I know, every time I was a video I find myself wanting to ask decor and wardrobe questions rather than focusing on the books 🤣 and not much distracts me from books!

I read a book a month, sometimes two, because I only read at night before sleeping. I don't have time unfortunately during the day.
Regarding the Brown sisters, book 3/eve brown is my absolute favourite of the 3! I read on kindle unlimited so had all 3 for free!

A Little Life is A LOT but it’s also profoundly beautiful and the friendships in the book were just joyous for me. I would say just go for it - give it 50-100 pages and if it’s too much at least you tried 😊 theres no shame in putting books aside that don’t work for you.

I’m excited to see your collection! In the last 6-8 months I’ve gotten my collection to a great place! It’s at 147 books. Now I won’t need to declutter until another 5 years at least😂

Yeah I need to go on a book ban too, I got loads last year for my birthday and Christmas so I don't need anymore! But... I need more books!!! 😂 And that's not including the books I already have!! 😂 I haven't seen The Colour Purple or read it, but I want to do both! I think I may have to watch it first as I will take longer to read the book. 😊

I love The Secret Lives of church ladies! That was my fave read last year; people person were so underwhelming like I could not. I am excited to read Nightcrawling!

I really think you’ll like nightcrawling, it wasn’t my fave, but I could appreciate it and the author is super young too! She’s incredibly talented!! Yeah People Person was so disappointing. 🫠

My TBR shelf is a similar size. I should be reading through it, but I can't seem to stop ordering new books every few months, so it never seems to get smaller. : D

The film of The Color Purple is amazing, but of course, the book is better. You should enjoy both! A Little Life was my favorite book the year it came out. It can be overwhelming, but just take breaks if you want. I couldn't put it down and raced through it! It is utterly devastating, but so beautiful. You can always dnf if necessary.
I forgot to mention that I’ve watched the original and I really liked it, I meant to say the remake. 🙈 But yeah, I plan to watch that soon.

Such a great book collection... you have SO many books that I think you should definitely read (Open Water, and Sorrow and Bliss are both great!). I also love Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is brilliant; I'm pretty sure, at the time of reading it, it changed my life ❤ Hope you're well Nickelle

Really cool to see your taste change and develop. As much as I am not a CoHo fan, I respect that she gets so many people into reading.
So funny how we have so many shared loves, still I really did not enjoy Eleanor Oliphant - it seems to be a very marmite book. That said, it has sold over 4 million copies and I don't think the author ever wrote anything else, otherwise I would give them another chance.

Let Us Descend really missed for me, despite the fact that on paper I should have loved it. I am yet to find a Jesmyn Ward fiction I love, but I just finished her memoir The Men We Reaped, which I really loved.
This is how I feel! On paper I feel like we’re a great fit, but I’m just not wanting to pick it up at all unfortunately.

@@NickellesNook Once Owen was involved in an accident, after a beautiful bonding night with Jesse, I had to take a break before reading the rest. I felt like the author turned my emotions upside down. Such an incredible writer.

@@NickellesNook Truly! The relief I felt that next chapter was immense. The author knows how to play with my emotions. On top of that, I read The Scent Of Burnt Flowers right after & had my heart played with once again.
Still Me is the final book in the trilogy. It goes Me Before You, After You & then Still Me. Its a great trilogy and they really should've made films of all books not just the first one. Have you seen the bbc adaptation of The Girl Before? I'd recommend it although i haven't read the book. Also hope you're doing well health-wise I've hit a plateau with my long covid.

I read the Color Purple recently and saw the film soon after, for me I loved the book and found the film fell a little flat but was still an enjoyable watch

@@NickellesNook the one that came out recently, I hadn't actually realised there was an original film- maybe I need to see that! I think the new one is based on the stage version, so more license taken with the story!
@@alison_5050Definitely give it a whirl - Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey (who is AMAZING) and Whoopi Goldberg as Celie - there’s a lot of powerful performances in the original 😊
