Yes, that's our male golden retriever, Bud, but we lost him last summer. He was a great dog.
Nahh he still here
@@brianscott6054 Do you mean still here like his spirit is here?
Rip
This is one of my favorite Glock videos, ironically. It presents the Glock 27 so well, that this video was part of the reason why I got a Glock 27.
The 27 is my daily carry for 5 years. Love it.
bought a 27 two weeks ago and i,m very happy with it! we have been through 5 states and 400 rounds i would bet my life on it flush clips and all.thanks for the entertainment information and inspiration
The G27 does give a bit more recoil. Depends on how much you shoot as to whether it's too much, I think. For someone who doesn't shoot much at all, I recommend a 9mm, but for someone who loves to shoot and shoots a fair amount, the G23 or G27 is usually great.
My favorite Handgun!
"Best of both worlds" is exactly right. That's what I like about it.
hickok45 new comment to old video lol. Hope you’re well. Hands down the best fighting ccw pistol. “Not very short, not very weak” is right. Something about the fast hard action on that 27 build keeps me on target. Thanks for your contribution and example over the years
Yep, this is pretty much the one I depend on most of the time.
Wow! 12 years goes quick. Still lovin the H-45 video’s and my g27. 👍
just got one! good vid.

@fike301 , Not sure either. BAck when I used HOgue grips religiously on all my Glocks, I think I actually had to cut them a bit and tailor them to the Baby Glocks. Just for kicks I put sandpaper tape on a Glock I didn't shoot much (G30), and I began to fall in love with it. The Hogue grips made the guns bigger. They work well, but I much prefer the sandpaper type grips now.
I used HOgue slip-on grips for years and swore by them. When I discovered that sandpaper-type grips worked just as well and kept the gun small, I switched. Talon Grips are the best I've tried.
Thanks for the info hickok45! I was worried about the durabiity of grip tapes but after watching your video I realize that, as you said,"its all the same". If the tape is good enough to repeatedly stabilize a persons entire body weight on ladders or stairs, then it will definitly aid my pistol grip as well. Thanks for all your help. All your videos are golden!
Great gun,the things I've seen you do with all of your weapons impresses me,I like it when a person with your experience lets us see how you got so good and gives us younger guys pointers and "how to vids",and thanks for showing us your way of thing, some people like to keep their way's a "secret". Thanks Hickok, keep it up!
Yeah, many of us used that back in the '80s and early '90s before other stuff became available. It still works pretty well.
Once I tried sandpaper type stuff on my grips, though, I can't go back to rubber. I like the "sureness" I get in my grip, especially with large hands.
Since this video, I discovered the Talon Grips, so I don't have to do all the cutting I used to do.
My experience with the conversion barrels is that they generally fit fine in any Glock.
Thanks to your videos, i just got my G27 last week. Love it. Its my new CC weapon! (much more comfortable than my 17) Thanks for all your work on the You Tube videos!!
G27 my daily companion thanx for introducing me to it to me. i have a 30sf and a 21sf as well but this little guy is just so easy to carry.
Me and my wife love your videos. Your enthusiam is awesome. You can tell you really enjoy your firearms.lol I just got a 27 and am waiting on a 26 now. God bless at such trying times.
Love my Gen 4 G27. Hands down my favorite pistol ever.
Thank you Sir for this vid it's exactly what I was looking for.
this was the first handgun i ever bought. I love the glock 27! nice video by the way!!
@gilgsn ,
I don't want to take chances with aftermarket parts. The stock guide rod works just fine for me.
I'll be putting an XD or two through their paces this spring. I don't have a Ransom Rest, so I won't be able to do any accuracy comparisons. I will get some impressions, though, I suppose.
I got some deck tape and put it on my glock 27 in the same pattern it worked great and it suprized me how much it improved the grip. GREAT VIDEO!
@Pnutt5100 , The Talon grips are especially useful on the small Glocks.
Yes.
You have made very imformative videos. I recently purchased a semi used glock 22 which is my first glock ever. I also have a 24/7 pro, your vids keep me learnig more and more about function, upkeep and modifications. You do us a great service by sharing your knowledge and passion of firearms. Thanku
Yeah, as I say in the video, I'm actually sitting there on the log shooting, and I pulled out my pocket camera in the middle of it and held it with my left hand. Normally, I would not mess with a "hot" gun. You notice, I'm very careful, as always I hope, about the muzzle direction and trigger. I'm actually in the middle of shooting when I grab the camera.
Sorry Hickok, but I don't agree with you when you say Glocks are ugly. I like their no-nonsense styling. To me they have a look that means business. Thanks to Gaston Glock for building the most reliable handgun on the planet!
@sdvten Yes, the G29 and the G30. I have video on them.
.40 is about the only thing I don't load, and you are right, .40 seems easier to find than 9mm in Middle Tennessee. Lately, though, I've not see either at Wal-Mart.
I carry a 27...I put a lone wolf exd ported barrel ...works great shoots like a full size without the bulk
@onalandline , The Glock 30 is actually bigger than a Compact in some ways. It's a good bit thicker and heavier. You need to handle all of them before deciding.
I probably have most of that information out there if you check out my "Technique" vids and my VLogs.
I'll keep your suggestion in mind, though.
Thanks,
Hickok45
Yes
I love my glock 27! Thanks to you and your videos I bought the right gun!
You are perceptive, and accurate. It's the design of the Glock that makes it more inherently reliable than a 1911. The barrel tips up when you pull the slide back; hence, the chamber tips downward. The bullet does not have to make such a pronounced jump to get from the magazine and into the chamber, as it does with the 1911. It's almost a straight shot into the chamber. I believe the Sig does the same thing.
Yeah, "Ugly is as ugly does!" The more one experiences a Glock, the prettier it gets. Something that works so well can't be too ugly! :-)
"You can shoot a .22 if you don't want any recoil, I guess..." (Hickok45) Great quote
Hickok, Like you, I mostly think that stock Glocks are best kept the way the factory has made them. However, recently I obtained a Glock with Truglo Glock Low TFO Sights. These sights are the very best I have ever used. They are bright 3 dot sights in bright light, dim light, and at night. I now have installed them on my other Glocks. I highly recommend these sights. They help to improve sight picture and speed of picking up the target with the sights. Keep up the great educational videos!
fantastick thanks alot for another great one
Im glad I subscribed) I would have missed some great stuff)
yea thanks for the response, i posted that comment before i subscribed and watched most of your vids including glock top models video.
@SgtMcCullin , polymer covered metal.
@seanxvw , Standing and shooting, I can't tell any difference in "accuracy" between any handgun and any other. The all shoot better than we do.
@jlau08 , I think the Jentra is the one I usually end up with. I order one for a Glock 30, I think, once from somebody, and it had this stupid protrusion on it. I think I tossed it in the trash. Duh, as if I'd want something sticking out down there. The flush ones are the only ones I care about.
Got a Glock 27 Gen 4 a couple of months ago...LOVE IT !!!
Nice video, I recently purchased a G27 for ccw. The G27 has a pretty powerful kick to it, but it is a very accurate and reliable gun. I highly recommend it.
I've seen that thing advertised somewhere. Never tried it, though.
Yeah, there's always a Golden Retriever within arms reach, it seems.
@40Spec ,
Don't know about the Glock website, but they've been referred to as Baby Glocks for almost two decades by most I know.
@theunneter , What's the item number? Did you buy one?
My favorite Handgun!
Tough decision. I'd probably go with the G26. The 9mm is really sweet and plenty adequate. Easy 10-rd capacity and ammo is everywhere, or at least it will be again, I hope.
@slickzipper , How about blessing us with an upload and showing us how much better it is than the G27? :-)
I hear your dog in the background
I just bought a Glock 33 and I absolutely love it
Actually, from the closest targets you see out to 70 and 80 yards, I really don't change much, if at all. About the same sight picture for my Glocks.
I appreciate your videos, I have had a Glock 23 for 3 years and I love it. I am going to buy a Glock 27 next.
Since 2002 I have owned several Glocks; Glock 26, Glock 19, Glock 17, Glock 36, Glock 30 and 30SF and the Glock 21 and 21sf. The 23 has been my favorite all around pistol.
SwiftSilentDeadlyZ7 😳👍
Another great video Hickok , I got with the G26 myself and the grip tape really does help.
Note to others: I myself don't mind it but using grip tape of your carry firearm can rub your skin and some people don't like it. ( Some types of holsters will help cause this problem for some )
The benefit of having a "snappy" gun is that you drop the intended target, so a 27, even with its short barrel, is a great defensive pistol. Good close-up by the way!
Holy hell, Hickok45 has massive hands.
Thank you for showing a close up on the grip-tape that you put on your pistols. I have a Glock 32 (357sig) which has a lot of "pop" to it. I found when I'm shooting it and my hand begins to sweat, I've really notices that I start concentrating on my grip and not my sight-picture and alignment. I just "stole" your idea and wrapped, in a similar way, my G32. Depending how I shoot it, i might do the same thing to my G21. Thanks again and keep up the good work! Semper Fi.
Check out my Glock Top MOdels video.
One reason I like Glocks is the consistent trigger pull. I don't really consider it "double action." I don't really like true "double action" only pistols.
I have no problem with night sights as long as I don't sacrifice sight visibility in daylight.
these things are fierce
@saikouxs100 ,
Am I bleeding?
love my glock 27 and enjoy watching all your videos on glocks.
Yes, I think there's a company that makes them.
40 cal always been my favorite if they think snappy should shoot shield 40
Ok thinking about g27 for concealed carry. I read the forums on the 40 kaboom and it causes me to pause. I would love to know hickok45's thoughts. I think I would trust his opinion above all others. I can't stop watching his videos. Dramatic improvements at the range thanks to him.
Hickok, I believe I have watched all of your videos and envy your marksmanship. Would you consider doing a video on how your setup for your shots (grip, stance, alignment, etc...) and what you look for specifically when your sighting in your close range targets versus your longer range targets? Do you close one eye when you shoot, or leave both open?
Do you have any tricks or tips you can share to improve your accuracy?
my god hickok! your hands are huge!
My absolute favorite, G27
I got the last one at Academy in Austin, but they have been keeping good supply. Ammo is hard to come by, except for one Walmart 60 miles away. Love the gun, easy to shoot, operate, and accurate. Love my old WWI 1911, but I like to carry this one better.
Even with a real gun and live ammo, you still make your own sound effects :-D
A buddy of mine makes a grip for his glock by cutting a piece of new bicycle rubber tire tube to fit. It seems to work well ,was inexpensive and lasts a long time. I really like the glock 27.
thank you
I've seen every G27 vid on CZcams and read most of its reviews and am convinced on getting one. I've never shot one but I have handled them before, they are extraordinarily small! I must shoot one before I make a purchase. I also prefer the OD frame, it's more attractive in my opinion. Hickock45 says "they're ugly" but I think they are beautiful with all due respect. I marvel at why he doesn't have the Glock 39 .45 gap
I talked to a deputy yesterday and he had a Glock 27 for his Open Carry (only to be open when he is wearing Sheriff Apparel)
He had a Magazine grip on his mags. Sweet Gun!
@GracieBarra4Life , I have an FAQ on that. Only LEO work was as a reserve deputy for 10 years in my county.
the speed loader slightly helps with the last round
found my next gun, looks perfect for EDC
I just traded in my Glock 30SF for a Glock 27 (well, sold the G30 & mags on consignment and then spent that money +$100 for the new G27).
Hickok, you've got them big Bill Jordan catchers mitt hands if you like those .45 Glocks.
Plus, I love the idea of being able to feed the G27 9mm or 357Sig with just a barrel change. That's an exciting option, esp when considering Survival or TEOTWAWKI scenarios.
If you are referring to the barrel when it is locked open, no. Several modern handguns angle the barrel upwards when they slide is back to facilitate more reliable loading from the magazine. As the slide goes forward, a round is pushed up the feed ramp and seated into the barrel and the barrel returns to its normal position.
Mr Hickok I know ur a Glock guy which do u prefer better? G30 or G27? Thank you
I'm pretty sure his "intrusion" days would be over. :-)
Good info ...Wa.State
Thanks hickok45, I was interested in the placing of the tape. I am interested in you grip with both hands. I'm pulling to the left and low. Not sure if Grip or trigger finger but I just keep practicing. Tape might help in side to side movement.
The G27 is an incredible CCW piece of kit. I'd still most guys would prefer to equip this with a Pearce grip extension. It's like night follows day having just that one modification over stock mags.
im gonna buy one of these as my conceal carry for around town and my backup woods gun. what type of ammo would you recommend?
There are also RAT grips that are polymer based, and are melted to mold to the shooters hand.
most semi auto pistols do that when you lock or move the slide back like that. The barrel is just in an unseated position. Once the slide is released, the barrel goes back into firing (straight) position.
Another great video, I have a Taurus 9mm right now, but am thinking of upgrading to the Glock 27, I love its sub-compact look and feel great for concealing. How has your luck been in finding .40 cal ammo out where you are? I've actually run into a lot more .40 than 9mm at this point.
@shawnleezam7 Yes it is. The chamber end of the barrel drops down to allow for a better feed angle for the bullet. Most newer pistols do this to prevent misfeeds. Looks goofy but is completely normal.
I love old ppl who kno about guns
hickok45 would you ever do a Taurus pt145pro review? Theres alot of dislikes but just as well theres alot of likes with this pistol. Would be very curious to see what you think and feel about this little powerhouse.
Thanks,
Scott
Haha, you can hear his dog, Gunner, panting during the video :-)
Not easy to quantify. I'd recommend anybody try to rent them both at a shooting range somewhere before purchasing the G27. The G27 does have more recoil, but it's nothing that hurts or anything.
Man I love baby Glocks especially with extended mags
@yoda12589 ,
Same exact size.
