- the fact that i let my shelves get this out of hand is truly embarrassing, but i'm glad that i finally got them into some sense of order! we're now accepting predictions for how long it's gonna take for them to fall back into chaos again!
anyways, i hope you love this video as much as you did the previous bookshelf organisation video!

18:28 that is so real and i definitely don't think the tiktokification of the book community has helped - some people JUST want to read YA tropes with "spice" and expect a book that's catered to 10 -16 year olds to be sexy and mature. but you're so right that that space is FOR the teens and to see adults put pressure to make YA more and more mature is really sad because then teenagers lose their reading niche and may stop reading all together :(
Yeah, that's a really weird trend... As an adult (kinda) I actually don't read many adult books (I mostly read romance), because I DON'T want any spicy scenes but now even the YA section is full of them. Recently I found the term "closed door romance", so now I try to look books up with that in mind.
This library is the stuff dreams are made of. Its absolutely gorgeous! 😍
thank you so much!! i love this space so much hehe
I have always wanted a floor to ceiling library like in Beauty and the Beast. Belle was my favorite princess because we both liked to read
Those new Percy Jackson editions look soooooo gooood!
right??? i’m actually obsessed with them
They’re gorgeous, it’s too bad Rick Riordan is a Zionist sympathizer…
i'm absolutely loving this new cinematic era of fictionalfates omg ✨ i've been around since the very first video and it's been so fun to see how your aesthetic has evolved!!
I’ve rewatched your initial bookshelf organization video at least 20 times now, so glad to have more 😍
omg i'm both thankful you watched that video so much, and so excited for you to watch this one!!
I love that people have such different tastes in how they organise, stack and display books!
That said, however much I respect that you enjoy showing off your favourite cover-art/titles, facing them to the front, it grates at my soul to have books cover the titles of other books.
It's like double-shelving to my brain😅 The fact that this is your library and it's you who sorted it, means you know where everything is, but I myslef would be so lost and NEVER know where things are😅😅
10:29 seeing you suddenly hold mdzs had me shellshocked😭😭 my two worlds colliding
i loved the drama sm and i need to read it
This video is so satisfying omg…10/10 comfort watching vibes. Also yeah the whole consumerism in the book community is something that’s been playing on my mind - especially when books can now have 6+ special editions each, and if people don’t have them, it’s a bit of fomo!
this is the best kind of bookshelf organization video like your explaining the chaos and how it got there, your plan of action, the needed snacks and drinks, and then the realistic process of the organization. it's just perfect!
the fact that all the books are special is insane
These shelves are so beautiful they make me want to cry
Hi just discovered you and your vibes, your space, YOUR BOOK TASTES! You just seem like the type of person to make people feel relaxed around. I absolutely love and appreciate the bit of asmr when you move and shift around your books. Gonna be sticking around.
the girlies have been WAITING for this one ‼️‼️‼️
I'm always so happy when I see people growing out of YA. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My thing with young adults is that teenagers aren’t really young adults! Just most people combine teen fiction and young adult fiction instead of keeping them separate. I don’t think it’s wrong for people wanting older character young adult books because 25 is still a young adult. They just need to keep teen separate instead of combining.
I completely get where you’re coming from, I don’t think publishers see it in the same way though. It’s just a marketing term imo, teens don’t like being called teens - so they call it YA to be more appealing 🤷♂️ but again, I definitely get you!
The problem isn’t that people put them together, the problem is that someone decided the name for books for teenagers should be “young adult”. Officially ya is books for/about people ages 12-18, which is obviously confusing. There isn’t really a literary category for actual young adults, though people are trying to make new adult a thing for that age category, but yeah young adult has always been the name for books for/about teenagers
Thought Ya is like 16-21 and thrn 22-29 is NA 🤔
Cux in most counttied u cant drink after the age of 21, what I know and heard of
@@ForTheLoveOfMusicals at my local bookstores, it’s always been separated at “teen fiction” and then “young adult fiction” even though young adult fiction is still for the age of like 16 year olds which I think we can all agree are not adults LOL. But I also see at like big names like B&N it’s all split into either kids or young adult and I just don’t get it 😂😂😂
Like I don’t understand why it’s never been like kids, teen, young adult, adult OR even kids, pre-teen, teen, young adult, adult because the way it is now it’s so easy for a 12 year old to read a borderline adult young adult book and a new adult reader that’s like 17/18 can try dipping into an adult book and immediately read like a super smutty or super graphic or super extreme kind of book that will like scare them away from the genre. It just seems like they don’t want to take the time to actually sort them and so they just lazily check between two boxes 😭😂😂
@@wolflover306 it really starts at like 11-12 actually. Even like in school curriculum, when assigned reading begins in 6th grade (when you’re 11/12) it’s young adult books. Like where the red fern grows (12 year old boy), the outsiders (14 year old), etc. are all young adult books even though they are nowhere near adults 😂😂😂
22:26 Wow. The after looks so satisfying.
even tho i despise the way u organize ur books, this video was super satisfying
O absolutely LOVED THIS🤎 I loved going through every step of the process with you!!😊
Really loved this! The books are so beautiful with all their colours and designs. Loved how you organized them and really making me relook at how I organize my books! Thank you!
Bless you for making it that far into the organizing journey in your sweater
You are really good at tetris, cause I cannot even imagine being this good at fitting all those books together.
Such a beautiful collection! Also thanks for the invite at the beginning to get a favorite beverage, I made my coffee and got my blanket and am just loving this cozy video
This was sooooo satisfying and your boooookkkksss are sooo preeettyyyy!!!! And I love the way you arrange them!! makes me want to shop
Oh I love this!! And thank you for showing the shelves in the before truly like they were, I always feel kind of ashamed of the state of my shleves sometimes and seeing its the same for other people was just really good.
Your shelves look sooo good and I love the rug, I have been eyeing it for a long time now as well. I love your special editions so much!
I would love a 24 hour readathon video!!
it's been a while since i last watched your videos, but i just fell in love with your personality all over again. love the mini rants on ya novels and book consumerism. i'm not a big fantasy or sci fi reader, but your bookshelf is envious!
watching this last night was very relaxing and made me motivated to sort mine out so now i have a tidy bookshelf for the first time in over a year :))
I’ve been doing this every weekend too at this point! I have bins and shelves just full and so far I’ve gotten through half and downsized half of that half! (4 bins that I passed onto friends) it feels sooo good and it’s fun to rediscover old favorites, books I completely forgot about, and also have the realization that I can let go of some that I’m just not into anymore
This is incredibly satisfying, especially the cleaning! Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm obsessed with special edition books and seeing so many in this video makes me gush with delight. There are some very sexy books out there 😂
I love a good library reorganization!
I loved being able to play spot the book! Especially seeing that you have some lesser known books that I adore made my heart sing!
The vibes here are great and I'm subscribing immediately
Just found you and I'm so glad i did! Love your thoughts on consumerism with books. I've been on a book buying ban for a while and while it was hard at first, it feels good!
I was waiting the whole video for you to show off those wheel of time editions you have up top there!! absolutely gorgeous display!
your style is impeccable
I love books so watching your first video and this one I am on awe. So happy
thank you so much!!! 🥺
Absolutely adore your shelves
im peeping the principle of moments on your shelf!! still need to read it but i loved following the writers journey on tiktok since release!
i absolutely need this video. life has been so busy and i can't watch but I am going to save this for a time to give myself maximum joy
Can I just say YES for the angles. This was great!!!
i love this sm and the rug??? so cute
eeee thank you!!!
you are such a doll, love these videos ♥♥
Wow all those beautiful hardbacks! Loved this video as well
I love watching these videos so much as a college student who desperately needs to organize their own shelves, lol. Your videos are great for me when I'm eating lunch alone in the dining hall and I need to decompress before classes 💕
I’m so happy I found a new book bestie 🤗 just subscribed 💗
Jooooel it looks so good!
thank you!!! i’m really happy with how it turned out too!
Only 43 seconds in and subbed this feels so cinematic. Love the shots and editing
The shelves look really good!! Now I wanna buy more books to have a reason to reorganize my shelves as well.
its a good day when joel uploads 🥰🥰🥰
You have a lovely office/library now. :) Those special editions are displayed so aesthetically.
i love these kinds of videos soo much!
ahhh i hope you enjoy this one!!
I’m so envious of those Percy Jackson book, it’s my comfort series
I’m only 5 minutes in and I love you already. Your the first man I’ve seen on book tube and that’s so amazing
Awww Joel it was so fun to see your hard work and excitement in this video!!! I find it super interesting the way you display your books outwardly like in a bookstore because I've never done this. Mostly because I've never had the space, but it's such an interesting perspective for the shelves. Do you have a specific plan for the ones you face out or is it just by feeling?
Subscribed like 2 minutes in! You are sooo charming, love your style!
I spotted Naomi Novik's Uprooted which is like my all time favourite and I made me happy to see it 🥰
Lovely refresh of your shelves! I'm currently reading through all of the translated fiction I can find that is similar to Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop in some way.
Clicked and the first minute of the video already knew the vibes were spot on
Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo. I maybe some time!
The Kyosi novels are SO GOOD! Excited to hear your thoughts on it when you get to read them.
this is so incredibly cinematic and satisfying, I wish I could mark it on my Letterboxd
Kindle was a game changer for me, I read so much that I was drowning in books. Also I love your cozy office/library space ❤
These types of videos are very conforting to me, I love seeing what books people have and when I have them as well it makes me all giddy lol....although I have much less physical copies I have many of your books in audio or ebook version as well so it's nice to know we have similar tastes :)
I'm so glad to finally see someone with the Winnowing Flame trilogy!
i'm just gonna drop a small comment saying that your taste in books is impeccable and that i spotted so many personal favorites too
I'm currently reorganizing my books after putting up shelves in another room and I am STRUGGLING. I have so many books that look bad next to each other 😐😶 I have things separated to an extent- series, classics, nonfiction, YA and books for younger ages, and general adult fiction. But I'm contemplating combining things to an extent, mixing things around/together a bit. Idk though and I know to figure out it I'm going to have to rearrange and rearrange and rearrange 😮💨
I sort mostly by Author Surname. I also put the books I've already read spine inwards.
It helps me see which books are still unread.
I love bookshelf organizing videos ❤ I mostly organize my own books by genre and last name. Mostly😅 Because it also makes sense to me to have a small shelf for e.g. Japanese literature & witchy books, then some mystery books are too big for those shelves so they're elsewhere and so on.
MISSED YOUUUUUU
you've got a really cool vibe.
That copy of Ink Blood Sister Scribe!!! 😍😍😍
Hello, first video I am watching here and your home library is incredible. I am always so sad that in France, we don't have as many beautiful covers as the English books (seriously, why?!) and I am not talking about special editions. Something that really helped me to "reduce" my book purchases is to have a library card. I am more willing to try books I am curious about but not sure I would love, I have no guilt about abandoning stories I don't like, and for the books I really love, I buy physical copies for my own bookshelf. It also allows me to try new genra (I am currently reading lots of YA, sci-fi and Japanese authors books, when I was more a thriller girl). But no judgement at all about how many books a person owns because books brings me joy too. It's just a little tip about how I manage between my "hunger" for reading and my little limited space at home for actual books.
This intro deserves an award! I haven't even finished the video yet, but immediately felt compelled to comment just to say this! 👏👏👏
Hello! I just want you to know that I found one of my favorite books from seeing It on your shelf and thinking it looked cool in your bookshelf building video. I really appreciate this because I love it so so much and I wouldn’t have found it if I t weren’t for your video :D thank youuuuu!!! Also I love the way you say “romance”, I am a Texan and it sounds so funny when I say it with my accent, but with yours it sounds so lovely (the way it probably should sound all the time) 🫶👍😁
Eeee I spotted it at 16:29 !!!!!😁🫢👍👍🫶❤️🥳🥳🎉🎉
Ohhh what book?
random PVA glue on the shelf is a mood XD unintentionally did the same thing too a while back
how to know if you really love and read a book. its when the special editions are on the tbr cart... loooove this vid also
Love the sims analogy, you got yourself a new subscriber lol
Now I wanna redo my shelves 😊
sweet bean paste made me feel so soft and seen as a disabled adhder, while i cried
Watching this has made me realize how much I need to declutter my own room and shelves 😆
I’ve been organizing my books by page length so it’s like a scavenger hunt to find a book.
Muchos LIBROS HERMOSO 😊
CZcams just showed me this in my recommended videos and YOU ARE STUNNING. Haven‘t watched the video yet but immediately clicked on it and I know I will enjoy it.
You are literally so handsome oh my god. Tell me your secret! 😭
0:29 ICONIC analogy
love your R F Kuang shelf 🥹
Family Meal is soo good
I loved this video! I love seeing how others decorate their shelves! Where are the shelves at 19:35 from?
How do I get your whole book collection? I've spotted so many stunning books, oh my god. The spines! I need a whole list of every single book on these shelves 😭
“romance 🙂 roMANCE 😛”
Out of everything in this video, the only thing I could relate to was, "But first, let me get a couple of coffee" ☕ 😂
I haven’t gotten around to reading it but for a future vlog can you read The Chalice of the Gods??🥺
Do you keep the dustcovers of the naked hardcovers?
When I organise, these are what go together in their own sections:
- Hardbacks
- Standalones
- Ongoing Series
- Favourites
- TBR
This is really similar to what I do! And then in each section I do author surname a-z.
I’m an adult who stopped reading YA books because they became too adult. If I want adult fiction, I will read it, but YA books help ground me in who I used to be or could imagine myself being. I miss that perspective.
This popped up just in time to coincide with me getting a new bookshelf. I wonder if the Adults wanting young adult books tailored to them thing is due to the sense of prolonged adolescence/delayed adulthood vs expectations recent gens have been grappling with?
Isnt that what the "new adult" genre is about? My understanding is that its written in a sort of YA style but about characters that are all consenting adults and can partake in lemons and spice.
Honestly, these read a lot like fanfiction to me. Which is not a bad thing. There are some incredible fan fics out there. And also a lot of fan fiction is just fun. Which makes sense. No one is making any money, so theyre all just there to have fun.
Soo cutee
thank you!!
I saw you have The God of Endings facing out---can anyone tell me if it's good? I love the premise but no one's been talking about it since it dropped and I'm worried that it fumbled or something
Just looking at your bookshelf is giving recommendations to read.
as it should 👀
omg yes please do the Emily Henry video
Hello, fellow bookworm! Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is a small snipbit of a whole genre called "Danmei," and it's surrounds itself with Chinese authors. One of the more famous authors is MXTX which you already have one of her books, but I wouldn't recommend starting with that series. There's a series of 3 books (I know, such a little number) called Guardian, it's a paranormal romance where someone entangles himself in the world of the supernatural and finds that he really likes a college professor. Romance works and solves mysteries together. 10/10. I love it so much. The last book is coming out in summer, August or June, don't remember. But that's what I recommend to you! Have a wonderful day!!
The way this would've taken me days. I have 1 bookshelf and without fail any time I reorganize it, I have a breakdown halfway through.
This doesn't relate to the video but I saw the Night Circus in your bookshelf and wondered if you have any recommendations that feel like that book no one I know has read it.
