The Master of Disguise might be the worst movie...

- We sat down and watched Dana Carvey's The Master of Disguise for the first time ever, it was a mistake. This movie not only features turtles, but also offensive stereotypes and jokes that probably should not have made it into a "PG" comedy. Who is Pistachio? Will Devlin Bowman steal the constitution? And are YOU turtley enough for the turtle club? Probably not, L behaviour.

The Master of Disguise - 2002
Pistachio Disguisey (Dana Carvey), a genial waiter at his father Frabbrizio's (James Brolin) Italian restaurant, possesses an uncanny knack for mimicry. What he doesn't know is that his talent is genetic, and that he is the descendent of a long line of "Masters of Disguise," all of whom have inherited the secret family gift known as Energico. Initially, Pistachio is a klutz, but little by little, he learns to harness his inherited power, and sallies forth to utilize Energico to its fullest. With Dana Carvey, Jennifer Esposito, Brent Spiner, and Adam Sandler (Producer).

The Fiat 600 Multipla was a four-door MPV based on the Fiat 600's drivetrain and Fiat 1100 front suspensions, that sat up to six people in a footprint just 50 cm (19.7 in) longer than the original Mini Cooper and on the same 2 m (78.7 in) wheelbase as the 600 saloon. This had been achieved by moving the driver's compartment forward over the front axle, effectively eliminating the boot but giving the body a very minivan-like "one-box", flat-front look. The car debuted at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1956, and was discontinued in the spring of 1967 to be replaced by the Fiat 850 Familiare. The Multipla name was reintroduced in late 1998 for the Fiat Multipla compact minivan.

10:11 although to be fair in Tropic Thunder RDJ is literally meant to be a white man who had surgery to look black, and it's meant to be completely ridiculous and offensive.
Anyone complaining about it doesn't care. The point is literally "wait... that's illegal" and that's it. The literal act of looking like a vaguely different race *_is_* the offensive part, not the intent, behaviour, or context. (Ironically enough even the minstrel shows that define the super offensive pop-cultural idea of blackface were also a bit more nuanced then people think. When it comes to literally anything vaguely political wikipedia is obviously going to have a slant, and frankly it's a quite large and messy issue eitherway, but "segregationists thought such shows were 'disrespectful' of social norms as they portrayed runaway slaves with sympathy and would undermine slavery" should show a bit of the nuance here. Even *_they_* weren't just 'haha, let's be racist'. In fact, there were literally all-black performer groups. I.e. : no makeup, that was literally just their skin. Like I said, even *_they_* were a bit more nuanced then the cultural zeitgeist tends to think.)
It's really fucking stupid IMO, if the actor can play the role let them, we turn people into monsters, aliens, robots, mutants, etc. with CGI and makeup but turning them into a slightly aesthetically different human is off the table and unreasonable? If I remember right Misa Ackerman is the only canonically Japanese character in Attack On Titan, yet the live action AoT films were all, shocker, primarily japanese. It's one of those issues no-one actually cares about, because it isn't the actual issue. The issue is when people do it to intentionally be mocking of another race, i.e. : racist, but that got twisted into just "you can't ever try to look like another race" and you get really stupid double standards as opposed to just, having standards.
@@robonator2945I think you need some air, dude. I can hear you sputtering from here. Also there's no way in hell you just spent all that time typing just to say "waaaa please allow racist characters!!"

The 'Tic-Tac' car at 3:00 is a Fiat 600 Multipla, very common vehicle in Italy. As the editor showed, it's rear engined. They were multipurpose vans used for everything from family cars, to taxis and delivery vans, and there was a pickup truck version. Its successor looked a lot more normal, but I personally prefer this version because of its weirdness.

I think the only reason they didn't use another actor for Dana Carvey, was to show how bad he was at disguising. They still didn't need to do brown face. Even then, none of Dana Carveys characters were actually a disguise compared to his dad and grandpa. It's just him in a bad wig/outfit and impressions. His dad and grandpa literally became their disguises.
Thats the joke…

Firstly, I love this movie and quote it all the time ("are you mocking my husband").
Secondly, I have an idea for a sequel.
It 2020, and pistachio is still a master of disguise but a bit has fallen out of the spotlight. To rebuild his popularity he takes on a high profile case. In his attempt to thwart the bad guy he goes full trudeau and everyone stops caring about the heist in progress and starts blasting pistachio on twitter. Pistachio decides that he will have to adapt to modern sensibilities. He can now only disguise himself as inanimate objects/animals and male Caucasians ( I know this sounds sarcastic but it is completely without irony). The rest of the movie is just sequences where it seems like pustachio can only disguise in black face but somehow avoids it.
This movie was nostalgic when I was kid but as an adult I had no idea it was that terrible
The... the intro sequence of the movie is Bo Derek running away from some guards, in a role that she was famous for because she was only wearing a flimsy bikini and Dudley Moore was watching her jiggle from his window. A movie from 1979! And this was 2002? The only people who would've gotten that joke were well outside the age range for the rest of the movie!
Side story: I had a manager at a movie store who would randomly just blurt out 'Turtle! Tu-rtle! Am I not turtle enough for the turtle club?' at me, and I would just have to stand there and stare at him, because I've never seen this movie.
My favorite part of this move was when Pistachio Disguisie from Master of Disguise from the smash hit movie Master of Disguise dressed up as Adolf Hitler and said "you guys make me Führious!", and proceeded to gun down all the bad guys with an MG34
That would singlehandedly save the movie for me
