    I’ve tried to replace the earpiece as the initial one sounded very distorted and it was fine on calls but on audio output you can only hear the sound if you place your ear by the earpiece

    If you look close enough you will see the layer of dirt on the ear speaker, try to rub it with the brush until you see it at least partly clean again, aka the dirt is gone. Doesn't have to clean the whole thing as it's difficult (it's small), but as long as part of it is dirt free, even just a thin line, it makes a whole world of difference. Try it out.

    Thank you so much! The swab thing did the job perfectly, and without canned air, only the swab and after a little bit of alcohol (very very little amount drop in the cotton, to remove all the leftover grease and dirt.) Then clean swab again. And this also works on the bottom speaker too. If you dont have canned air like me, i recommend double sided elastic tape, cover the bottom speaker holes and with a toothpick just gently push the tape inside the little holes, (Really gently,and not with force! You dont want to break the grills and/or push in the dirt.) Do a few rotation moves carefully on each hole with a now “tape covered” pick, and pull off the tape. You will see, how much dirt come out from this tiny holes. This method will improve the sound quality and fix the quiet speaker problem to. Again, Thanks for the video!

      @@SurrealAdventure agreed. a slightly damp q-tip with 91 or 99% IPA will work wonders. Rub it back and forth on both ends of the q-tip and then gently blow to help the IPA evaporate. But you're right... there'll always be that one person that soaks the phone grill or q-tip and ends up getting IPA under the display and causes streaking under the display. 99/91% IPA isn't as conductive as plain old tap water, but it still does contain 1-9% water. Not the best idea to get too much into the internals of the phone but I dont think it'd hurt if a smidge did enter through the bottom speaker holes.

    • @SurrealAdventure
      @SurrealAdventure  Před 3 lety

      Best guess is the case you have it in. The speakerphone uses multiple mics, one of which is on the back, sometimes cases reflect sound that causes the noise cancellation to ruin the sound. If it’s in a case try taking it out, also try tuning noise cancellation off in the phone settings. If that doesn’t work, likely there is a problem with one or more of the microphones...

    I just got an iPhone XR last two weeks ago and I haven’t done this solution yet but the ear speaker sounds like the bass is super loud and disrupts my CZcams videos I’m watching because it makes it all staticky noises also makes people sound like I’m speaking to them on a old radio.

    • @SurrealAdventure
      @SurrealAdventure  Před 3 lety +1

      not sure about the bass, but sounding like your on an old radio may be because of the case you have it in. There is usually a little mic on the back of the iphone, usually next to the cameras/flash (the tiny hole) and sometimes cases can block that, or cause the sound to reflect wrong to it. The iphone generally uses that mic while on a call to do noise cancellation, so make sure it's clear. You can also try turning off noise cancellation in the phone call settings.

    A great big thanks to you Ed 😀. I have an iPhone 12 and got muffled audio calls from the top speaker. I tried your q-tip and it’s back to normal !! You saved me a lot of stress down here 🇹🇹 😎

      Next time, if a solvent is needed use rubbing alcohol, and hold the phone in such a way that gravity keeps the alcohol out of the housing (upside down).

      That can of air isn't really a thing in many parts of the world. On my last cleaning video, which got over 1 million views, a lot of people asked "where am I supposed to get air in a can?". Air compressor is the next best thing, but straw works too.
