Ironic that a giant hosting service company can't afford to make decent servers for their game
To be fair the servers are good, Once you actually get in there is no lag or instability, it's the fact that servers are capped and the queue system literally does not work.
@@Skilow it seems they’re just filling up servers. They add 20 at a time when everything is full
"Afford" isn't right. They can afford literally anything. The less they provide while meeting serviceable objectives is how they make Jeff his money. Normally the burden on squeezing as much as possible is put on the workers, not servers we can see the effects of directly.
it's not cost effective to buy up a bunch of equipment just for launch week, but they could use cloud servers like amazon web services to adjust capacity as needed.
Servers are pristine. You just picked a full server.
I just seem to be stuck in queues. I often get near to being able to enter then something goes wrong and it kicks me...
Man they cut out the best bits. Asmon sat and did reaction content for an hour or so while the stream filled up and kept saying stuff along the lines of "Its fine, we have queue skip" "Amazon gave us queue skip in the Betas" for him to then find out that nobody got Queue skip and when he went to queue he was at 10k
Yeah I feel bad because people make it seem like he’s whining but he would literally be unable to play any server based games without prior. Not his fault he’s got an entourage

He doesn't tell people to play on the same server as him, he doesn't tell people to flood the zones he frequents in game, people choose to do that for whatever personal reason they have. And the reality is, he probably should get priority queues considering he's literally giving them free advertising to hundreds of thousands of people.
@@AbsentQuack So, this random guy just woke up one day to a host of people on the internet willing to "follow" him en masse. His success was thrust upon him. He didn't work for it, he didn't develop content for it, he didn't market himself, he just... existed.

@@vrboxo He absolutely developed his fan base and viewer base through years of work, but just like celebrities don't ask for paparazi to camp in their front yard every day, Asmon doesn't ask people to stalk him in every game he plays.

My experience was getting into 3500 at 1am, going to sleep. Waking up at 2am, seeing I am still in queue. Goin back to sleep for 2 more hours. Then seeing I am kicked for being AFK then switching servers to a 200 queue server.
I have so far 24.5 hours of logged gameplay in Steam... which tells me that I spend 24.5 hours in queue, I have yet to even see the start beach.

Those queues are why i have 3 level 15 characters on different servers (in 2 regions). I made one right as the Eastern US servers came up, and got in immediately, played til @ noon, then logged to go get lunch and a few other errands. Came back to a 1500 person wait, made a new char on a low pop western server, then had to log for dinner. Came back to a long wait for that server. So made a third char on one of the new eastern servers.

The queues for this game are bizarre. I sat in queue at position #29 for half an hour earlier. It started at 32, went down 3 very quickly and then sat there at 29 until I backed out and quit the game. I've never played an online game before period that implemented queues and the number didn't move once in a half hour.

Hmm, if the queues are based on players, and none of those players logged out then ya, the queue would not move. It's not about time, it's about the server capacity. I'm not defending the game, I'm just saying why it might not move. I recall several ppl were saying that game was not ready. :'D

when I played runescape when I was 13 I just killed chickens and got my attack skills maxed and made enough gold to buy really good armor from selling the feathers to someone who makes pillows and sells the pillows and they didn't know what people use pillows for.
Its sucks to not have my daily Asmongold clip these are fun to watch when i wake up and drink my coffee, but its very respectable that Asmon is taking time out of streaming days to take care of his mother. I hope she will get better soon

Fortunately they already said that they are adding more servers very soon and are increasing the player cap as soon as they finish testing the increased stress on ths servers.

Okay, I have to know.
Is New World even good? Like, it looks interesting, but it also looks like the game where after a week people are going to notice a shit ton of issues or stale bits.
Is there anything else to do besides grind for stuff and PVP with the stuff you grinded? I know there's faction PVP, but you can easily just join the winning side as pointed out. Is there any side activities? Fishing? Maybe mini-games? Do you drop your stuff when killed in PVP by another player?
It being $40 and having no subscription cost SEEMS nice, but like... is that just going to give excuse to a cash shop? And will it be dead within 3 months?
Once you get your shinnies, there is nothing to progress on character wise. Pve is a rushed addition to the game and is the main way of gearing up. If you enjoy pvp, it might be a good game. Crafting is gather several hundred thousand mats to craft rng loot kind of thing, it's not too in depth really.
I love it. But of course analytical Andy’s are gonna regurgitate whatever their favorite youtuber says about that game instead of playing it and trying things out themselves. I look at this game as RuneScape on steroids. Last time I enjoyed any mmo was RuneScape so I guess it makes sense for me to like it.

I played BDO and ESO but lost interest.
It’s like ESO for me. Some people might swear for it, but I quit after 3 months. Don’t get me wrong: It’s enjoyable, especially in the beginning. It just doesn’t last long so to keep subbing is out of question.
2k server limit for a trillion dollar company meanwhile FFXIV's server limit is 5k players 6 years ago...
I assume it’s limited to 2k for economy and resource limitations

I genuinely like this game so far even after the long queue but I'm praying Jeff doesn't yeet this game like so many other corporations ruled by greed have.
The only reason I'm not buying it is because it's Amazon. A company that has it's workers pee in bottles. I care more about workers than some entertainment and I'm not even that political. Amazon and Jeff can fuck themselves.

Lol 20 years ago Dark age camlot had 2000 server caps that is literally 0 progress on sever limits in 20 years.
Not everyone realizes that their server is a streamer server or the streamer goes to their server after. When I joined a server, there was 0q cuz it was early in the day but I found out later that it was a streamer server when I had a 2k player q to get in but I was already committed to that server

Utguard on the EU server list had 17.5k queue. I was thinking wtf people would wait that long. I abandoned a 2k wait server and waited for the extras to release and down to 1 or 2 in Q now😆

My friend waited for the entire queue and just as he was about to get in he got an error message and the game auto-closed. When he tried logging back in, he was at the back of a 10k+ queue. Since he and everyone else who got the same error message had under 2 hours played, it is safe to say this was definitely planned. What made everything worse was the Americans flooding European servers preventing people in Europe from playing in their own region.
If you buy a MMO on launch day and are angry about not being able to refund, you are SOL...
