    A couple notes:
    1) When attacking Sartosa, I said "just like the next siege" but I meant "just like the last siege." I hope that's not too confusing.
    2) Combination of money and movement issues meant I didn't recruit a plague priest and I didn't say when I would. Turn 20 is a good time because you can recruit one in Miragliano, sail him over to Tobaro, then have Ikit transfer the plagueclaw catapults into your sacking army, where the plague priest can come meet him.
    As usual, I'm happy to answer questions about the strategy, so comment away!

      @@monochromaticspider I've never found research rate to be that bad with skaven. I just avoid a lot of techs. Plus, just to get to Monstrous abominations in the tree takes a lot of time anyway. Hi Dame, I just wanted to say, I've been giving this a bit of a go on Legendary myself to see how it goes, and I found that you can (even on Legendary difficulty) ask Khazrak for 2000 gold every few turns and he just gives it to you every time. I've tried this out in multiple runs and he always says yes to the gold (usually every 3-6 turns). Just a little added bonus that makes it a touch easier. Thanks for the guide, it's been a great help 🙂

    Hey, nice comprehensible guide as usual! Please let me add a few comments:
    - the spot "right there" at Tobaro to have lords spawn outside the settlement is exactly one tile left of the small torch next to the road. The general concept behind this is covering most of a settlement, but not all of it, with your lords´ zone of control so a new enemy lord (or any, really) can´t enter it. This is possible with many settlements on the map, but it´s usually not worth the hassle. In this case, there is both an easy landmark and a good reason (fast leveling), so you´re really missing out if you´re not doing it.
    It´s slightly harder to judge if you´re already standing on the correct spot if the lord is on a doomflayer. Then, just move away a bit and come back. High corruption also makes the torch harder to spot but it´s still there.
    - I usually add a Burrow to the undercity right away, for various reasons. One, sooner than later, you´ll want to autoresolve Tobaro every turn just to speed the process up. The replenishment rate from the Burrow allows you to stay in the region (next to the torch) to raid while keeping your lord health up, else autoresolve will eventually wear him out.
    Second, the extra movement is really handy once rebellions show up, as they tend to retreat rather long distance around this area (for me at least).
    It´s also cheap.
    - Estalias actions highly depend on Khazrag. The video looks like he besieged and/or razed Magritta early on, which is common. However, he might not do that right away, or lose to Estalia. In this case, you have to make preparations to deal with a stack of man-things pretty early.
    What happens regularly in my campaigns is that after taking out Magritta, he comes over to Tobaro. However he can´t attack it if it´s already sacked, so it´s important to do so every turn so you don´t lose your food/xp factory.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @DameOffensive
      @DameOffensive  Před 2 lety +3

      All good points! I usually add the burrow eventually and say that in my undercity guide!
      I restarted a few times and found that Khazrak was laying siege to their capital by turn 5 in all of the starts. So even if they survived there over time, they were stuck for a little bit. And yeah as long as you keep sacking at Tobaro, which is part of the plan. Shouldn't have any problems!

    So, because I've been having enormous trouble with skaven, I have been trying to follow this exactly (on Easy, because I was working on the basis that if I could manage a curb-stomp, at least I'd have PLAYED the Skaven).
    Would you believe this is actually much, much, MUCH harder on Easy? The enemy don't spawn in Tobaro more than occasionally, which means of course no three combats per rounds and the consequent significant loss of food. The battle at Miragliano was incredibly hard (because Ikit was not high enough level to have his doomflayer); I only scraped by with the victory points with seconds to spare, as Ikit had routed, and the other Lord, Doomflayer unit and hero were about to be overwhelmed.
    And, of course, because less combats, the raiding warload suffered severe casulaties beating a Tilaen rebellion which meant he couldn't sack Tobaro for a round while he got more troops (and I notice your lord has nearly a full stack by that point there), which was exactly enough time on turn 11 for the Beastmen to show up and demolish it along with my undercity. (Fortunately, the Tilean lord I could chase could immediately re-occupy it, so long as the beastmen stay off my back, I can maybe keep raiding it for a bit). I am also now very short of food (because of the lack of raiding), so it seems unlikely that if I can even take Sartosa, it really won't be Tier IV, it'll be, like Tier 1 or 2 and Skavenblight is nowhere near. (At this rate, it'll have a rebellion before I can get enough food...)
    To say that I am extremely frustrated at this point (having literally followed blow-by-blow a strataegy and STILL not making any headway is this century's understatement).
    Morning after edit: Though I have basically had to deviate from the script by this point, with a bit more struggling, I was FINALLY able to get skavenblight to Tier V on turn 23. Still have the beastmen to deal with, but this guide has, at least finally got me past the early game that has on the previous Skaven attempts, been basically a brick wall. THANK YOU!

      Me trying to follow the guide like ?? Where are u guys

  • @llumac007
    @llumac007 Před rokem

    Brilliant guide, but very frustrating to follow exactly for a few reasons.
    (Turns 1-7)
    1) The Tobaro Lord placement doesn't always work - sometimes the Lord will run away even if you have the correct spot. I thought this may be because I was missing the ambush, but that causes a battle with the settlement + Lord instead.
    2) The placement of Ikit and the plague lord on turn 5/6 is very important. If you are too close to Miragliano, they will spawn a Lord which makes the siege much much harder, and the Doomrocket will barely scratch him. If you head past Miragliano and try ambush there, the Lord will instead spawn with 3-4 units instead.
    3) If you are unlucky, a beast herd can spawn on T6 above Miragliano.
    Will update with my findings for the next turns.

    • @llumac007
      @llumac007 Před rokem

      For anyone curious about the Sartosa siege. I had to keep upping the cheese as I was having a hard time:
      1) Separate your army into three forces:
      - Force 1: Ikit and the doom flayers on the right gate
      - Force 2: your warlock, jezzails and weapons team, hidden on the far right in the trees
      - Force 3: everyone else, stacked on top of each other on the far left, in the trees
      2) Move force 1 to attack the right gate. Move force 3 forward on the left, until they are just out of range of the tower, as well as the mortar.
      3) When force 1 gets through, clear the gunners then push onto the mortars. You can use the explody suicide unit in the centre to damage the mortar.
      4) If a gunner stays on the right walls, use your warlock to clear them. Then move the jezzails and weapons team to the gate.
      5) With the mortar down and the right gate secured, the prometheans will be next. Lure them to your guns, using the warlock and Ikit to tank if you need.
      6) Take the victory point and mop up the remains with Ikit.

    I've been binging your Ikit related videos, a friend of mine convinced me to give them a shot after playing almost nothing but Vampires, and I love the Skaven so much! I think the only roadblocks I run into are battle related, mainly in terms of army composition when facing different factions. Skaven have the beastmen, dwarves, wood elves, carcassone and sartosa, alongside lizardmen declaring war at the start. Do you tend to stick with the same army compositions for all of these to hit a weakness particularly hard, or is it Nukes and Pewpewpew all the way down?

    • @DameOffensive
      @DameOffensive  Před 2 lety +1

      With Ikit's army, I'll keep the 2 plagueclaw catapults and give 2 to my sack army for more power. And I'll add the Regiment of Renown avalanche mortars and a couple plague priests. But mostly it's just skavenslaves.
      With other armies, I will add slightly more weapons teams units (usually 4 ratling guns, 3 jezzails, 2-3 mortars, 2 catapuls) and fill the rest with 1 warlock engineer, 1-2 plague priests, and skavenslaves. The rats are really really strong and I've found having the skavenslaves there helps with autoresolve a bit.

Took on to Sartosa but was low on food and needed 1 more sacking for Tier 4. The Beastman did me dirty an did the fastet Drive-By i've ever seen and razed Tobaro. So the Garrison + the new recruited Lord in Sartosa killed alot of my Units but i managed to get it to Tier 4 but after that with Tobaro AND Margritta razed i see no way i can get enough food to take Skavenblight to Tier 5. Lord spawned turn two. Yay easier experience!

    Beastmen took Bilbali.
    Estalia recruited at Magritta.
    Estalia sent armies towards Tobarro.
    Estalia defeats Beastmen army.
    Ikit's ambush attempt in Tilea failed at 90%, had to resolve manually, they had survivors, who retreated to Miragliano and began recruiting. I am now readying my assault, where autoresolve gives me close defeat. Hope that nuke does a LOT of damage.)

      @BenHyle Před 2 lety +1

      I used a menace below to try and trap the general so a nuke could land on his head, as that's really funny when it works. It didn't this time.
      I still took Miragliano. However, the Estalia holding the Beastmen off at Magritta was actually really Not Good for the Plan, as it meant they had three armies near Skavenblight that I couldn't just drive away. Lots of small things crept up on that, and I had to come back sooner, not get Sartosa, take Magrita instead, wipe out the Beastmen, and then a rebellion at Skavenblight AND Tobarro at the same time meant my sack-lord got attacked by the Skaven rebellion (which spawned with a bunch of rat ogres), pushing him away from blocking the Estalian rebels, who took Tobarro and ruined my sack settlement.
      Sad Skaven Noises were made.
      So, now Ikit is getting ready to go after the pirates, Skavenblight is tier 5, and the Wood Elves declared war on me,. So, you know, standard Skaven plan results, which is why I really enjoy them so much.

      If that's happening it means the beastmen did not attack Magritta in your campaign and you'll want to ambush the armies there. Unfortunately it does happen sometimes but the plan is very similar.
      Wait for them to send an army back to Tobaro, ambush attack it and fight manually so you can get another battle and get more experience. Then you can go to magritta to take them out if you'd like. You can do that instead of sartosa

      @DameOffensive  Před 2 lety

      You get 5 extra food capacity for every extra settlement. When you abandon Skavenblight, you lose 5. You would need to hold 3 additional settlements (Marigliano, Luccini, and Sartosa in this case) to get to 120 food.
