    The newer rams come factory equipped with auxiliary switches that are almost a plug and play option.
    This model is a 2021 ram 3500, but this video should pertain to all ram truck models around this year. Although this is a 5th gen ram the process is about the same with the 4th gen rams.
    In this video I will show you a step by step process with hints and tricks to hookup and setup your accessories.
    Here's where to find all the wiring info:

    After some consideration I’ve decided to purchase the factory harness for this application. If I buy it, would everyone like me to make a video highlighting the install using it? Please comment down below and let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

      @@BuiltbyBurns mine was in the infloor storage bin in the back. Others have found them either under or behind the rear seat. One of the things in the bag is a jumper connector you can use to supply power to a wire that is already run to the rear of the truck from the factory (near the rear bumper). This would let you run a wire from the rear bumper to the pump instead of from under the hood.

    I am still learning how all of this works but I know that you are able to move the relays/fuses around to the appropriate aux switch. You don't have to use Aux 4 just because thats where the 25amp is (I think thats what you mentioned). You can just move them to which Aux switch makes the most sense for what you are trying to power. I am OCD so my front LED light bar will be Aux 1 and Rear spot lights will be Aux 6 etc.

      Should be as simple as running the power wire into the cab to power up the devices. From there you can figure out a way to plug into that power wire and then use the switches to turn them on and off. It’s pretty easy don’t over think it.

    Will this work on a Laramie? I’m trying to add aux lights without drilling into the vehicle

    • @BuiltbyBurns
      @BuiltbyBurns  Před 2 lety

      I’m not sure if the outfitter ports are on your vehicle or not to be honest. Pop the hood and see if you have those two grey and light grey connectors on the right side behind that battery. We can go from there.

    • @djwolf37
      @djwolf37 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BuiltbyBurns just for future reference, the two grey connectors under the hood come on vehicles both with and without aux switches. Even Basenotes tradesman trucks can be optioned with the auction switches. The fastest way to know if the truck has the option is to look at the dash to see if the switches are their or not. If they are not their you need someone to custom make you a harness, flash the computer to add the programming, and order a couple of factory parts to add them, but this is rather involved.

    you want the ground to be a foot or two from the pump not running all the way back to the engine grounds. same as if you were hooking up an amp in a stereo application.

      Not if you wire it like this. Its all already in there. Just have to make sure it’s the right size for your application.

    Soldered connections are far more likely to crack from vibration. 99% of connections on a modern vehicle are crimped besides circuit boards. Even warranty repair procedures from oem suggest crimped connections. Go ahead and solder all you want but it’s doesn’t make you superior and you’re not nearly as informed as you think you are. That gob of solder wouldn’t even work for 90% of pins that aren’t a massive spade connector

    • @BuiltbyBurns
      @BuiltbyBurns  Před 6 měsíci +5

      I crimped AND soldered all connections. After a solid year of abuse we have had not a single issue with it.
      Thanks for the hateful comment though. There’s always a few negative people like yourself out there. Also I don’t care what your oem warrenty repair procedures are these days, car manufactures build things designed to fail. On purpose. Thats a fact. Thats how they make money, over and over again. So go ahead and follow your little instruction book.
      I fix engineered products for a living. That’s what I do. Everyday. I take a product that multiple college educated pricks designed and I fix it in the field because it broke. That’s what people call me and pay me to do. I don’t usually respond to comments on here, but when someone brings up “ that’s not how the book tells you to do it” I get a little angry. I’m not a sheep. I don’t follow all instructions.
      Reply back if you want I don’t care. Just letting you know now this is the end of the conversation. I’ve got more important things to do then argue on the internet. 🍻

      Truck speaker Amps along with alot more are 100% soldered, never had one crack. Been soldering wires on off road vehicles for 30 yrs, never an issue. Solder and crimp is bullet proof. Good job Guy. God bless the USofA
