- Oli Pickles is the owner of iDoctor, a repair shop for all things phone- and tech-related. Customers will bring in iPhones that no longer charge or have dust-clogged speakers or dirty interiors. Part of the repair process for these iPhones is a thorough deep cleaning of each hole, speaker, charging port, and screen. Oli uses small metal picks and brushes to remove tiny pieces of debris out of 4 different phones, making them look brand new.

If he's so disgusted by touching all the gunk, why can't he simply wear thin rubber gloves?
doesn't have any and he is not as disgusted as he shows, plus he is mostly using tools
And a mask!!!
He secretly likes it
If you're so daft, why don't you simply stop leaving comments?
He collects all the junk for later...
Been doing the same thing working as a technician in a Apple certified retailer. A great way to finish up the job is to use some form of cleaning putty for the bottom speaker grills and top speaker grills; you can get rid of the left over gunk
can you please help me with the cause of error 10 in itunes and phone is stuck in recovery mode. already tried everything from apple support website
@@ramanbhadu1 I am not familiar with error codes for iTunes as we use Apple configurator for pretty much all our restores. Judging from what you're saying it sounds like you're experiencing a hardware error which means it either fell in liquid or suffered some physical damage. There is unfortunately no way to fix this.
100%/99% alcohol safe to use?
I cleaned out the charge port yesterday. It was incredible how much came out. Before I did it, it wouldn’t charge unless the cable was in the perfect position. After cleaning it seemed brand new and the charger clicked in
My husband's phone gets clogged and stops charging and I always clean it out for him
I couldn't figure our why he was having the issue but I wasn't
And that's because he puts his phone in his pocket. I put mine in my bra or I put it in my pocket upside down so that lint isn't being forced into the charger port.
same but was afraid i destroy something so after trying i stopped and bought a new phone it was old and crackt screen any way but after some time i need a extra phone so i rely scratch and pluck inside the charge port and a mass if clump came lose and out and it work perfect again
@@ebonimom6964¿que usa para limpiar?
Para que pueda limpiar mi teléfono sin causarle daño
I used to work at a second hand phone retailer, cleaning peoples phones was the best part of the job! So satisfying! I miss doing it
Amazing cleaning work..!! Thank you for the update, Insider..!!
🤓Wow! You, Sir, win the internet today! vibes
After it started to become increasingly difficult to get the charging cable into the USB-C port on my Android Pixel 4a phone, and thus to charge it, I was able to resolve the issue with a sewing needle. After turning the device off I was able to use a fine sewing needle to fish out all of the lint and compacted debris at the bottom of the charging port, after which it became easy to plug in and charge the phone. This is a task that you need very good close up vision to accomplish, as I'm short sighted, fortunately just taking my glasses off gives me extremely good close up vision.
Funnily enough I had exactly the same issue, on the same phone. I actually had enough gunk collect in there that the charger no longer plugged in fully flush to the phone, so I fished it out with a very pointy compass
I ended up undoing a paper clip to clean out the port
Did the same exact thing with my Pixel 4a. I couldn't properly charge it for months without perfectly positioning it and it would keep popping out unless the phone was perfectly stable. Forget about trying to charge it in a moving vehicle. Was this close to buying a new phone until I did this and removed 2 years worth of gunk in the charging port. Now it clicks in like a charm and stays there
You don't need that good of vision. Just know that USB C ports have the piece in the middle and try not to bend it. Also I'd recommend not using something metal as it could potentially scrape off the contacts inside. Otherwise just try to scoop it out, don't need to be able to see inside it really.
@@An4lAvenger I tried 'scooping it out', which didn't work as the lint was compacted hard. There was no danger of scraping off the contacts or bending the middle piece as this was an extremely fine and sharp needle which went nowhere near either, but did require precision guidance, only possible with good close-up vision.
Thank you so much for this! My charging port had been getting clogged, but I couldn't see inside well and I didn't want to tinker with it and damage it further. But after seeing a professional just stick a tiny metal object inside the port and clean it out, I felt confident to do it myself. I cleaned out way more lint than I had expected, and the port works good as new now! Can't remember the last time I felt that satisfying snap when I plug my charger in!
Thank you Mr Pickles!
I love this video and how the guy works. Pure ASMR.
Being able to give our phones a second life to reduce waste is such a blessing 🙏🏻😊♥
Mine isn’t as bad as what is shown here, but the speaker grilles and and charging port are starting to accumulate a thin layer of detritus. I’m going to try and find a way to clean it out so I can preserve the longevity of my phone.
I use pure port for iphone and it works very well.
What about AirPods? What’s the best way to increase the volume and restore the microphone? I’d imagine it’s even worse than an iPhone when it comes to dirt and grime.
They have a video on that too
@@jayasmrmore3687 Nice, thanks 👍
@jayasmrmore3687 they have a video on cleaning Wheat out of airpods?!?!

thanks Oli Pickles
I never could understand how someone could let it go so bad instead of cleaning it from time to time
sometimes people go through hard times in life and don't have time for small things like that.
because they dont know why its happened in the first place
because most people dont have tiny utensils good for it
LAZY people, there are many game console owners like this too and then later complain/cry about their game console overheating/being loud.
Thanks for this, it’s great!
can you put a link to some of the cleaning tools you use?
WE FINNA BE UNGUNKING PHONES WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🙏🗣🗣🔥🗣🔥🥶🥶‼️‼️‼️
Thank you.
off topic but as a nail tech i wanna do this mans nail care so bad
They really upload it every year, the same video again and again. This might be 4th time.
This is the comment I was looking for 😅
He said iPhone and 2007 that right there had me like 🧐 that iPhone is a paperweight.. yeah this is hella old
You know the videos are different right?
No idea how people look at their phone like this and are okay with it
Love cleaning videos
That cleaning sound saved my phone right now 😂 legit
How did I know he was going to show pulling weed out of at least one. Ha! Here's a hack to keep this from happening in the first place. On any newer gen iPhone (I can't speak to Android phones) there is no holes at the top of the device. Any and every time I slip my phone into my pocket, I simply stuff it top down/in first. Voila! No gunk in my ports. Satisfying video mate, and might I add you seem to do exceptional work as well cheers to you and your craft good sir!
tool: ready to remove
vacuum: hold my dust
For some odd reason I had no wooden toothpicks at home, so I carefully used a paperclip and it worked very well. I can fully penetrate the charger in my phone
Very satisfying! Makes me want to get that same scraper and use it on my phone lol
I don't wear much things that make a lot of lint so I never really had that issue, usually it's just cargo shorts for me lol
Why do i find this satisfying ? I mean i am watching this video at 1 am in my bed 😁
I've had two instances of tech support with this problem, one was pocket lint, the other was a small bead like from jewelry.
I work in trauma/ERs. Handling blood and other bodily fluids from patients is a daily hazard of my job.😬 That said, THIS is also quite nasty. Who'd thought that all of that crap would have been in there - and is so close to our faces! YUCK!
One word here. GLOVES? Ok, a couple of words. GLOVES and MASK (N95)?😁
The reason I say that is because there are plenty of FATAL airborne diseases you can possibly acquire, just by simply doing ur job. THANK YOU. Take care ❤
Funnily enough, seeing lots of blood coming out of an injury makes me feel sick, but cleaning technology like this is becoming a hobby. I wonder what the difference is?
I have to clean out the charging port on my Galaxy once a week because if I don’t, my charger won’t fit due to the lint in there. I just use a pin from a name tag. Works fine for me
What equipment do you use? My Galaxy keeps on doing this and won't charge.
So satisfying
was listening to caroline polachek welcome to my island and 6:47 aligned really well with the chorus thank you
What an amazing album and song.
My phone stopped charging and I had use a wireless charger, didn’t want to know how much apple would make me pay for a « repair »
This video popped up and has been my saving grace, so thank you 🙏
(Lint was apparently in the port…😅)
I support Insider trying to replace the High Mode hole in my soul
soo satisfying
I've cleaned my charging ports after watching this video and it feels like my phone has a second life! Thanks!
and you can do it (cleaning) easily in your home with toothpick and needle, except for replacing the dust protection of course))
I just lick mine clean 🤷♂️
same
"There was weed in the charging port" funniest line of the video
the guy was literally using his iPhone as a grinder or idk 😂
Prob just in his pocket lol
Imagine paying someone to clean out a port on a phone. And theres no way that first phone wasnt staged for this video.
I've never in my life seen such lint in my phone, I have had the same phone for years and never has anything gone into the charging port
Because you´re a lady, so you keep your phone in your purse, not in your pocket, as the most of the guys.
No I don't have a purse and it isn't that common to have a purse anymore so that didn't really make sense@@Tiamarruca
Plus I am not a lady@@Tiamarruca
@@hulda4ever well, his point still stands, ladys are more neat, you cant compare the pocket of some pants that gets washed every week to guy's durable jeans, as most guys washes their pants like once a year.
I know a lot of men and they wash their pants regularly and you are only talking for yourself not other men@@yunhel
Satisfying
Oli Pickles is the most cartoonish name I’ve heard in a long time 😂😂
The side by side before and after at 7:33 is clearly two different phones shot at the same angle. One has a polished chrome type edge to the phone and the other is a matt grey plus the screen protector alignment is different
Oli Pickles just screams professional phone cleaner.
Professional lint picker. Sign me up.
5:38 looks the same just darker
I WAS having my breakfast right now.
Coward.
I lol'd
Then, do >NOT watch this!!!
i read Oil Pickles

You can really help yourself if you put your phone with the bottom part facing up.
Me excitedly looking at my iPhone to remove lint🤩 but clean as a whistle 😩
Never had this problem as I take care of my things and I clean it daily.
I like how its totally the same phone being shown at 7:33 (the case isn’t the same)
Is this BGA scraper non conducive?
What should I search for to clean my charging port?
im curious when you're cleaning the grille, seems like you're just liquifying and mashing all that dust down onto the speaker itself, why not use some type of suction to remove it before it gets down to the speaker
Pulled a lot of zaza pit of that port
That’s a good amount of weed in there lol
Is anyone going to talk about how this guy’s last name is Pickles? I am very jealous of him…
when you play the sound how to i make sure in settings to configure my phone to have sound coming out of the front microphone is there any way to test that out
What about the cracks, the thin spaces along the phone where u handle it
Probably should've re-worded what he said about the rice. It DOES draw moisture from the phone but depending on how water damaged the phone is depends on if it will work again afterwards.
My husband's phone stopped charging and I asked when was the last time you cleaned the charge port and he said "do what?" 😮
So are we just gonna ignore one of the funniest jokes I've ever heard 😂 while staying true 00:58
A lot of weed in that pocket
The bits of weed in that one phone got me
Are you using a metal pick? Is that dangerous? I'm assuming some pins could get shorted but that maybe a wrong assumption? Thank you
Not anywhere in the speaker grills or charge port can you short it. The pins are there only to receive power or send data signals. It's why most phones are rated at some capacity to take a swim for a bit and be fine. He doesn't use the metal pick near the circuit board once it's open, just on the edges to scrape up the sealant.
I think these iphone have been used by horses in stables
Why is no one talking about the before and after shots were literally different phones??
What tools and microscope do you used?
Yo just imagine he finds little spider eggs inside that phone😃
It goes from oddly satisfying to somehow terrifying 😀👍🏽
>spider eggs
If it was in an Australian phone, I'm burning it 💀
Imagine you're talking on the phone getting some really bad news and when you thought it couldn't get any worse a ton of baby spiders start crawling into your ear.
@@KingC89 oh god that’s terrifying-
4:17 Thank you I will now go clean out my phone's speaker.
This be making me check my devices
What is that air blower? Does it use compression from one's hand?
Listening to a dude named O. Pickles say "Goonk" over and over is the thing I didn't know I was missing until today
So this is what my dealer is doing when he says he "can't tell me where he gets his weed from"?
wow he is so talented. He can clean a phone. A 5 year old could do this.
That’s why mine is in a case. Seriously people! You’re savages.
hey big tooth are those tools non metallic?
Blue tack is much better for cleaning the speaker and mic grills.
Where are they putting this this phone?! Omg!
Did everyone check their charging ports as soon as he mentioned it hahah 😅😂
You might have to do a backflip and stand on your head just to make it charge😂💀
Why did I click on this and watch it? And more importantly why did I enjoy it?
the ear speaker doesn't look so cleaned, prolly the hardest to clean up
@5:37 ..... well.... that's a fail....? still looks very dirty..
by the way, should we not worry about pushing more gunk into the wire mesh with this method? what's underneath the mesh?
Rice trick does work btw
worlds most satisfying task
Wish I could get mine cleansed 😂
For a second i thought my guys name was oil pickles
Doing this stuff for my family’s phones with a wooden toothpick.
I have been using my phone for 5yrs now. It has not reached this extremely unpleasant phase.
Same. And I've had mine 4.
If you clean it it’ll look new. I have a 6S from 2016 and there is not even a speck of dirt on the speakers or microphones.
Where can I find these cleaning tools?

What is that hook called, and where can I get one?
