Sucks about the crash. Hope you both recover fast. They make pop off valves for jet boats for that reason. Jet boats work by creating suction at the inlet and pressure at the outlet of the pump. When you kill the motor suddenly, the impeller no longer spins (therefore no suction) and the force of the water backs up in the inlet and creates a positive pressure scenario. While not spinning, the jet pump cannot expel the water faster than it’s being forced in, and basically creates a small “ridge” of water at the inlet that forces the rear of the boat up (this was the weight transfer you felt). A pop off valve bypasses the pressure in the bowl so that the inlet pressure drops and doesn’t dive the bow.
Im from the Philadelphia area and happened to be on facebook market place looking at jet boats and seen your boat for sale. Then while watching jet boat videos came across your channel about an hour after that. Hope your doing better now.
Holy smokes.. hope your doing okay 11 months later. I just happened to stumble on the video before this one. And I said to myself I hope he knows when there's no gas there's no steering. It probably could have been a lot worse I'm sure. Best of luck 👍
I hate for anything like this to happen but his was your chance to get a million view video, and at the same time completely understand not posting it also.
oh dang... that really sux.. always been scared to haul ass in the rivers like that with a jet.. maybe next time run with the rudder on the bottom of the jet just in case. done exactly what you did and my engine died (while hauling asss) headed for a cove and couldnt turn either.. was not cool. water filled the carbs and was able to just get the engine to start just enough to get the jet to turn us out of danger and it died again..
Sorry to hear about this.. I think I understand, though.. Risking your own rear end is one thing. But having your wife along when things go south can screw with your head. You're gonna have to get passed the guilt. You're both OK. And now you're a bit wiser.. Don't let this stop the fun or the channel.... Please.. You both seem like good people. And we need more like you. I enjoy watching people like you a LOT more than certain former print magazines turned CZcams channel operations. Oh... and I might be interested in the boat if you still have it.. I'm in Texas, though.. So.. logistics..
Thanks for the very Kind words. We both appreciate it! I just sold the hull and jet pump, I think I'm going to keep the engine and Computer as spares for the other two swaps
Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you have a fast recovery! Things sure can happen fast

Dude, hate to hear that about your accident.
Hope things get better for you.
Loved the jet boat vids, suxx it ended too quickly
Thanks! Yeah tell me about it
Glad you guys are ok! Doing an LS in my 75 Tahiti as well. Jet boats can be unpredictable some times. Have a speedy recovery !!
Thanks! What stage of your swap are you at??
@@drivewayparty4318 mocking the engine in. Fabing mounts, ordering parts. The normal rabbit hole every swap has haha.

Thanks, getting better slowly. I've heard there's a group of guys with jet boats on the Delaware
No pics of the boat after the crash?
