Rowlph8888An interesting opinion 👍 Ferry’s version went to #1 in the UK charts a few weeks before my grandfather passed away and myyounger brother was born which makes me slightly biased, I guess. The fact it’s the only #1 Roxy Music ever recorded and the personal poignancy linked to it,is why I hold it in such high regard 😊
The Beatles cover of Twist and Shout and You Really Got a hold in me were way better than the originals imo.
You should listen to Deftones’s cover!
It’s my favorite one personally. But I’m a Deftones fan so that’s probably why haha
Check out Donny Hathaway',s version 👌🏻
Absolutely awesome 👌. Bryan Ferry. Awesomely presented; he sang this song with true passion.
Unforgettable performance 👏 🙌 ❤️
Bryan ferry should be millions in views and the guitarist was bloody good to they nailed it
"that guitarist" is FUCKING DAVID FUCKING GILMOUR !!!!!! THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER IN THE WORLD!!!!!
@@DJDanceClassic It was actually Chester Kamen & David Gilmour if you really want to know.
In July 13th, 1985 in Hawaii where I lived, I was glued to MTV for Live Aid. I just graduated high school the previous month and was 17. Who thought at 17 that all these years later there would be an internet, CZcams, an archive of Live Aid and other videos of the past and that I'd be watching this today at age 51. Time flies. I do miss those days because the world although in trouble back then and in chaos was still much simpler and safer and fun than today. But like you all we make due with what we have and have to.
I was 5!! I can remember vividly watching it. Good times. I turned 39 the other day.... I'm suddenly aware of how fast life is going. We'll never see the likes of those from the 80's who gave us such talent and music. Today's music is dismal. My kids know more about music from then than now. My 9 year is often heard humming Comfortably Numb!!
Yeh I'm 52, it was THE thing to watch back then. I still return most weeks to watch the queen set to watch Freddie. You can smell the evening london air. No lighting show as well.
I was 17 years old too😃
remember this like yesterday
Brian Ferry = The G.O.A.T..❤
The first guitar solo is Chester kamen......second is David ....and David again over the ending .....Neil H is playing chords all the way
Bryan Ferry & David Gilmour. On stage together. Can life get better than that, really?
Paul would have teared up hearing johns song being sung live
Bryan Ferry is on his own level of cool
One of the Best cover Songs ever.
Master Band ! : David Gilmour, Bryan Ferry, Jon Carin, Chester Kamen... Fantastic.
Along with David Bowie, Brian Ferry the two artists with all the style and cool at that time. Roxy music were sensational!
The best version ever
Brilliant song and such as beautiful lyrics by genius John.
Well done Bryan, nice perfomance.
"Are ye dancin'?", "Are ye askin'?", "I'm askin", What care we for wind or weather let us all pull together.
David Gilmour ...the best....... Bryan Ferry sensational.....Roxy music......
Don't forget about Jon Carin
Both Jon Carin and David Gilmour were awsome so as Chester Kamen, who opens the guitar solo but... Phil Manzanera played the performance of his life in the original recording.
Saw him in 1988 at Great Woods in Massachusetts. Still the best concert I've ever seen. Totally dreamy.
My god when gilmour plays it’s just another level!
Bryan ferry is that much of a great singer they upgraded him to 2 mics
Who in 2022♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Bryan Ferry's Masterpiece
On my top ten list 🙏👍
Just 5 years after the assanitaion of great John Lennon. Rest in Peace
His voice just flutters, so amazing
Makes me tear up & get chills at the same time. John Lennon wrote this for Yoko!
If I could’ve been any rock star, I wouldn’t have chosen to be Elvis, Paul McCartney it even Mick Jagger. I would’ve wanted to be Bryan Ferry, not even close.
Bryan.
Bowie and Ferry had the best hair in the music world and the best style. But the shoulder pads are a bit silly, still that’s the 80s for you...
Forgot what rock critic said it, but Ferry was the only rock star ⭐️ who looked good on stage with a wristwatch!
Great band with a great vocalist
Best rendition of my all time favorite song-would love to have been there!
I was, best day of my life 😊
Bryan ferry wow..great version of john Lennon's song.. a great stage for the world to see it..and hear it. ..love it!!!!
Cool 😎 like only Bryan Ferry could pull off 😎
😊❤ Belo Horizonte. Brasil.
First guitarist: “how about that for a solo?”
David Gilmour “step aside my man”
Fantastic John Lennon's song and featured by Roxy Music...
This was nice 4 mins to spend
The best cover of all time.
Gilmour’s red strat was still in mint condition….🎸🎸🎸🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍
2:45 Carin and Ferry smiling, they knew David killed it as the audience cheers
2:01: David Gilmour to the cameraman: "It's not me playing!"
The best bit. Shows how great Gilmour is that instead of hogging the camera, he points to the camera man to go to the other guitarist. Some man!!! Legend 😁
Always an absolute gent
For those of you who thinks "@2:01 Say what now?" I think he meant @1:55. You're welcome.
is that david of pink floyd??

Tremendo!! Musicos 100%. Impresionante. Gracias por subirlo.
es un grande
Just a word : SUPERB 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Came for Gilmour; still taken aback by Chester Kamen's solo. Nice to see both work again recently.
Siguen pasando los años.Amo tu musica❤
