I just about cry when I realize it’s seven years after this was shot, I simply can’t believe it.

8 years later and this is still the definitive car video. Capturing the moment the motoring world took a step forward, the level of accessible geekery, the pure joy and the utterly sublime camera work. Amazing work. Great car btw!
Nearly a decade later and i still come back to this video regularly. This is just pure art.
This video isn't just a testament to the McLaren P1, it is also a testament to Chris Harris' driving prowess. He is this generation's Tiff Needell. An unassuming, charming and very affable person who can get in any car and immediately drive it to it's limit and beyond. A person who's skills are coveted by many, and who entertains us mere mortals immensely.

Underrated driver
No way, Chris is good but no Timothy Needell. Tiff is also good at teaching, Chris isn’t. Chris never drove F1. Tiff did, shortly but he did. Driving F1, especially in those days take a special kind of driver. Tiff can do the greatest drifts and still talk and teach you how to also do it! Chris is still focussing on keeping the drift. Don’t get me wrong, a huge fan of Chris here but again, no Timothy Needell.
One of the things I really like about Chris Harris is that he asks smart questions and then actually LISTENS, thoughtfully, to the answers, and then asks more relevant questions.
Great to watch if you're interested in cars. Actually interested in cars rather than just watching hot videos. (which I also love)

+Bruce R. P1 is beautiful and hyper fast. Porsche doesn't look as good to me. I would get pagani new H car over Porsche just for the looks.
Who cares about your opinion.... the 918 is absolutely gorgeous and is the most unique hyper car ever built. Anyways, I was talking about performance in my original comment, to date, the 918 has 14 track record around the world while the P1 only has 4......
+Bruce R. You have to watch Chris LaFerrari video again. He states near the end at around 11:40 of P1 and LaFerrari in a class of 2. It seems after those comments he hasn't compared or mentioned 918 to the rwd hybrids in recent videos.
I had to laugh at Chris' comment, "You can just throw it around...." Chris YOU can "...just throw it around!" Nearly anyone else might possibly achieve one "Throw" and then experience the most cataclysmic cloud of rocks and dust and smoking feces. There are really few individuals that don't hold a valid FIA Super license that could ever get nearly that much out of this phenomenal car. Thanks Chris, for taking us on a ride that allows the average petrol-head to live vicariously through your evening in Dubai... in that cute little black car!!!!!!! ;^)

Imagine the uptight people at Ferrari being this cool and self assured.
To put into perspective how McLaren and Ferrari looks at things this is an example. McLaren's Boss Ron Dennis said this in an interview when Ayrton Senna joined Alain Prost in their F1 Team - "We are confident that we have the two best drivers in the world, the two most professional drivers in the world as well. And if we are not consistently in the winning circle, then we certainly cannot put the blame on the drivers." Which means he is ready to accept that the car is not good if the results say so. But when Prost switched to Ferrari a few years later and he criticized that the car was not fast enough he was simply fired from the team.
That was indeed a good moment, as you see Chris transform into Giddy Chris, like Jim Carrey does in Me Myself and Irene as he goes into Hank mode. Effin great!

Mr Harris, I continue to come back to this video every time someone asks me what my dream car would be... No rules, no money just that car... I will always come back to this film with you spanking a P1, backing it in to the corner and giving the viewer's a strange yet excited expression! It's still a whole new thing!
I find it quite amusing that McLaren, the brand most associated with being anal and sensible out of the big three, goes ahead and produces the car which has the most drama and theater in its blood, looks and driving dynamics. Don't get me wrong, I love all three of the hyper hybrids but the McLaren seems to have the more "hyper" character, Porsche with its "sensible form follows function" touch and Ferrari with its "elegant" take on the same concept. Three marvelous machines built around the same principle but couldn't be any more radically different from each other. Massive respect to all the people that are responsible for bringing these things to life. ^-^

Amazing review. The whole video production is insanely good! I love the P1 and the Yas Marina circuit since I first watched this.
My dream car. When I get successful, this is the first supercar I will buy out of my whole dream collection. What a beauty. The breaking and handling makes the bugatti look like a Suburu. The speed is amazing and the feeling of driving one must be an amazing experience. A v8 engine, 903 hp, just amazing. Better than a Bugatti without a doubt and one of the best supercars out right now.
Have 10 million dollars ready then and I am serious. Get a nice supercar like the Aston Martin Vantage roadster for around 50k like I did and be realistic

One important factor about this car is that it displays with glamorous, compelling persuasiveness, that electric and hybrid modes of propulsion are much higher performing and nicer driving than gas powered cars. And the aura the Mclaren creates about electrical technology, mistrusted and disliked by the larger consuming public, will change peoples minds and purchasing choices. With climate change and the degeneration of the environment, and geo political problems with oil on all levels, the sooner electric and hybrid cars take over the market, the better. So the Mclaren has symbolic value for the world, as well as sheer fascination and performance. Thanks for the great show Chris.

Really enjoy Chris' reviews and I've watched a ton of them and I don't ever remember him being at a loss for words nor having a look in his eyes of someone who's just been blown away. I dream about driving a P1 more than any other car and watching this video, which I have more than once, makes me want to so much more. And I own and love Porches and my favorite badge has a prancing horse on it.
