    1. Scatternut = Crystalburst
    2. both of them can be used when mounting monsters. Press L2 + R2 to shoot when mounting, only a few shots then it brings you to finisher (no more wasting time in 1,1,1,1)

      Also, use crystalburst when a monster is trying to flee an area, just one hit will make them stop and fight.

      just tested that bomb pod also brings to finisher as fast as scatternut.
      it seems that the stun effect from ammo gets the job done.

      It feels like I'm getting to finally fight the bosses of other games that *felt* like their bosses *should* have been a real challenge. Yet it's so much more than that. I'm loving this one so far and the last one I played I was not a fan of.

    If you fire a watermoss at the Tobi-Kadachi while he's in his "gliding" animation before a tail attack, it makes him fall to the ground, giving hunters a bit of time to land free hits.

    Slinger Torches can also be fired at Vaal Hazak’s mouth when he is using his effluvium breath “laser” attacks. It makes the laser go away but the animation continues so you can hit it in the face freely. You can also hit him a few times in the body when you see the effluvium flowing around him to dissipate it and make it safe to attack him in close range.

    Just another tip for you hunters out there the red ammo the monster drops will make them flinch if you do that while there limping away it will make them re engage you so you don’t have to chase it down the same affect will happen with the crystalburst granted if the monster limps to far it might not work but figured I’d let you all know

  • @outbreakanon1803
    @outbreakanon1803 Před 6 lety +27

    finally something I want to comment on.
    Scatternuts also allow you to flinch monsters out of most of their animations. This can be handy for saving yourself or a teammate from attacks or fireballs. It can also prevent monsters from running away. As you interrupt their fleeing animation and they begin trying to fight you again. You could also use this to stop them once they get somewhere you want to fight them.
    Another handy tip is using your slinger once you've mounted a monster. When you hold L2 and R2 it will zoom in on you as you aim your slinger at them (sadly no free aiming to bring something down on them which is why i initially never did this) but i have found several uses for this so far. Again, use scatternuts to interrupt its attempts to shake you off. Jump to its head and use thorn pods before you start stabbing away to deal that extra damage with each stab. Or just try to blow its face off with bomb pods ect. Hope you find this handy Arekkz and anyone else who reads!

      Soldier helmcrabs in the Rotten Vale drop slinger thorns and Bomb beetles in Elder's Recess drop bomb pods if they're rolling a rock around, although it's not guaranteed. However, you only get one of each ammo type from helmcrabs and beetles instead of a full stack.

    Even though this would probably be a long video I'd love to see a skills in depth video if possible. I've seen others asking about it so its definitely something people want to see. For me personally it isn't a absolute necessity but I'd like to have that extra bit of knowledge. Even though I've defeated the final boss I'm basically a Monster Hunter noob considering this is the first game of the franchise I've ever played. So more often then not I'm struggling to decide on what skills to use for which weapons even though multiple skills are viable I'd like to have some in depth information as to why i should one over the other. But i understand if this would take up to much time to make.

    When fighting the Diablos, I fired a brightmoss because I thought I had flash equipped, but then when it dug underground there was a light circle, where the diablos was. and as the circle moved so did the diablos. Probably not useful but it is pretty neat.

    I can confirm for you that Water Pods do indeed put out Anjanath's fire, as I've done the same with both the pods as well as Water element weapons. At first I wasn't sure either and assumed it was a general flinch but I shot specifically at his mouth the next time he started spewing fire and my water arrows put it out.

    You can also make a Kulu-Ya-Ku drop it’s rock of shot with slinger pods.
    I’ve yet to see a CZcamsr do it, and it makes fighting it even easier!

    you mentioned this with the torch pod but, brightmoss, when fired at a wall, or the ground will also attract insects and cause them not to attack you. They will gather around and stare at it for a while. The most notable use for this was if you have to do the lump of meat delivery in the rotten vale where you can distract all the horntaurs and vespoids.

    Piercing Pods can also cut tails. I've done so on Radobaan, worked at the tail with a Long Sword, picked up the Piercing pods he likes to drop, let one loose from head to tail and off came his tail.

    I've noticed that crystalburst and scatternuts are really good at staggering monsters out of attacks and brightmoss seems to be pretty effective at warding off Shamos (which the game says are sensitive to light). I'm not entirely sure about this last one but it also seems that the lava geyser trap in the elders recess goes off very shortly after firing torch pods at it. That one might be worth testing

    in the wildspire waste in the cave where rathian sleeps there are these weird purple things on the floor and if you shoot a torch pod at it it sets off a way bigger flame that lasts way longer. haven't found much of a use for it though.

    The slinger is amazing. I'm just starting out with this game and I had massive problems with the Tobi Kadachi, especially since I like to use small, fast, close range melee weapons and I always seem to get knocked over by an attack before I can get any good damage in with combos or apply my poison effects. Using the slinger to hit venom cups and poison it, firing watermoss at its tail, firing scatternuts at its head to stun or flinch it and then applying poison with my sword and shield... it made the fight so much easier.

  • @Ra-hu3sg

    Imo piercing pod is slightly different from, say, pierce 1 from a bowgun, in that it doesn’t matter too much how much length the attack lasts, it always deals at least 4-5 damages. I’ve tried pierce pod horizontally on odogaron and got maybe four hits, while piercing shot might only give me two. I could be wrong.

    • @Bobomberman
      @Bobomberman Před 6 lety +5

      Try firing one down the length of the final boss, you'll see it does a LOT of hits, perhaps the farther along the monster the pod travels though, the fewer hits it gets? You might be on to something

    • @morgankarnes5440
      @morgankarnes5440 Před 6 lety

      Git Gud it's one of my three favorite slinger Ammo! I do that too haha. My other two are Dung Pods (there my number one) and then I think my third is those Thorn Pods. The kind that are thorny balls that stick on the monster.s I'm really not sure the point of em but they look cool :)

    • @hilleltaco
      @hilleltaco Před 6 lety

      Mudshrooze Thorn pods do knockout damage when hit after being attached, so if you try to aim for the monster's head, they can help get a knockdown even if you use a bladed weapon.
