    • @justified004
      @justified004 Před 17 dny

      @1RobertSmith it's not secondary because it's all the same problem. This roster sucks. No one is holding Jokic to those 2020 numbers as he is in his prime and tasted victory but going 20 and 20 is unacceptable. They lack a true PG that can control tempo and force the ball to AD when he goes stretches without a shot (Rondo). They lack the size to play physical with Jokic on the block (Howard and McGee). They don't have consistent shooters who also play perimeter defense (Green, KCP, and Kuzma). All those previous guys helped contribute when they needed them during that 2020 run.

    • @justified004
      @justified004 Před 17 dny

      @1RobertSmith but Jokic has never relied on athleticism, so bringing up his strength and quickness is pointless. He has become smarter and learned how to play the game better. I'm not saying Dwight isn't an improvement defensively against him because that would be his sole focus. AD also has to provide offense on top of his defense. The point is that Dwight is only 1 piece and LA needs many. They have no true PG. Rondo also came up big for them that year. They have no consistent shooters or perimeter defense. KCP is now a Nugget, and Kuzma is gone. Like I said, if LeBron is your best 3-pt shooter, then you have a problem. Who guards Murray, Gordon and Porter? Who hits those corner 3s now? How runs the offense and gets the ball to AD? Dwight was only part of it.

      It's far from the easiest defense to score on. Denver was 5th in the NBA the last two years in 4Q defense, they were 7th in total defense in 2024, but they were 2nd in defensive rebound margin which is huge because it means they have more possession than the opposition. Keep in mind that those numbers are for a team that was frequently far ahead in the game & playing their bench ate in games, which means they are skewed somewhat & don't reflect how good they are when it matters. Don't pretend that the Lakers should be beating this team but for some reason they just magically can't seem to hit shots. You don't beat a team with two All-NBA stars on it 11 straight times, coming back repeatedly in the 2nd half to overcome big deficits if you can't play defense. Denver has been winning all year with their defense.
