- In this episode of cabin in the woods, its getting close to the end. We start off by installing Crown molding (sorry, My mic dies), I show you the True Precision cabinet Jig while installing cabinet hardware, and then finish up the video by installing the final major piece to the puzzle...the chimney versetta stone.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things czcams.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.
Firstly: I am not a carpenter. In fact, I'm probably the furthest thing from a carpenter. But ever since I was a kid watching Norm Abram and Tom Silva renovating and building houses, I've loved this type of show / content. 99% of what I watch on CZcams is either wood working or carpentry. And too often the brilliant people who create these channels skim over super important details or go so far in depth that I'm watching a 2 hour video on how to build a stick. At least for me, this is far and away the best channel on CZcams. The content is in depth enough so you don't miss anything and learn a lot, but not so exhausting that your interest begins to drift (not to mention well-filmed and entertaining!). This is true craftsmanship at work too. This Cabin is stunningly beautiful and the work that Kyle and Greg put into it is clearly visible at every level. So, thank you Kyle and Greg for this latest project and this channel as a whole. I'm excited to see the Music Garage continue and see what you have for us next!
I think you guys should submit this building for an award. I also think you should speak to your buddy Matt Risinger and get his contacts at the Journal of Light Construction and see if they want to do an article. I'm positive there will be many architects and builders that would like to educated on this building. Excellent work Kyle and Greg. You guys are a credit to American craftsmanship. All the best from Ayr, Scotland.
I would definitely let Kyle and Greg build me a house!!!
Hi :-)
This.
@@gtuttle4 definitely!
You are a craftsmen and your clients are lucky to have you because you invest yourself in your work, a true rarity in todays world!
If someone doesn’t understand your feelings about this build, then they will never likely become a true Craftsman like you and Greg. Very nice work as usual. 👍👍
I really understood how you feel on your closing comments about being on a job so long that you have personal pride and interest in it and almost wish it was the wrong you guys do a phenomenal job on everything you do❤️
How this channel doesn’t have millions of followers Is beyond me. These guys are seriously some of the best, most caring guys at work in their field. Tremendous. Hey Kyle and Greg, remember when you installed the heavy stone on the fireplace? 😂
Haha
Greg was right, it looks much better that way!
Agree
The staggered overlap outside corners look horrible. The straight lines are heaps better.
Your attention to detail is second to none. Extremely impressed with yours and Greg's professionalism. Im also going to miss this build. Cant wait for the next one.
Be proud young man. Kyle, you have a good heart. Please, give a warm pat on the back to Greg. Two fine young men.
Your channel is so top shelf!
And you are right on the money about an artist selling a piece of himself in a painting .
You are certainly a construction artist.!
Great job and you added a cool soundtrack to this video. Furthermore you've tied it all together with some classic RR Buildings narrative (spoken word right into the camera) to sum it up. We appreciate you and the outstanding work you do. Kyle YOU ARE THE MAN!
This series has given me a level training I would have otherwise paid big dollars for.
My favourite build by a long way. Exceptional work, I am sure the client is delighted with the end result.
I’m amazed and very impressed on how just to two of you put up that massive impressive structure.👏👏
Your feelings are totally understandable. It's because you both put your heart and soul into creating something of great value.
Haha
Bittersweet is the word for the day.
an other RR Building MASTERPIECE!
Kyle and Greg have done great job can't wait to see what RR builds next!
This is definitely one of the biggest projects I've seen you work on, both in size and scope. Feels like you've been working on this one for a long time.
As a long time theater person, I know exactly what you mean about wrapping this one up. You put your heart and soul into doing the thing: the show, the artwork, the building. And then suddenly it's just done. It's a combination of happiness, relief, and sadness that you don't get to work on it anymore. And if you're lucky, pride in a job well done. The good news is, usually there's the next show or project to do. So you suit up and you do it all over again. You just enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.
Thanks for sharing all of your hard work with the rest of us along the way.
I think we all feel the feeling. Like a friend moving away. It's part of you being left behind but for the betterment of the world
I have seen several done to be a home, most of those were a like home/huge shop.. The few people I know who did them was because you could have a massive open space design layout.. I loved watching this build so far.. I loved seeing the newest tools and building methods.. I was an old school master carpenter, air tools was the new thing, a few years prior to me retiring... Now there is battery powered nail guns & lots of other cool innovations that in my day's was not even in an engineers wildest dreams... And I would bet, when you retire you will see innovations and tool evolution that will equally blow your mind... I just love seeing the younger generation take pride in the trades.. Be Blessed and I will be awaiting your next adventure...
That was an incredible build to watch. You and Greg are serious master craftsmen. Can't wait to watch the next build.
This is the first video in the series I've actually commented on, but I've tried to like the rest. I have watched from day one and I can't believe this is almost over. Though I am sad to see it go (soon), I cannot wait to see what the next one brings.
You put your heart into building that’s what’s makes it an beautiful building that mike homes can’t find fault .
I know what you are saying about finishing a big job like that, I build hot rods for a living and every time I finish a complete car that I may have worked on for 2 or 3 years it's like watching one of your kids leave home. Love watching your videos because I appreciate the quality work you and Greg do and it's a pleasure to watch 2 craftsman who take pride in what they do.
I understand the emotion, Kyle. It's because you guys care about your work. When you put that much time and effort combined with caring it's almost impossible to not get emotionally attached.
I'm planning a 40x70 post frame home because of your channel, love your work and creativity, and thank you for the idea. This is way cheaper and more efficent than I was thinking a home would be.
As a builder myself, I absolutely get it. It's because you've built it from the ground up and even done the fit and finishing. For me, those are the toughest builds to leave because you put so much time into the little details, which most of the time, isn't done when throwing up the structure. In my opinion, this build is your best quality of work to date. Be proud of it and on to the next one.
That kitchen handle jig is awesome - I normally make one when I do my kitchen DIY disasters. And custom home building really does make you an artist - you create one off pieces that will be enjoyed for years to come. Different to a construction crew where you simply frame walls or install windows or install kitchens in a series of sub division buildings. A true example of yours (and Greg's) quality workmanship and really should be shown off to the world.
My Mom and Dad put 20 Years in on the job... then had to drive their piece of work to the Cleveland Airport and watch it (me) fly away to Navy Bootcamp! I imagine they had quite a bit of separation anxiety just like you. Awesome work Kyle & Greg!!!
Love the work and craftsmanship at RR. Kyle and Greg you two are amazing. I’ve been watching this channel since Christmas 2020. I’ve learned a lot. My wife and I are looking at doing a residential post farm home in a few years. The pride you guys take in your work is amazing and it shows! Keep it up!
Watching at 2am from Aus, well worth it!

Based on what I’ve seen. I’d live in a pole barn /home in a heartbeat. Plenty of room with the freedom to lay it out however you like. You guys built one hell of a finished product for your customer.
Another great build. Fully understand your hesitancy of moving away from the job site. You and Greg have put a lot work into the project of which I'm sure your client will be very pleased with. Can't wait for you to star the next one.
Coming clean here: Throughout this whole series I thought this was your own build (as an owner/builder) - purely based on the fact that I could see how much care you put into every detail. Great Job Kyle and Greg!
When you're 100% complete give areally good look around inside and out.
I was watching this and thinking, "wow, Kyle and Greg have been there for over half a year. I wonder if they feel anxiety about leaving the job now because they have been there for so long."
Going to the next job would feel kind of like the unknown.
When I watched the end of you explaining how you feel, I was like, "There it is." Totally understand the emotions of being on the same job for so long.
There was a big part of your life spent on that job and I must say you have done a magnificent job. The owner will be very happy to call that home.
Master at his craft. I have the utmost respect for your work ethic. Great job you two.
You & Greg should be real Proud of the job you did there, considering you were 1 man down at the start, Definitely look around see how Great a job can be if you have a Great workman, Excellent job guys, Good job, hope the owner nominates you 2 for an American Workman Award!! Thanks for bringing us along. From UK.
I love how much pride you have in your work. Very inspiring.
I really like and appreciate how you include your guy Greg in your videos and me and my wife run out own remodel company and it's definitely a team effort she works as hard as I do so big props to you and your guys
You & Greg absolutely killed it on this project 👏 👏
That place is just so amazing ! Nobody but You could have done it so well ! YOU are a wonderful builder ! The way You make everything so perfect ! YOU are awesome !!!! Can't wait to see it finished. Do a slow walk through !
Just found the channel really like it it’s fun to watch true craftsman that are great at their jobs and I got to learn a lot
I’ve been watching you guys for a long time. This is by far your best work. To bad you don’t travel or I’d have you build my next home.
I'm just a guy watching the build video and I have separation anxiety.
God bless.
Rock on man I’ve been watching your videos for a while I haven’t seen all your you tube vids but I can say that you are what I strive to be or at somewhere near your level you take such care of your projects and just everything and especially the professionalism that you show is great you know what your doing man keep up the amazing work you do and never lose faith in your skills bro because your one of a kind
Congratulations, excellent work, after so long in this work I will miss you too.
thanks to you and Greg.
I expect new work as soon as possible.
I completely understand what you are saying. We have been with you and Greg all the way on this project. You should be very proud of this project and the heart and soul you put into this project. A job well done!
Post frame construction give you massive freedom for the interior layout…. 👍👍👍👍🎉😁
With your work ethics and attention to detail you would make a killing in Australia as a builder , I just love watching you guys it makes me want to be a better builder !!
It is only possible to deliver such results when the job gets under your skin, it becomes a part of you and you will never forget it.
Sure you got paid to do a job, and it will be so strange when you drive off and realize that you can not come back again as it belongs to someone else.
I have difficulties finishing a job for 100% just for that reason, to be able to justify to go back. LoL
Respect for the both of you!
love this serie.already miss it.and I am even not finish watching it.greatings from belgium.I really looked out for every new video of cabin in the woods.
This has been a great series! Good to see you and Greg do all the interior work. I really like modern post frame for residential.
Again, I continue enjoy your projects…. Learning so much… hopefully in the future we will be all watching build your dream home 🍺🔨🎉💥👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
I can see an epic build at home when you get your space started, can’t wait to see your Dad’s place too. I understand that bittersweet feeling when you have given it your all and then hand the baby over, I will and do cry every time though.
I love the moose and television already in place. Gotta have your priorities. Don't forget to give the moose a good vacuuming. I do it occasionally to my bobcat. Really fluffs up the fur.
What a very large and very beautiful fireplace the entire job you guys did is simply amazing
JUST AMAZING WORK. AND IT PROVES YOU A HUMAN BEING TO HAVE EMOTIONS . BIG THANK YOU FOR SHAREING .... ALL THE BEST FROM TURKEY
Great work guys! Watched with excitement from the beginning. I look forward to seeing the next build. You and Greg are master builders!
This has been a fantastic project from start to finish, can’t thank you enough for bringing us along for the ride, outstanding 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome job guys, it's been a pleasure to ride along and watch this series come together.
Beautiful job, i wouldn't want to leave either.
I've followed this from the start and loved every bit of detail you lads put into it. My only gripe is the choice of ceiling throughout the kitchen bedrooms etc.
The detail you guys have went into on this job is simply awesome, thank you for sharing the journey with us, looking forward to the next project.
About 40 years ago I took two pieces of sheetmetal and folded two sides to form half a box. I folded the second on the opposite side and spot welded them together to make a jig for drilling hardware. I"ve used it repeatedly for decades. The position of the holes has changed as the hardware and stiles have changed. To compensate and make sure I use the correct holes, I've covered both sides with tape and drilled the new holes. It cost me nothing and has been effective.Spot welding them together allows for flipping and using on either door swing. Since then I've seen where someone dadoed a 1x2 and cut and mitered the two pieces in a 90 and fitted a piece of 1/4" plywod in the dado. Then marked and drilled the holes for the handles.
I don't know what to feel as you said the project is almost complete and the series is about to end. It kinda became a part of my life now. Thanks, Kyle and Greg for sharing your journey on building this amazing project.
Love Greg and your work! It's okay to have emotions about great detail work that you guy's do! You're a perfectionist to the Tee!!! Math don't Lie!!!
Your monologue at the end was brilliant man, but I bet your channel has BOOMED. I can see you hitting 10 mil subs easy and that money will build you the best structure on the central coast of California with the finest Sequoia redwood.
Appreciate that and would be amazing but I’m happy with how it’s grown thus far. Always humbled to think people care
Who clicks dislike on amazing projects like this?
You've got to be the cleanest stonemason I've ever seen working. Nice job as always!
Completely understand, love this build series I hate to see it end
That fireplace is just WOW
I'm looking forward to see the complete walk trough Kyle! 👍😁
Can’t wait to see the final walk round. Great work from the both of you.
Watching this build from the start to now has been a great series, hope you get more jobs like this soon. Shows you and Greg’s skills to the nth degree and being a perfectionist like you both are it has to be perfect. Come build me a new home be frigging awesome.....
Amazing cut Greg!! Saw that all the way from Los Angeles.
This was such a great series. I’m gonna miss it as well. Your constant level of precision from the first post, to the final stone is something magical. You guys always set the bar high. Looking forward to the next build!
Excellent job, what you feel calls love, you put love and pasion to your work, well done!!! Best greatings from Argentina 🇦🇷
As with everything along the way in this build, today with the finishing of the chimney looks fantastic. Thanks for all the work with video and sound.
Awesome build! Loved it from the first second.
That last shot. Fireplace done and those big/long windows beside it looks amazing. Can not wait for the "final" walk around. Job well done guys.
project is looking good. small tip, its good to hit the entire face when you do your highest grit (220 here) so whatever finish is applied goes evenly, else it may have a different sheen below and call attention to the plugged area. thanks for sharing the content.
This has been an amazing build. It has taught me a lot of new techniques and I thank you both for this. Looking forward to you next build.
I get it. You are totally justified feeling that way. Beautiful project! Love your videos!
Best manager I ever had said, "If a project fails it's my fault, if it succeeds, the whole team did it."
It's been awesome watching this building take shape from the beginning to now the end. You and Greg did a super job on this project and I will be looking forward to the final walk through!
Loved watching this project from day 1. Really enjoyed coming along on the journey. Privileged to watch this and onto the next job.
I think that you and Greg should at the least be invited to the first Party. You do leave a part of yourself in the building and it’s not a good feeling when you walk away. Hopefully the client will realise that you two have given the building its soul and now it’s up to him to make it a home. This series has been truly amazing and it’s been good watching you do things outside of your comfort zone. You also have completed those other tasks with the same degree of perfection. Thank you for taking us along on this great build.
You’re right. It’s a big deal to leave this project! I gotta see it after some furniture is moved it. I need a tour of this awesome facility!
Kyle, you feel that "separation anxiety" thing because of the way you work...putting so much of yourself into producing the best you have to offer to the task/project at hand. Your customers will appreciate you for being above and beyond!
Awesome job. The fireplace looks great. Looking forward to seeing the final.
Ive felt that to man. Spending a year or so at a site it starts to become routine and part of you. Great job on the build
The Versetta Stone is an amazing product. You and Greg have done a great job on this build. I understand the feeling you have about leaving this project, as I have grown to like seeing the progress. You get attached and want it to be all yours.
Chimney looks Fanfreakintastic! But I would’ve put a an angle on the first section before it’s gets smaller to match the pitch of the roof. Still looks awesome though. Great Job Kyle and Greg. I’m looking forward to the next Project/Series!!!
My thoughts too.
What a fantastic project! Everything looks great 💪👌
I hope you didn't forget to adjust the upper cabinets, doors didn't look even to each other
The passion u bring to your craft is what sets u apart! Great stuff
I've had the tru precision for almost 10 years, can't imagine another hardware install without it!!!
Turned out GREAT!!! Ready for the next Job.
Haven't watched the whole series.. But pulling it in.. So close 2 "on schedule"..(I'd call it on schedule) is inspiring. I appreciate U documenting your work. I am late stepping up 2 the plate.. But I'd like 2 do something similar.
Started watching Wadsworth.. He turned me into Rissinger.. He turned me into U. Well done. Thank U. Love
