@@blackangel08 I really wish those who suggest this would say "Kevin is there". Some long time reactors can recognize that it's him, but newer reactors just get frustrated. It's just not PTX when you can't at some point see all of them.
Kevin was putting away his cello but you can still hear him.
The intro they used here was "Christus Factus Est" (I believe, by Bruckner), a classic choral piece in Latin from the late 1800's. RIght before this, Kevin had performed a solo piece on his cello, so they put in a 4-part harmony piece to lead into "Aha" (and what a transition it was!) to give Kevin time to put away his cello backstage.
If you watch it again, notice that as Avi starts to go into his crazy low note part, Mitch and Scott start to move over closer to Kirstie to make room for Kevin on the right. In fact, you might notice a mark on the stage about halfway between Mitch and Kirstie that is probably Mitch's "mark" for stage placement when all five are lined up.
In fact, using "Christus Factus Est" as the lead-in was Avi's idea. He performed it in college with the chamber choir he was in, and it was a brilliant move to use the beginning of the piece. And since Mitch, Kirstie and Scott had also been in school choirs, they were also adept at sacred pieces like that. In case anyone's curious, here's a video of that college chamber choir performing "Christus", with Avi in the back row, about 4th from the left (look for the hair and beard). The story goes that Mitch had 2 Red Bull’s before the concert to combat jet lag. I believe Kevin joins in at the 4:07 mark after putting up his cello after his solo. The segway transition piece is gorgeous!

The fan who filmed this was obviously concentrating on Mitch. Kevin was putting away his cello at the beginning of the song, but then took his place next to Scott.
Of course they were, as Mitch is doing the main vocals.

As some people have already said, Kevin is putting away his cello at the beginning, and you can see Mitch move over towards the middle for him before the beginning of Aha, so he is there
I'm so sorry that none of the folks who suggested this also said "KEVIN IS THERE!" In the prior song, he was playing his cello, so they added a choral piece so he would have time to put it away. He came back on stage right before Aha! started, and he was standing next to Scott the whole time, although the person taking the video never shows him. But all those crazy beats and rattles and whooshes are him.
Kevin was putting the cello away hence why they did the weird Hym at the begining when Avi starts to kick in is when Kevin joins in he was there just not in the video the fan was focused on Mitch you should check out telephone live at Singapore vista star from the same tour 🙂

You do need to check out their official video for Aha. It tells a story more than a pure performance video. It is a fun video. Aha is a song by Imogen Heap, who is one of Mithch's inspirations. When she performs the song, she uses all sorts of items to make the music, it is very eclectic. I wish I could go back in time and be at this concert probably more so than any of their other performances. Mitch is on FIRE as they all are. Avi blows the speakers out with his bass, Kirstie and Scott are obviously in their own zones concentrating on their parts and killing them, and Kevin is just crazy talented with this. I have seen him say in an interview that this was the hardest song for him to learn and master the sounds for.

The song before this one had Kevin playing his cello (Beyonce') so he was putting the cello away at the start, but joined them on stage a moment later. He came in on Scott's left, Mitch and Scott moved slightly to the center and KO did his beatbox through the rest of the song. You never see him because the person recording this on their phone was focused in on Mitch. And somewhere during this concert, Avi blew the subwoofers out.

The official video is good too, just never understood the zombie theme - and Mitch doesn’t cut loose. There are several ‘lyric only’ videos out there to learn the words or better yet look for the live stream video with them on the couch, Avi and Kevin front and center - you can see and hear them clearly. As a woman who likes to sing, I wanted to have Mitch's voice so badly!
I'm a soprano, a high one, and he has almost the same range as me in the high part (but goes beyond with wistling), and can sing a perfect tenor.
Avi is a beast, a soft one in some of his solo work. Absolutely one of my favorite artists right now.

@@yfandes369 it is an occupational hazard around a cappella bass singers. Normally they bring their own equipment that will reset after a bit. There is a cute video of both Avi and Tim Foust from Homefree blowing speakers at different venues.
there ARE videos where mitch actually does rap -- check out Can't Hold Us, Problem, and Can't Sleep Love live at Popspring for some examples off the top of my head
also, some of those "wobbles" are a 1-2 combo of avi and kevin -- avi can do growly low notes, but for things like that kevin will often put a lip roll on top of it, giving it that "speaker blowing" sound effect. its sick

Lol!!!! In the beginning Kevin was in back putting away his cello from the previous song. If you listen you can hear his beatboxing. Watch closely, Kirsten moves as does Scott. Kevin comes back in between them. The video was shot by an audience member who never panned back over to the whole group.
The Avi sounds you're talking about I think is his overtones or maybe subharmonics. Another great base you might appreciate is Geoff Castelluci from the group Voiceplay. He does solo and group work, and his subharmonics will blow you out of the water.

Btw Scott took over as the vocal percussionist (beat box) for Kevin. He also takes over as bassist when Avi/Matt had a singing verse. The man can do it all!!!
There's a couple of live versions where you can actually see Kevin come in just before you hear him... a couple of them are less Mitch centric but we are all eternally grateful to Shane Nicole for uploading this version for us! The official music video is slightly less frantic, but you get a better gist of the story line and hear Avi's overtones !

Kevin is there; you can hear him. Just before this Kevin had been performing a cello demonstration and he was putting his cello back in the case at the beginning of the video. That classical stuff they were doing at the beginning was a time filler until Kevin could get back. The camera never shows him because the fan holding the phone that was filming it didn't think it was important to show him.

So here’s something new for you. Mitch & Scott have a CZcams channel called “Superfruit”, which is amazing in itself. They have many songs and videos on there, but seeing as you said you love rap...they do a phenomenal cover of “Feeling Myself”, where you will here Mitch rap.

Avi is amazing in this. For sure. But you definitely heard Kevin. One example is the part where you thought your headphones were gonna blow...that was Kevin and Avi together. It's hard in this one to distinguish who's doing what because the camera was mostly on Mitch. But all of them are doing ridiculous things. The syncopation from Kirstie and Scott is insane.
I think that's why they favor the separate panels in a lot of their Official videos....so we can see what everyone is doing...
... because they do so darn much.

I'm sure Kevin was there..he has a sound pad he stands on to the side in live shows. This was recorded on someone's phone so they probably just didn't show him. Imagine what it would sound like recorded on good equipment!

I like the Singapore version, and I’m glad that a fan caught this live performance, but where was the video crew to record it professionally? It’s a shame that there’s no live video of this . I’m glad there is the studio video, although the lyrics are a bit hard to follow unless you read them. “Cost you to keep me quiet” is my favorite line, although a lot of people online don’t understand what Mitch is saying. Someone I know that he was saying, You gotta keep me quiet. Lol

Kevin is just putting away his Cello after performing his solo. He comes in a little before he does the beat but was never shown on the video. But of course he’s there that’s why the gap in between Mitch and Kirstie was gone cause Mitch and Scott had to move for Kevin. ☺️

If you want to hear them rap react to can't hold us, problem, can't sleep love live at popspring, and sing, where Mitch all raps in (except in sing, which kevin raps). Scott also raps in can't hold us. If you want more of mitch singing I recommend a supercut video, feeling myself. Super fruit is a separate channel for Scott and Mitch

Try Dimash Kudaibergen, Mitch is amazing, but Dimash takes it to a whole different level. I recommend starting with his performance of SOS on I am Singer. He is from Kazakhstan singing a song in French while on a Chinese singing competition show for professional singers he all but won the competition. If it hadn't been for the fact for the first season they could not have someone not from China win, but he did come in at second. This performance launched him to international stardom. He has a vocal range of A1-D8 and has so many textures to his voice singing a variety of different styles and has to date sung in 16 different languages.
