- Expensive, intense and shockingly fast: the McLaren 765LT is no friendly supercar. Chris Harris is kept on his toes by this 750bhp track special with monster racing pedigree that's capable of speeds over 200mph. Definitely too fast for the road - but is it a fair contest when up against the Aston Martin V8 Vantage F1 Edition and the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm in a Top Gear drag race?

@@Robert-Cinque777 Unfortunately, Aston have really let themselves go in terms of total performance in their road cars, especially the last few generations.
Yes, they're big, bold and beautiful, and make a beautiful noise, but they are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Their DBS Superleggera still won't beat my stock McLaren 570S Spider. I don't even think it'll beat my 2018 Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible, except maybe at top speed.
Don't get me wrong: I 'love my little 2016 Aston Martin V-8 Vantage GT, but mostly for how it sounds, drives, rides, and looks... but if I want speed, there are better choices in my Garage.
Shoulve stuck a GT3 into the drag race for a laugh. Brilliant video.
When chris drive the gt3 as the racingdriver he is he has done the comp against the senna before. Senna wasnt in near so fast round the track.
I'm sorry, but the most impressive thing about this episode of Top Gear was Chris coming within _one second_ of Lando Norris's time in that 765LT... after not only had Lando done his lap, but then done some egregious doughnuts afterwards, to cook the tires some more. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Harris could have _beaten_ Norris's time if the laps had been done in reverse order.

I think Senna seats and brakes are among the most expensive options, which this car appears to have.
$125k full carbon fiber everything, $20k track brakes, $10-30k for MSO paint, Titanium Wheel Bolts 2k! xD etc

I wonder if there’s ever been a drag race with a car that was so fast they needed to start breaking before the finish line to avoid running off the track.
It would have been good to have a 911 turbo s in the lineup.
The 765LT is hypercar fast, head and shoulders above the others.

This show went from catering to whole world to only UK now a days. The title Topgear has a big responsibility on it.

992 GT3 are unbeatable at the msrp! Except that their allocation for that money exists only in the universe of famous car journalists and other vip people. To all the others it’s about twice that much! 😂

You have to spend more? No you don't, Car & Driver just did their 2023 Lightning Lap testing and the C8 Z06 did a lap time within .2 seconds of this very car, and significantly faster than the latest GT3 (2 seconds). And not only is it a LOT cheaper than the McLaren, it is naturally aspirated, and it is also considerably cheaper than the GT3. They are also working on a forced induction version of the Z06 (ZR1 version), and one with the forced induction flat plane crank and an electric drive front thousand plus HP Zora version. That should be competing with hyper cars only for a LOT less money.
I watched a video about the production line for the C8 Z06 and they had some right hand drive Z06's being built, so you should start seeing them in the UK and Europe soon.

They have a motor that runs after shut off that circulates the oil through until Temps decrease to where the developers were satisfied.

0-120 in 7 seconds, the Bugatti Chiron does it in 5.7, shows how staggeringly fast the Chiron is.
That’s mainly due to four wheel drive

Take the Chiron on a racetrack and it would get owned by the 765LT and many other cars of the same power/weight ratio. Under braking, the Chiron would lose all its acceleration advantage, let alone cornering ability.
