  • Hey there DCS Brothers & Sisters. This is my DCS Hornet mapping to my Virpil MongoosT-50 CM3 Throttle & Constellation ALPHA-R Stick. If you just bought this awesome hardware or thinking of buying it, then I hope this gives you a few ideas with your set up. Best viewing in 4K res & best audio.. prob headset for this one. Cheers GA 😉
In DCS Options Special F/A-18C settings I have "Realistic TDC Slew" box unticked & "Afterburner Detent" - - Always Off. All my System settings are maxed out with V-Sync ON.
I forgot to mention the up & down slider on the front of the throttle in between my TDC Slew & Wheel Brake switch.. I don't have it slaved to anything because I found I was bumping it all the time.

I didn’t think I would like the CM3 throttle when I first got and coming from a TM Warthog Hotas for years but Im finally accepting it and wow ! It’s a quality built piece of goodness. I haven’t got into the Virpil software yet as far as setting up the button configs everything works perfectly well right out of the well shipped box. Loving the Virpil gear for sure. Thanks for vid 👍🏻

You made a good choice M a k o brother. Takes a little getting used to & I too came from TM Warthog Throttle n Stick.. which was good too but this is step up into the big league. Thanks for your support man 🙏🙂

@@GazAce I'm waiting for a rainy day to set everything up. Do you have a PDF showing the mapping?

Great video, the last little pull I needed to switch from the Warthog hotas to the Virpil hotas.
It's gonna make my wallet a lot smaller, but hey, quality never comes cheap.
The only "disadvantage" ... only the throttle they have in stock, the Stick and Base are back-oder which could last a month or two.
Nevertheless ..... it's something worth waiting for. Thanks a bunch.

Your welcome brother huigsnellenburg6144 & weirdly enough the exact moment you left this comment I was replying to a request in ED Forum messages to leave my mapping profile for this Throttle & Stick set up for someone, which I can also do for you if you wish as a starting point, then you can alter with changes later as you wish, no worries at all but it's only for the Hornet though.
You will love Virpil & in my opinion they're light years ahead of Thrustmaster. Not saying TM is bad or anything, I had many years of enjoyment from my TM Warthog Throttle n Stick but after updating just to Virpil, I think in relation to durability & precision, it was my best choice. Thanks for watching brother.

@@GazAce It's done, I have placed the order.
I'm kind of used to the Warthog throttle (for the F/A 18C) and considering the "muscle memory" I have build over the years
it is better for me to map it as close as posible - for most buttons and switches - as it is mapped on the Warthog.
There wil be a lot more possibilities/options with the Virpil for which I will refer to this video for sure.
Thank you so much for the offer.
I will get back to you as soon as I have received this wonderfull piece of craftsmanship, which has clearly taken the wishes of the virtual pilots into account.
BTW .. when I fly MP in DCS my name is Yogi 5-1/HuggyBear

Really awesome mapping and video, thanks for taking the time to showcase this. Any chance of getting a export of this profile? I've just received my cm3 throttle, had the alpha R for a while now. Finally looking forward to enjoying the f18. I'd take the time to make a pdf mapping of it and send you it as a thank you for sharing with us.
    Cheers!

Hey there OfficialVoxDzn, very much appreciate your kind words man. Thanks kindly for the PDF offer but I'm all good with that. Hit the little envelope tab in ED Forum & send me a mesg ( same name GazAce ) & I'll reply with my F-18 mapping profile, no problemo 👍

Hey Gaz! Great video! It's something I've always wanted to see. I have a Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and it's nice but I've been eyeing the Virpil one which you have and always wondered how well it works and what people do with all of the buttons etc. It looks like you've got a great setup! I watched your other video and thought it was pretty cool seeing how you have it all working. I have a Virpil CM2 base for my stick and use the Thrustmaster Hornet stick on it and it's great. I've been looking at the Virpil one too though and really like it. (very nice looking PC too!).

Thanks Stri][kerTV brother! I really enjoy my Virgil gear, was well worth the money in the end. The PC I built near two years ago now but still runs well & DCS looks awesome which is the main reason why I built one with high end specs.. i9-10900K, RTX 3090, 64GB etc & other games run beautifully too. The ASUS XG349C monitor & the AIO cooler NZXT Kraken 63 was the last thing I upgraded with. Also, very much liking the Cougar MFD / Cubesim screens too, they ad a nice level of immersion. I won’t be upgrading my rig for some time yet. She still kicking along nicely. Thanks kindly for your support & look out for a good little mission coming soon… Operation: Slam Dunk 😉

@@GazAce I'm looking forward to the mission and definitely will fly it! I'm getting ready to upgrade my system once the newer CPU's are out. I might go with the next AMD 3DX CPU's which should be out Q1 of 2023. I'm still on my aging i9-9900K and while I am happy with the performance, I know I could do better. I grabbed my video card in April of 2022 and it's been pretty solid (RTX 3990ti) but I'll admit that I'm eyeing a 4990ti once it's available in order to improve VR (coupled with the new CPU). Constantly chasing the rabbit..

@@StrIIker-TV Nice one brother but be wary of the 4090.. don't throw your hard earned $$$ at one until they've ironed all the bugs.. ie frying connectors lol 🦟🐝🐜🦗😮

    • @StrIIker-TV
      @StrIIker-TV Před rokem +1

@@GazAce yeah, it’s going to be a while until the 4090 ti is out and by then they should have addressed the issues with the peer cables. I think part of the issue is around having the wires pressed by the case side panel as the card is too high to truly fit into most cases. My first focus though is a new system. I expect to see some good improvements when coupled with my 3090 ti.
