    Thanks Jon. Great video! I appreciate you went step by step from the beginning, starting with where to get the software and all the way through demonstrating it in DCS. Nicely done!

    You need to set up your throttle axes in DCS as sliders. According to the video, they're setup as though they had a center. Check the "slider" checkbox on "Axis Tune" window

    I have well over 107 buttons assigned to my Virpil T-50CM throttle without the need of a virtual device or joystick gremlin. Im a badass.

      @@jberlin56 I use the mode function rotary switch that allows me to call up other buttons. I can program any button 5 times pretty much. heres a link to my profile, but I dont think it will work on anything other than a T-50 Mongoos.

    Just an FYI, the 32 button limit in games like Elite Dangerous are not Windows limitations, its the game itself. Since I believe Windows 7 (can 100% confirm Windows 10), Microsoft has supported up to 128 buttons per device. Games limited to less than 128 are because the game was written with that limitation. DCS, uses the full 128 available per device which allows you to map all the features on this, and all Virpil's controllers. Elite is limited to 32 and Star Citizen at the moment is limited to 50. So for any game with support for less than the 54 or so button pushes on the CM2 you need to use the virtual split.
    As someone who plays all three of the games mentioned above found out the hard way, you might want to set the 32 button split from the start. I mapped all my flight controls in DCS first, then SC and then Elite. I didn't know about the limit until I started mapping Elite when I discovered the issue. I hadn't tried to map every button in SC so I didn't find it while doing that game. I found out the solution in switching on the 32 button split but as that then creates a virtual second device for the buttons on the base itself you then need to remap everything there. I haven't messed with the mode switch yet but that is the next option to play with.

      Great info Frank thanks. I have not played elite dangerous so the feedback is much appreciated. If you come up with anything else please let me know so I can get help get the proper information out. And thank you again.

      What is required to map using the 32 split? I seem to be doing something wrong. I just reissued my profile with the 32 split. and saved to device each step of the way this time. I'll see how it goes this time. Very frustrating to get such an awesome expensive controller for specifically Elite Dangerous only to learn that I can only use the buttons and knobs on the throttle handles themselves. Some of which are not ideal intuitive locations for a given function.

    • @XxsteamerxX
      @XxsteamerxX Před 4 lety

      I guess saving to device after each setup phase along the way worked. Got it working and buttons mapped. Now I gotta fine tune and then it's on to muscle memory

    • @JohnCarlyle
      @JohnCarlyle Před 2 lety

      Yeah, it can't be Windows at fault. If DCS can see all the buttons then I'd put it down the the other games at fault. Not even sure why the mention of '32 buttons' comes from, IL-2 Sturmovik sees only the first 64 'logical buttons'.

    Hi! love your vids it help so much but in the end you said that your axis were inverted in the game and I have the same issue but you didn't say how to invert it back thanks a lot!

    • @JGandT
      @JGandT  Před 4 lety +2

      Easy fix within dcs where you set your throttle axis click on the axis you want to invert then axis tune check the box that says invert save then you should be all set, make sure if you have 2 separate throttles that you do that for both. Let me know if this helps. I can do a quick video if you need more help.

    Are the yellow decals removable? Those decals and cheap red switches make this look like a toy. I prefer the CM over the CM2. Then, the lack of mode switch when throttles are attached or detached to one another, and no detente make this throttle lackluster. In addition, a thumb stick should be added where the thumb rests when hands are on the throttle. I hope that their next version looks more realistic like the CM, and has the updates of the CM2 along with the above mentioned additions.

    • @JGandT
      @JGandT  Před 4 lety +2

      @Jeff C, Yeah you can get the yellow off of the throttle. I would like to see a detent add on option. I understand no detent is better for space flight and aircraft that doesn’t have a detent. I would like to see a few different options on throttle configuration as well. With that being said I think for the price (that’s not cheap) the build quality is spot on.

    • @jeffsfolio
      @jeffsfolio Před 4 lety

      Jon’s Gaming and Tech good to hear that the yellow is removable. But the original CM detent is optional, right? Why not add the detent if it is optional. I only fly space sims and find that the detent would be useful for many things. I used HOSAS for dogfighting but for general exploration or mining, the detent would be great.

    • @JGandT
      @JGandT  Před 4 lety

      @Jeff C, This is my first Virpil throttle I was unaware the cm came with detent other than saving on cost I can’t see a reason they didn’t include the detent on the cm2. I would love to have the detent or at least an option for one I would have paid extra.

    Thanks for the tutorial - but it is BAD ADVICE to “run every new software you download as Administrator”, that’s just begging for your PC to get hacked. Don’t do that unless you NEED to run as admin.
