Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.
I love searching for a specific model of firearm and seeing there is a hickok45 video on it.
Still true today in corona2020
Hahaha those are the ones I always end up buying
I agree

I actually traded my G26 for the G36. Simply because the G36 fit me like a glove. My G26 was just too small and the G19 was just too big. The G43 & G42 is the same as the G36; just in different calibers. Its a Glock period. Just need to figure which one fits you.
@rupert93r, Yes, I've read almost all of it. Stock triggers are usually fine for me. If it's a competition gun or something, I have not trouble modifying a trigger.
I like my G36. Not as heavy as my G23 or G19. I like a lighter gun.
@modestmoose83, Not many. I don't buy junk to show and tell about. I definitely have my preferences.
I always forget to turn my sound down on my speakers before I watch your videos the shooting of the steel wakes up my wife every time .... priceless lol
@Bulwark1911, That and weight are my two biggest concerns for carry.
My first and only Glock (so far) is the 36. Selected it for overall size and the slim frame. I'm not a fan of .40SW
9mm is not bad
RainmanE350 the 40SW is dead. It was developed to meet FBI and other Federal Plainclothes Law enforcement. I'm sure everyone knows the story. Well time passed powders are better, 9mm bullets are better so the 40 terminal ballistics are not that far ahead. Yes I know they can be. However the big issue with the 40SW is it's too big in a double stack. On personal knowledge I know how many Sigs in 40SW were put back in the regional office gun safes after agents found the gun to be too large to hold on to. These agents were mainly female agents, smaller frame males. And due to the absolute necessity to have cross individual magazine swap capability, everyone carries the same thing. This grip issue get worse shooting with gloves on, support side swap and or distressed shooter and odd shooting positioè
@mvallin , See FAQ videos.
@supercivician, It expired. We'd like to get a long-term sort of deal with an ammo company or distributor. If not, that's fine, but the random things are hard to keep up with. This video is a good example of that.
@ImtheDesertFox, See the FAQ video playlist.
The G36 single stack grip feels great in the hand ( for me ) it just feels better in the hand than a 19/27 frame.
Get it stippled. Amazing
10 years old
@@yasoghb1905 😂😂😂😂 he prolly still got the same yt,but this comment was for anyone that read it and wanted to know how to make your 36 more comfty
I own a Glock36 and life is good.
Myself and three of my co-workers all own the Glock36. We all enjoy the hell out of them. I couldn't believe how good it feels in my hands or how well I shoot with it.
Where could I get a extended magazine
@@Otskel You can't buy extended magazines for a Glock 36. You can only buy a Pearce +1 magazine grip extension. So it makes it now a 7 round magazine instead of a 6 round magazine. It also extends the grip.
Trevor Gomez dam I was just about to buy one tmr but now I’m not .
Same
I love my G36. I was hitting 6 inch plates at 15 yards right out of the box, off hand. Consistantly 6/6. Plus for me it's a great CCW inside the waistband in winter. I have a Taurus 709 for summer pocket carry.
@h455566hh, Can't tell you; I'm still waiting for a check from Glock for the last three years. They barely know I exist. :-)
Hey I plan on buying Glock 36 what ammo would you recommend? Federal?
I love my Glock 36. It is thin, reliable, light weight and I shoot it better than a 9 or 40. Just carry and extra mag if capacity is an issue. This model is overlooked and under rated IMO.
I own a Glock 36 and love it. Why?
1. I own a 19 and 27 and wanted a .45
2. I love the slim frame compared to other Glocks in .45
3. I got one used for a really good price ($380+Tax)
The capacity doesn't bother me (most 1911's are only 7 or 8+1 and aren't as concealable as the 36 *shrug*)
FOR ME, it was the right choice.
Y u telling ur whole life story
hahaha
Hope you switched to the shield .45 by now
Agreed.
It's my dream to move to America and own a collection of guns!
I know it’s eight years later since you posted this comment but I hope you have made it to our great country and you have started your dream collection if not I will definitely be praying that you were on your way 💯🇺🇸👍🏻🙏🏻
🤘🏻
Well? How did it go?
@sibirty, Depends on it's size and shape, etc.
I carry a 5-shot 357 snubbie in a anti-gun state where we have a 10-rd mag limit, so capacity is not a issue
Not alot of comments about the ricochet bottle-shot at :30 off the swinging steel target
I didn't even see that lol
Seen that right away. Some say 2 liters are so afraid of Hickok45 that they off themselves.
Hickok, I like your channel, but on this one, I can't agree with you. I carry the 36 daily (concealed), and I just love how thin it is (much thinner in the receiver than any other Glock).
theinsolentlynx I carry my G36 everyday. I have a conceal holster for my G19 as well. The difference in the two is huge. E en though they have the same footprint, the G36 has just been a more comfortable carry.
Johns camera skills match Gregs knowledge and explanations perfectly, you guys should be on TV.
also good for states that you cant carry high capacity mags...
Keep on rocking Hickok
Really
fo' real
The Glock 30S has essentially made this gun obsolete. Unless the minor difference in frame thickness really bothers you, the 4 extra rounds and the ability to use Glock 21 magazines makes the 30S a far more versatile gun. You can also use the 9 round flush magazines for added concealability. And you get a rail.
@CaribouLou45, I see an itty bitty amount of difference, but not enough to make any real difference for me.
@akompsupport, Is that what you're doing? Isn't it a bit of a pain to do with each video?
I really love this common sense review for these guns. Finally someone who sees things through pure eyes and isn't blinded by personal bias. EXCELLENT.
Chose the G36 not only for it's slimmer, slightly shorter grip and 1/4 LB less loaded weight than the G23, but mostly for it's large-diameter hole making capability. Hollow-point cavities have a pretty high likelihood of clogging when passing through heavy jackets and layered clothing commonly worn up here during winter months.
Not 100% sure whether or not my choice was the best one possible for my situation but I have to say that the selection process you described here follows solid logic.
This is a great video. I totally agree with all the reasons a 23 or 19 might be better. But I carry a 36. I guess its a "niche" gun. I wholly understand that the 40 and even the 9 are great calibers, even compared to the .45. At least nowadays with the newer ammo. I'd probably say the .45 still has an edge, but not by much. Certainly not enough to be willing to cut the amount of rounds you carry by 1/2. So why do I carry a 36? Because I love the how thin it is in my hand and allows me a more proper grip while reaching the trigger. But mostly, its because I get this "warm, fuzzy" feeling that other cartridges dont give me. I'm old school I guess. I know it makes no practical sense, but the firearm you carry ought to make you feel secure. Of course, I carry a spare mag in a Snagmag. So thats my EDC. Not to be confused with a duty gun.
I am a novice, I have both the 36 and the 23. For me, carrying all day, the slenderness and weight of the 36 is almost the difference in carrying your gun and not wanting to carry a gun. I also like the way the 45 feels when you shoot, not as hyper, it has a push not a snap so to say. Compared to the 27, 7 rounds vs. 10 not a big deal, I will carry my 23 if I know I am going to a not so good area. I can also carry my +1 mag and get 8 but the weight difference is huge compared to the 23.
i know its been 5 years but why have both .40 and .45?
Glock 36 is becoming very collectible, glad I own one, and really all you need is one bullet
A man was shot 44 times by police and lived. Sometimes one shot is not enough to make stupid die.
Ammo is cheap, life is expensive. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice.
Two to the chest, one to the head. Shoot until there is no longer a threat.
I love my Glock 36. It is exactly what the Glock site says: The thinnest Glock ever made. It fits my hand perfect and the Pearce plus zero extension adds the finger groove for my pinky. And you can't beat 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP.
@jbsegrest, You must be new. It appears you have a lot of homework to do in catching up with all the videos. :-)
When carrying a gun, be it concealed carry or open, you need to consider whats the right tool for the day/job ahead. I own the Glock 21, 30, & 36 - all 45's. I carry the 30 (11rnds) almost everyday along with a spare 10 rnd mag. great for concealed carry. The 30 also accepts the 21 full size mags. The 36 is perfect for those dressy concealed carry occasions. It's also light enough for extended shoulder holster carry. The 21 is a superb tac/duty/range gun. SINGLE STREAM AMMO, MULTI CARRY OPTIONS.
You sure shot the fire out of that 36 for sure, Great shooting
Glock 36,cause i have small hands and concealment
Gilbert Sanchez Jann
Thanks for the video. I was torn between the 23 and the 36. Went with the 23 because of your great video! Thanks!
Great vid....i went with the 36 myself...only thing I hate is when people judge by the mag size lol....i carry for that hopefully never happens self defense purpose....thats AWESOME if there glock holds 17rds, there problem is I just need ONE in the chamber.
Slimmer grip than the Glock 19. Like the way the 36 feels in my hand. No sense carrying a gun that doesn't feel right, regardless of its other qualities, in my opinion.
Unless it carries a hell of a lot ammo and you can shoot it just as well
Like the model 36, bought due to how thin it is considering the caliber.
Me too. It's a every day carry. Nice and slim. My old carry was the 1911,but I wish they made a single stack 13 round extended mag for a back up.
you are really professional , keep on the good work !
@cquickstad, You must have missed the first G36 video. Not much to compare, though; the Glock 30 is a totally different piece of hardware: larger, thicker, heavier, and higher capacity.
The only think I don't like about the 36 is the big block on the bottom of the magazine. I'm still buying one.
I shot a Glock 36 when I was 12 , it was the first gun I shot maybe At that I should've picked a 9mm to shoot because it felt like my teeth were chattering but I loved that gun...
thanks hickok45 for many glock videos. your one of the guys from youtube who influences me to buy my first glock pistol. I bought a glock 17 and im planning to buy another glock soon. maybe a 23 or 27. :-)
Clocks just look amazing
If capacity is an issue with the 36 and on a budget can always get a glock 30sf lower and throw the narrow 36 upper on it. Now have double stacks and more mag options
My brother has the G36, I have the G30 10rds, I have longer fingers and a really nice little finger rest couldn't be more satisfied. Hickok is saying the model 36 is a little small for his hand, and he likes the capacity of the 23, he actually describing the Glock Model 30 10rds double stack .45
Bought a 36 recently. Came to check out the video and I’m not disappointed! My first Glock by the way, I always trash glock but at the end of the day I know they’re very reliable firearms.
Isaac Silva I used to hate Glock (funky trigger) till I bought one and learned it. Love em now!
" I could live with that..." When Hickok45 says that about a gun it means it is a keeper.
First time out with the 36, love the gun only issue is the 6+1, fires the first round kicks out the second and cambers the 3rd, scared the crap out of me because i was the only one in the indoor range and the round hit me on the head, tryed twice same thing, 6 rounds of .45 is enough for me. Great channel thanks for all your HARD work.
Yeah I noticed it shoots shells at my face
Very interesting video. I have a Glock 36 largely because I do have small hands and the thin felt good. I carry a 27 far more but I do like the 36. Oddly enough I compared it more to the 1911 in 45 acp more than to the 40's. I have two 1911's for range work, history, and just fun shooting at paper targets. But I would probably be more comfortable carrying a Glock. If I needed thin, wanted a 45 and it was hot weather the 36 works for me.
The g36 isn’t spectacular at all but it’s a small, slim, accurate, and reliable carry gun. I’ve had mine for a decade or so and it’s always just run reliably. I’ll always keep it. It’s not a 20+1 mega capacity blaster but it can get the job done. Get one if you haven’t. It’s a nail driver.
My Glock 36 came with 2 flush magazines and a grip extender.
Very informative. Great points RE" .40 vs .45. Thank you for posting this!
@TheOverfiendDj, You're not a college student getting ready for a party with two kegs of beer are you? :-)
Love your reviews Hickok 45. There’s one thing you didn’t mention one good reason to buy a 36, I used to live on the other side of the iron curtain in California just so happened I lived in a good county & I was able to get a CCW. I carried for many years there, and when you’re limited to 10 rounds the 36 fits very good under your belt and if you don’t have a Lotta rounds you want something that has energy and makes a big hole, 45ACP is the ticket. The other gun I carried was a stub nose 357 Smith and Wesson. Which I would carry in the winter with heavier clothing on my belt under a jacket, when the weather was warm that 36 with my crossbreed holster wasn’t even noticeable. I moved to the great state of Idaho several years ago Almost everybody carries a gun here Low crime friendly people. And my 23 fits in that same crossbreed holster.
The Glock 36 is my primary concealed carry pistol. Size & capacity are similar to Officer's model 1911 but has reliability of a Glock. The thinner grip is a huge plus for me. The loaded weight is virtually the same as a Glock 26. I was limited (by regulation) to 9mm for most of my 32 year law enforcement career. Once I retired I decided to go with the Glock 36 .45 ACP. I already owned 1st generation Sig P239 SAS .40, which I'm converting to .357sig BTW, I recommend a Glock 19 for most shooters
I liked the faster pace of shooting you had in this video and a good review as usual.
@keltingr, yeah, more than likely it was struck with fragments of the copper jacketing - I find pieces of it all the time around the metal targets at the local range. You can see the circular pattern it leaves in the wooden supports, and the ground, from the thousands of rounds that have hit it.
My EDC is the Glock 30S. In my humble opinion it’s the perfect Glock compact .45, thin slide with 10 rounds .
When I got my 36, I got it cause fully loaded it was the lightest 45 I could find and shoot accurately. If I had to do over I would have gotten a 19 and a 26.
Hickok, I agree with your assessment however, in the past I have always had huge difficulty with .40 caliber accuracy and I gave up on it a few yrs ago. I am very good with 9mm and .45 but really thinking of going with the 27 over the 26 but fearful of accuracy issue "even though average self defense scenario is 6-7'. Are there any recommendations you can share with me to help shoot a .40 more accurate. Keep in mind I do have smaller hands and not hear what you have LOL. I usually shoot my 1911's with thin grips. Thanks...Jimmy:)
The 27 really isn't that bad like most 40s .I bought mine a few months ago. And yes you can tell it's a 40 but with practice I'm sure you'll get better .. tons of videos on how to shoot better or reduce recoil but just take it out and practice.
Great insight. Love the conversation. Glock single stacks are interesting. 36 and 43
Hickock45 I just bought a Glock 19 in part because of your videos ;)
I would go G30. That is just because I don't like .40 the pressure is crazy high, and I always get either a 9mm or a .45 ACP.
Only Hickok can shoot a Glock while wearing a Ruger hat ;)
Actually Hickok, certain special forces groups are still to this day given the option to carry a 1911. So Americans are still "going to war" with a 1911. Just an FYI. Another great video by the way.
The reason is WIDTH Hickok, width and .45 caliber.
Width is a huge consideration when carrying CCW, or IWB.
One thing I do love about living in az, walked into a gun shop yesterday, walked out with one of those and 2 boxes of ammo in less than 5 mins :-D
I got the G36 to open carry while camping and fishing. You never know when something is going to pop out in Florida that needs a bigger caliber to take it down.
Glock 36 is perfect for the peoples republic of New York. We can only have seven in our magazines. I love my glock 19 but with the new laws, its either a 7+1 9mm or a 6+1 .45acp. I miss carrying my 19 and 26 but its pointless to have a half full glock
Damn that sucks
Don't forget, the Glock 23 can be converted with a barrel change to 357 SIG; giving you penetration and knock down.
"These are just my opinions, if you don't like them I have others."
A hickok45 video, the breakfast of heroes
Hicock, you make all guns look compact with ur huge hands bro.
just got a Glock 37 gen 4.. shoots like a dream and packs a good punch. Im def a glock fan now
I love my Glock 23. If I need more stopping power I use my Benelli M2
Some states don't allow for mag cap > 10. Point for the G36. I live in a state where there is no capacity limit but spend significant time in a neighboring state that has mag cap limits. So G36 for me subs out some higher capacity 9's I have that are similarly sized. I figure if you have to go with 10 rounds may as well compensate with greater punch
Maybe tell the caliber of the gun at the beginning. And realize the effect of single stack vs double stack on grip width/size. I guessing with your big hands you like the double stack pistols.
I really hate people that come to youtube and say negative things on other pages why would he be too old and who put an age limit on anything I was always told if you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all. hickok45 is great!!!!
Great comparison sir! I appreciate the G36. It is what it is. Still I run a G26 & get 11+1 in my carry gun. If I were looking for a .45acp I would consider those S&W scandium 1911 Commanders. 8+1 & still pretty light weight. A good holster for would make it easy enough to carry. Thanks for the video!
Hey Hickok, finally purchased my first Glock yesterday. I went with the 23 and feel pretty good with the cartridge. Question for you though, it says it holds 13 but im having a problem getting the 13th in there. Is this common? Do I need to break in the mags? Been a viewer for sometime and hope you keep doing what you're doing, because its great.
From the way I look at it the G36 is the closest thing we will ever get to a 1911.
with modern ammo it really doesnt matter what you decide to carry, the most important thing is how fast and accurately you can put rounds on target.
Good point on caliber choice. If you look at some of the studies that have been done the real world results they say that once you get into 9mm land and above there isn't much of a difference between calibers. Its more important that you be shooting something you can shoot well, be that a .45 or whatever. Remember its not the shooting that counts - its the hitting. Without that part of the equation you may as well keep it in the holster.
Before I escaped NY, they had a 7 round limit as part of the so call SAFE act. That has since been thrown out, so people there have the "freedom" to carry 10 rounds. Anyway, until I moved out of state, the G36 was my carry gun. Now it's my 23 with 13 round mags.
I too moved from NY after the safe act. I carried the G36 then now it's a G19
BlueStateRefugee im trying top escape from California guys..my wife wants too stay, so if i have too choose between her or my SCAR then its gonna be the SCAR.
hahahaha
Do you get a good sight picture on the baby glock? That front sight goes really far back on the slide
Does Glock make a G36 gen 4? I can't seem to find one anywhere.
Idk why I like it so much, something about a small package .45 Glock delivering bowling balls down range, I’m a skinny guy do it conceals nicely for me, yeah 6+1 ain’t the best thing out there but if we’re comparing to the 43 that a lot of people carry, I’d much rather have a 36, and idk I guess because it’s so unique too that it just makes a cool gun to own
I would choose the 23 also.
Loved the video. Just a thought, can you get a hold of a Glock 42 (.380)?
i shot a 23 last weekend and i honestly didnt understand why everyone was so hyped up on glock, now i really like them too. they are smooth and accurate and they just generally have a good feel ( in my hand anyway ) shooting one changed my opinion on them.
I have a glock 22 and it shoots like a dream!
my .45 preference to .40 is not the size of the bullet but rather the muzzle flip. I find .40 cal to have a snappy flip up kick while the .45 has a controllable kick that goes back rather than up to where returning with a follow up shot is more manageable
more people on youtube need to make videos as good and descriptive as hickok45 does
@GetMeThere1 : And it's also true that, at nearly 4 inches, the Glock has about TWICE the barrel length as a 2" snubbie--that difference would show in velocity.
@JBjeter17 Not very likely. It could be if the round is underpowered...but it needs to be in the goldylocks zone to push the slide back but not lock the slide back..
@nevertoooldtohavefun : Perhaps a more useful way to put it is that 45 ACP has NEVER been chosen by shooters as an "inadequate substitute" for the 357 mag. It is considered by virtually everyone to be a "major" defensive handgun cartridge. Your original post implied that choosing 6 shots of 357 is FAR superior to 7 shots of 45 ACP. Very few experienced shooters would agree with you--many of them would CHOOSE the 45 over the 357, especially with an additional round into the bargain. More.
