Samsung Fridge Ice Machine freezing up. (Forced defrost) fix

The Samsung refrigerator Series RF267 has an ongoing issue with freezing up and icing over the fan and evaporator coil. This video will show you how I fixed mine.
FD mode will defrost the ice machine in 20 minutes. The beeping will last 20 minutes. You do not need to empty your freezer. If your ice machine is frozen, you may have to do this cycle multiple times. FD turns on a heater to heat the coils allowing a fast defrost.
There are reasons why this Samsung Refrigerator seems to freeze up like this. It may be due to a faulty thermostat, or a defrost coil, or a defrost timer.

There is a flaw in all models of fridge with a similar ice maker. It requires 3 checks and a $200 icemaker repair kit. There was a class action lawsuit so you may be able to get this from Samsung by complaining. It includes multiple parts, including a new circuit board. You may want to hire a pro to handle the uograde

This IR is not a fix. My Samsung has that, and it doesn’t stop the ice machine. The frosting over is due to a bad design (as a Mechanical Engineer, I should have known better). Do not buy this design of ice maker inside the refrigerator unless you are willing to slog through this defrosting process every month. Ice machine inside the freezer is best, on the door is second best, in the refrigerator is the worst.
