- I ordered a new batch of Kaffir Lime fruits from Etsy. I show you how I break down the fruit and step by step, how to successfully harvest and germinate kaffir lime seeds. These seeds will grow into the Kaffir lime tree that will produce many edible leaves. Kaffir Lime leaves are incredibly fragrant and flavorful. It is used in a lot of Southeast Asian cuisines. Many people enjoy growing these trees themselves. Can you germinate Kaffir Lime seeds from the fruit? Yes you can! I have many other videos on my channel where I cook with the leaves and zest. Check it out :)

I highly recommend germinating seeds from fresh Kaffir lime fruits to increase the germination rate. Sometimes the dried seeds you buy online are old and no longer viable, it's a hit or miss. With fresh Kaffir lime fruits, you can guarantee healthier seeds. Happy gardening!
I love the aesthetics of your channel, it brings peace and calm and soothing to otherwise mundane subjects. Subscriber here :-)
Thank you so much for the kind words and for your supportđ
Merci pour cette video de qualitĂŠ.
Thank you for sharing the proceed video...
I will wait for the Kaffir lime fruits then try this method of propagating by seeds. Thank you for posting đđ˝
Too long to wait for the plant to bear fruit. Buy a ripe lime and grow.
Youâre so good at germinating the kaffir seeds now!
Thank you so much ! It's a lot of fun watching them grow
I have a nice Kaffir lime tree - this year I got 3 limes. I just picked the biggest one (there were only 3 seeds). I watched your video and I have one seedling! Thank you!
That's awesome that you were able to germinate the seeds. It's fun to watch them grow too. Thank you for watching!
Hello from đ¨đŚ. Your video is very relaxing. I am going to plant my germinated seeds today. Hopefully I will get fruits in a few years! Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic đđđ
Very helpful, thank you
No problem, thank you for watching!
Yes i like it
Awesome I need to try it I have a heat nat haven't been using them
Yea, please give it a try and let me know how it goes đ
Use the fruit itself to clean your hair too. Helps get rid of build up. My mother in law from Thailand had me try it and it worked so well. I only wish I could find the fresh fruit here in Massachusetts so I can grow some plants in the house. I use to have a couple plants indoors when we lived in Michigan but they both died and not sure what I did wrong.
Hi where you live that you can grow thai lime Iâm in upstate
I found this so fascinating that i looked and found seeds on ebay...although i'll try to get a fruit first. Thanks :)
I highly recommend buying the fruit instead and harvesting and germinating the seeds that way. Many of the dried seeds you buy online may be old and may not germinate. I had a lot of luck with germinating seeds from fresh Kaffir lime fruit from the Etsy website. Type Kaffir lime fruit on the site and several vendors will pop up. Make sure their review is good đ
@@ThunThunChannel I had to order dried seeds from Sri Lanka from that website because I couldn't order fresh fruits to Germany. 3 of 5 seeds germinated, which is quite okay I think.
@@julian532 That's really good for dried seeds. I hope you'll get an abundance of fragrance leaves in the near future đ
Do you sales of the Karffir lime tree, fruit or seed? I bought 1 tree was 5feets but it was dead đ˘
Would kaffir lime plant do well in winter indoors?
This is not an easy plant to grow, but I was successsful using this method. I had 4 plants.
That's amazing! I'm glad you were able to germinate some. I find the highest germination rate comes from freshly harvested seeds rather than dried seeds. They love lots of light, humidity, and warmth. Thank you for watching!
What do you mean HAD? đ
@@ARS-fn6px Sorry, I mean I was successful in growing 4 plants from seedlings. Previously, I just bury the whole fruit..and it did not germinate. đđ
Thank you for this video - Just a question - Do you seal the zip lock bag? And do you add extra water during the week (or so) it takes to germinate in the zip lock bag??
Thank you for watching. Yes, I seal the bag and no extra water is added during the week. The moist paper towels/napkins are adequate to germinate the seeds since the bag is sealed.
What temperature did you set your heating mat to?
70-85F is the temperature of the mat
đđ
How frequently should u water them? I live in a hot and humid country.
You can water weekly, deeply, as long as the pot they are growing in has good drainage.
Are there diffrent species of this plant? The ones i grew have the same fragrance but the fruit it more oval & smoother skin.
I'm not sure if there are different species but it sounds like you might have a hybrid tree.
Excuse where do you lives in the uk
How long does the seeds stay in the heating mat?
Hi, I keep it on the heating mat until the seeds start to germinate.
When germinating the seeds, did you put the heat mat in the shade or under bright light?
I put them under the shade, not because it made a difference but because thatâs where I keep my heat mats. The seeds actually donât need any light until they germinate, just heat. Once they germinated, I put them under bright light.
Thank you
Äo you sale them to
I'm in an apartment and I don't have outdoor growing space. I have successfully grown some plants, but it's sort of hit or miss. I want to try some kaffir limes, but I am kinda on the fence, it seems like a tough project.
Me too, I currently don't have any outdoor space since I moved. Kaffir lime trees require warmth and light. If you don't have those, you can supplement with a heating pad and artificial grow lights. That's what I'm using right now đ
@@ThunThunChannel i do have grow lights for my ummm other plants lol

Can i purchase some seed from you?
Hello, very informative video! Thank you! Do you sell them? I wanted to buy? Pls response! Appreciate and thank you!
Hello, thank you for your interest. Unfortunately they are not for sale.
When did your kaffir limes start to smell? I ordered some seeds online and now I have a seedling with a few leaves, but it doesn't smell like kaffir.
Hello, thank you for watching. They won't have a strong fragrance until they get a bit bigger. Even when they are just seedlings, many of them will not develop the double lobes (true leaves) until they get a few inches taller. Give it a bit more time. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@ThunThunChannelThanks, then I don't have to worry that I maybe got seeds of another citrus. đ
The small tree just got some leaves with small second lobes, but smells really lightly like citrus, so I started to worry if I maybe growing a wrong citrus tree.
Why canât they grow kaffir limes in Florida or Mexico and then have them imported to the USA? It seems like they could sell the leaves like they sell herbs.
