Wow! This is such a great, honest, down-to-earth review. I am a fan of Frederic Malle, but was wary of Musc Ravageur because of the name and my bad experience with musk type fragrances. But you have completely changed my mind. I am ordering a small sample to try as we speak. I recently ordered some FM samples on eBay (Lipstick Rose, En Passant, POAL) and received a complimentary sample of Geurlain's Shalimar as part of my order. When I had first started my fragrance journey a few years ago, my first order of business was to order a very vintage bottle of Shalimar from eBay. The bottle was beautiful with a glass stopped, but the juice inside was apparently spoiled because I did not like it much and there were things floating in it. Anyway, long story short, your review prompted me to spray Shalimar (the new sample) just now, and WOW... I finally understand. What an intoxicating, fresh, clean, playful, yet sultry scent! I love your channel. I can't wait to smell FM's MR. :)
FYI this fragrance is fantastic, I didn't like it at first sniff so I left it on shelf for 3month and then the magic happen so let it dry down on piece of paper and it will last for a week and try portrait of lady woowwww
@@natsudia4265 I will try that! But I didn't really like Portait of a Lady. It's a bit heavy and cold to me (I know that's a weird statement considering popular opinion). I wonder if I need to try it during the winter?

I was always on the fence with this one since I smelled it next to POAL and Vetiver Extraordinaire and simply preferred those more at the time. I suppose I thought it was going to be a lot more musky too; but you can always layer it with Kiehl's Original Musk for added effect. Your reactions tell a story all by themselves! 😂 It's amazing the degree to which the "wow" perfumes can have a tangible effect on our lives. Never let those ones go.

Good afternoon Pam, Maybe you can help me? I have been wearing Lolita lempicka L epd. This came out in 2006 and they stopped making it. I live in the Netherlands and they still sell to old ones but they turned brown. They smell bad. On fragantica they say this sent remindes me of musc ravageur. I woul love your view. Love Veronique
Great fragrances. If you want something in the same realm you try give Chanel Le Lion a try, also similar to both of these and also animalic but instead of using musk or civet they use labdanum to give it it's animalic touches. I own all 3 and enjoy them all the same.
I never liked Shalimar despite it's reputation. My Grandmother used to wear it. She did have good taste in general though. Just too powdery. Men and women seem to like this, although many also do not like it at all.
100% similar to Shalimar EdP. But Musc Ravageur to me smells much warmer and more sensual in comparison. I like Shalimar but *LOVE* Musc Ravageur.

It was more muscy / more dirty with more power (sillage and durability).
