Yes the almighty striker fire and 365/320 platforms I’m afraid run the show there now…it’s definitely smaller than the 39-2, almost identical to the 3913 I mentioned or even the 6904.
You know it’s hard for me to take anything away from the 320 as it did and does accomplish some great things, and I’ve owned a few, the traditional p series always impressed me and they have a great reputation, especially on the all metal gun / hammer fired side of things….
My P225 was manufactured in West Germany and is stamped "West Germany," as opposed to my P 229 .40 which is stamped "Exeter-NH-USA." I have the original documentation and case and it is not referred to as a P6. The 229 is excellent, but the 225 is more accurate.

Nice pistol. Too bad it didn't use a 10-shot mag like the one in the Shield Plus. Not sure a DA pistol is needed when you can fit a heavier NY 1 trigger spring and LTT Striker Control Device to a G19. Prefer the original P225 which is 1.6 oz lighter and has a larger trigger guard that makes it better suited to use with heavy gloves... the variant with the heel mounted mag release is even better in that regard.
Actually, the finish on the j frame I mentioned ,was a tad more silver than they put on some other guns from that period. To my eyes anyway. Like they were going for a bead blast shade. More pearl white/silver on some others. Looks aren’t everything.just one of those things that started catching my eye after the J frame and haven’t liked it since. The sig ,Like their choice of Finish’s.& the grips. Thx again for giving us a look.
Sure, that’s an interesting comment on the j frame, I wonder if it had been refinished? I recently came across an M&P 2” from the 50s and it had a satin nickel finish to it, far as I can tell, smith never made that gun that way. Problem is smith doesn’t follow the rules over the decades and certain specials, dept issued guns, etc, have different features, options and finishes.
P225a1, my everyday carry. It's an excellent firearm. Yes, antiquated compared to newer guns, but there is just something special about this firearm. Very similar to my old P239 which I loved.
Probably my favorite Sig. I have this exact model (2 of them actually). That looks like a Hogue grip (I bought that exact grip to put on one of them). I’ve only seen them from the factory with the black Sig G-10 grip with the Sig medallion on it, which both of mine had. Great review. I shoot left-handed and have reversed the mag release on both of mine, and I use my index finger for engaging the decocker.

Although with everything going on these days and the weather change, I do find my self going with the 229/228 (or even this 224 I just picked up- next video) or my HK usp compact 9. Getting to that old attiage of if god forbid you need it, on that day you’re going to want as much gun as you can have. So going more often with the 13 or 15 round guns with spare mag.
Thanks, yeah agreed, the p series is a very visually appealing firearm and I think without the rail it’s even more so. I have the opportunity to pick up a used 229 DAK in .357 Sig at a very good price but thinking a p228 without the rail is the way to go.
@@thedailydefender1408 l have a German made P229 with the 40S&W and 357Sig barrels. I mainly shoot it in 357Sig, as I have other guns I shoot 40S&W in.
I have both p225 and sw3913. I carry both in rotation. The smith conceal slightly more but the sig shoots better Decisions every morning lol. Another great video. Cheers

Same on this side, or I’m sure I saw it and either didn’t give it much thought or for the original list price dismissed it give other options but at 400 under and what appeared to be a new unfired pistol just missing one mag I decided to give it a try and very glad I did.
This one is not an original W German P225, has a totally different slide look and assembly. This American made version looks more like the prelude to the P239 to me.
@@mincerz I love the E2 grip too, seems like it’s not overly popular not sure why, I think it’s a big improvement over the standard plastic semi bulky grips.
Very nice sig & s&w .like them both.8 single stack is fine with me. The finish on the S&W. Frame. ..not sure what it is exactly,but it’s not my fave..if it’s the same as the finish that came on a j frame,model 38 (I think,hump back shrouded hammer) I swapped it with a friend. It seemed like a bead blasted finish to me for a long time.never noticed.until it started wearing. Looked horrible and it’s still a pet peeve of mine to this day. Just don’t like it. Good video. Thx
Thanks, the 225 is a really neat gun and great shooter, shoots much larger than it is. Problem is the 239 is a better match up for ccw so I think they were more popular in that regard.

I kept my Sig P239 and SP2022, and gave my P320X Compact to one of my son-in-laws.

Totally agree, very very nice firearms and shoot closer to compact or full size 9mm. Both are guns to have in a collection and shoot regularly.

Correct it’s the p225-A1 so it’s kind of the p225 2.0 version.

I may have to hunt one of those down, I do admit I like the updated features on the A1 like night sights, SRT trigger and those g10 grips…..
My 225 is from 1991 year. I have 228 with SRT from 2003 (propably)
My 228 have E2 grip too. I love it.

I just love the way pistols like this look and function. If I’m not carrying a revolver, I’m carrying my S&W 6904. 👍👍👍👍
I do too, you pick it up and the feel and balance of a single stack and an all metal gun are hard to beat IMO.
