  • Nom Banh Chok is a Cambodian style fish and herb curry noodle soup. This earthy and medicinal tasting curry is packed with lots of aromatics. All of the traditional toppings add a lot of flavor, fragrance, and texture to each bite. Nom Banh Chok is easily my favorite Cambodian dish.

You've made this incredibly pleasing to watch. My in-laws are Khmer & I remember the first time I ever had this was an overwhelming trip for the tongue - I've since had the pleasure of preparing it. Just making kroeung has you realizing how much goes into preparing Khmer food; I suppose that's why we make big batches of it because it's the base of sooo many dishes. This was incredible. You made it look so yummy & my favourite version is the one with chicken in it [fresh mint from the garden is always a plus]. If you ever want to learn a culture & language, take a trip through the food. It's an incredible experience!

OMG. Thank you. I’ve been looking for a good recipe for this dish. This is the full ingredients, process, and presentation I’m familiar with growing up. Not the sloppiness and flavorless dish I’ve had in restaurants. Now i know the name of this dish. I clicked on the recommendation cause of the yummy looking thumbnail. Thank you!

My friend in high school was part Cambodian. This was one of my favorite foods to eat. Many years later I made it however instead of having that burst of refreshing flavor it was more mild. Maybe now that more versions of this recipe are available I'll be able to find an equivalent from that time 😀

Thank you for watching 😊 Asian stores should carry the yardong beans but regular green beans will work fine in this recipe too. If you have a Southeast Asian store near you, like a Thai, Lao, or Cambodian store, they will most likely sell the banana blossoms. Otherwise you can substitute with other crunchy vegetables too.
