Is This The WORST Robin Williams Movie?

- Robin Williams was a comedy legend with a huge catalog of hit movies that span decades, but this movie wasn't one of the greats we all remember. Is Robins goofy sense of humor enough to save this movie? Or do the jokes fall flat with the copy paste script? Idk but the rating isn't high and i can't think of anything else to put here. Did you know the alternate movie title is "Runaway Vacation"? Kinda lame tbh.

RV / Runaway Vacation - 2006
The Munros are a typically American dysfunctional family, complete with rebellious, uncommunicative offspring and baffled parents. Patriarch Bob (Robin Williams) would like to remedy the situation before his son and daughter instant-message their parents out of their lives. Bob rents a motor home to take the clan on vacation but soon finds that camping and togetherness can be hazardous to one's health.

Interesting fact : On the day robin Williams died, the national suicide hotline had the most amount of calls in a day ever recorded in their history
Yea supposedly it was EIGHT TIMES higher than usual. Most of the calls were to ask for help for a friend or another loved one, or to ask how they could help people.
they couldn’t handle losing him
Ironic because his cause of death was suicide because he was suffering with depression, truly sad

Patch Adams is a great film! How dare you!
@@benkirkpatrick6343 "based on a true story" films always obtain that type of scepticism. Contextually, a bad biological film on the real-life Hunter Adams, from a film perspective, it's in the same ballpark as a life-changing underdog story like Rudy: partially relatable & somewhat overtly dramatic.
@@RH_Collective true, but to some degree, I have that expectation from cinema. It's supposed to be extravagant in a way that our mundane lives aren't. It's an escape to a high-contrast world of information.
Plus, I feel that Biopics are different than "based on a true story" films, and I do agree with your point. If a film is being touted as a biopic, I feel that it honestly should downplay the person, so the reality is that much cooler; "based on a true story", however, is more just a drunk dad's retelling of his glory days. You know it's only half true.
The only thing I remember from that flick is that they changed the sex of his colleague & made him his love interest. That's something that I remember being lampooned & parodied for years! I had a very similar experience with what Jude said at 6:13. My mother and I were driving to Kentucky and right after we got past Memphis, our old TomTom gps started acting up. For no reason whatsoever, it wanted us to drive 30 miles east on the interstate when we were supposed to be going north away from the interstate. We never drove to Kentucky before so we had to follow it to make sure we wouldn’t get lost. Then the gps told us to get off an exit and drive through your typical run down small southern town where the Main Street is very narrow and busy. After that the gps kept telling us to turn on to these country roads in the middle of nowhere. After 30 minutes of that, the gps brought us to the exact route we were originally supposed to take. So we pretty much wasted an hour taking a different route that only brought us back to our intended route. Thank you TomTom. Anyways kids, never get a TomTom gps that doesn’t let you choose your route. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Same experience here too bro
yeah this happened a few years ago when we drove in florida since we had to us an old gps we kept in the glovebox since all our phones were dead

How do you spend 6 hours at a trailer dealership
@@justintyler4693 oh pretty easily, actually. it was a huge dealership with like hundreds of different models, and my parents wanted to look at Every Single One.
Robin Williams defined a generation. From Genie to Mrs. Doubtfire, Batey, Patch Adams, and even the more crass stuff that I secretly watched as a kid, like his HBO comedy special. Whether bad or good, he made it memorable, and you gotta admire the legacy he left behind. It's a shame how depressed he got towards the end, and I wish he could've gotten the help he really needed, but I'll never forget the impact he left on my life.
He wasn't just depressed. He had what's called "Lui body dementia" which has no cure and was slowly turning him into a vegetable. He did what he did so that he could go out on his own terms. His family made a documentary about all this called "Robin's Wish" It's free on youtube and really clears things up and shows what really happened to him.
I actually remember watching this movie as a kid in a DVD combo with Jumanji.
YESS!!!
I HAVE THAT! :)

100% true story
My sister a decade or so again was really good friends with my neighbor, that neighbor so happens to be friends with Robin Williams due to going to alcoholics anonymous with him.
My sister 8 at the time got to meet him. RV at the time was her favorite movie, it was kind of our childhood film.
She met him once due to bumping into Robin at our neighbors house. She said she was a fan ( or something like that I dunno) he asked her what her favorite movie with him in it is, he asked us what our favorite movie is.
She said RV
Apparently he got visibly upset, said oh.. and left 5 minutes later
May he RIP 🙏

Same and this movie made me beg my parents for a camper. Sadly we never got one
I remember when this movie came out, my dad really wanted to take us all on a road trip before my sister moved for college. My dad was a dick all the time and we feared him back then, I was also going through my moody teen phase so this sounded like it was going to be hell cause he wanted to go all across America.
We did almost yearly trips that took a whole day to get to Disney Land. I hated these trips cause I always got sick and would get in trouble for getting sick. So going across the country sounded like hell to me. That I just do not like to travel.
Getting in trouble for getting sick? Ouch. "GODDAMMT SUSAN!! 5 WEEKS GROUNDED FOR PUKING THAT SHIT OUT THE WINDOW!!"

My family had a 2006 Suburban as our family car. It had a small pop-down screen connected to a DVD player in the ceiling.
Driving from Philadelphia to Texas, there and back, I must have rewatched this movie a half dozen times because it was one of the few DVDs we'd packed so that I and my brother could watch something as we drove.
I remember Summer Vacation with John Candy, RV, and Enemy At The Gates. I think Shrek too. Was most of the entertainment I had while on the highway.

Also apparently JACK and Patch Adams are good Robin Wiliams movies!
The only thing I remember about this movie is the ending scene and the credits
There was also Patch Adams and Jack. Patch Adams was mostly inaccurate to how Patch Adams really was and even gets offensive with fictionalizing a real friend of his who was murdered by turning the friend who was a guy irl into a female love interest.
The reason he would accept to act in almost every movie, was because he believed in true love. Instead, his ex-wives ripped him off and he could just barely afford to pay the alimony. That also attributed to his unfortunate suicide. RIP
Poor Mr. Williams. If there is a heaven, I hope he's up there.
I thought it was him having dementia with Lewy bodies is what caused him to commit suicide and yes people with dementia do commit suicide in the earlier stages and no one actually found out about the Lewy bodies until after the autopsy
