Have you tried hooking this up with Apple Carplay or Android Auto? I have bought this unit myself and looking to also setup Carplay on it. Great video btw.
For your data connection while on the move, do you have to use the 3G link or can/do you connect through your smartphone? I'm assuming that you didn't have an OEM backup camera on your car, correct? What's the mfr and part number for the unit you're highlighting here? Finally, did your steering wheel controls continue to work for this new HU? I definitely like the OEM-look that this unit has. Good Video. For quick boot , did you connect the yellow wire for constant power? I tried to install similar unit in my car and it seems to reboot each time !
Also at night, it is super bright and unit is not on "Dim" for night mode. Do i need to connect the Illum: wire ? Can you share your experience on these two points and how you solved them?

Did the camera with the new System have night vision when you back up like the Toyota Dealership camera and face plate does
This definitely improves the cabin aesthetic of that gen Prius. Cause to be honest the worst think about that Prius was Toyotas lack of care to make a nice interior.

I don't know, but the bottom line is you could use a bluetooth OBD2 scanner and use an Android app like Dr. Prius to pull some of the data.

How do you change settings on the car, smart key, headlight off timer, day time driving lights? These are normally controlled through vehicle settings on the stock head unit.

Not on this gen Prius with the non gps head unit. On my 2011 Prius II I have the dumb head unit just like this guy started with. You control nothing other than media through it. Also, the 2011 Prius does not have automatic DRLs in the USA. (I have the dash sensor and all wiring but apparently the USDM spec never had it enabled. The JDM spec does) DRL function such as it is is just a decent on the headlight switch. There also is no setting for headlight off timer. I believe it’s 30s by default. As far as smart key, idk what you mean by that. The key fob only has lock, unlock, and panic. It’s not a smart key fob.
You can use an app like Dr. Prius through an OBD reader

Welp with that youtube app you can listen to game osts and other music through that which i think is better than radio but downside of course would be you are using mobile data so be cafeful everyond who may do this

Great vid! I have been waiting for reviews on these units. Do you know if they have the ability to display the hybrid car info too? Charging, draining, battery levels, those things that hybrids typically display to the driver.
for 3rd gen prius that info is displayed on the same screen where the MPH is displayed not the head unit.
Seems that the radio head unit runs the display has anyone figured out if the right side of the steering wheel works

Anybody know what happens to the HUD in Prius models that have one? Does it simply stop functioning? Is it plugged into the head unit or somewhere else?
You will only loose the navigation in the HUD which I never used anyway, all other functions work. I don't have this unit but I have an aftermarket head unit in mine. Self install. You will need intermediate skills to install.

Why not go with an after market head unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto? I assume because straight Android is more customizable than Android Auto?
Probably cheaper too. An Android Auto compatible head unit only comes from brands like Kenwood or Pioneer and those *begin* at $450
Tony Hong Theres actually some pretty decent ones on Amazon starting around $250. It's way cheaper than the unit in the video.

Ewelina Kurowska Not "designed for Prius" per say. They are double din units. You get a double din dash kit to make it fit in your dash. The unit itself isn't "for a certain make or model" but the dash kit is what make it fit if that makes sense :)
I like that it looks stock but do you think it supports google Assistant? From what he showed it didn’t look like it accepted voice commands. Would rather spend a couple hundred extra on a pioneer unit for this reason.

Not all cars will support this. Some have controls on the old unit that just wont work on Android. I have for example bunch of engine stuff, ESR, firmware upgrade..

Does this support Android Auto? It seems like you're simply replacing your phone with a head unit.
There’s an adapter for it. I have one for my Mercedes and it has Apple CarPlay.
