  • This is a tabletop review of the GLOCK 27 SUBCOMPACT .40 S&W. In this video we will discuss the history and development of the firearm, and provide side by side comparison with other popular models to establish scale and help visualize what it would be like carry this based on familiar platforms. We will outline all of the features, and how these features may or may not be important to you based on your personal needs. Range performance will also be discussed along with different tested methods of carry and how comfortable it is to carry on a regular basis. Last, we will provide an overall opinion of how this firearm stacks up for concealed carry purposes. Thanks for watching!

    In my opinion the .40 S&W is an excellent caliber and it's my first choice/go to since 1994. I carry the .40 most often as my EDC. I have nothing against 9mm and own a few, but I refuse to ride the popularity train to fit in.

    I love my G27. It carries well and provides more punch than my 9mm Sig P365. I bought a conversion barrel for both my G27 and G23 some time back so that I could shoot 9mm as a cheaper ammo that's even more pleasant at the range. At some point I'll also purchase a 357 Sig barrels for each because I enjoy shooting that caliber too. There are also 22LR conversions that can be had and eventually I'll acquire one of those as well for inexpensive training and plinking.
    I live in WI, so winter is very cold. Cold means more layers of clothing and this means assuring bullet performance through these layers becomes very important. The G27 is a great winter carry gun in cold climates. When it warms up the Sig P365 gets carried more often and when it gets really hot a Ruger LCPII carries very well. I also have even smaller handguns when needed.
    In summery the G27 is a versatile pistol that carries like a somewhat larger pocket pistol and for me shoots like a midsize gun. It's accurate, hard hitting and can be converted from 40 to 357 Sig, 9mm and 22LR.

    When I got my CCW in California around 2012, there was a huge shortage of sub-compacts. The Glock 27 was the only one I could find in stock, so I held my nose and bought it. After shooting it and qualifying with it, I started to fall in love with it. Over the years and owning other carry weapons, I keep going back to my first love. People who don't like Glocks are usually those who haven't owned one. Thanks for a great video.

    Excellent presentation- totally reinforces everything I love about the 27. I carry mine every day in a Tulster IWB, shoot it every range session, and love the fact that it shoots just as accurate as it's full size counterpart, the Glock model 22. I have no problem with the 40 cal in this gun whatsoever. The recoil is a moot point when considering you have a very effective round. The 9mm is alright, but you have to have +P ammunition to equate the 40's effectiveness, and then the recoil becomes a non issue. Most practice with regular 115 or 124gr 9mm, and carry +P. The 40cal has the same recoil regardless of ball/ training ammo and the more expensive carry rounds, so the training aspects are way more consistent.

    • @kentwilliams4152
      @kentwilliams4152 Před rokem +1

      I have to disagree in regards to the recoil comparison between the 9mm and the .40 S&W. I carried a .38 and then 357 issue weapon in the U.S. Border Patrol 26 years and then a Beretta 96D brigadier .40 S&W for 6 years. Our issue round was a 155 grain JHP which quite out performed the 180 grain versions by a good margin. My experience is that if one compares the same weight weapon with one being 9mm and the other a .40 S&W the felt recoil difference will be quite noticeable, especially if defensive ammunition is used in both handguns. FWIW

    @radiohobbyist13 Před 2 měsíci +1

    I had one years ago but I had to get rid of it because of the "Glock pinch." The Glock pinch occurs when the shockwave produced by firing the gun causes the magazine to seize up, pinching your hand between the bottom of the grip frame and the magazine's base plate. I'm sure that this would be even worse with the G27 since it's even more powerful. But really, I think this problem is largely dependent on your hand size and whether or not you have meaty or thinner hands. Me? I have thinner hands and wear a large glove size. It's too bad that they can't make the G27 in the same configuration as the G43X. But because the 40 S&W is more powerful than the 9mm, they simply can't make it in a 43X size gun. So, if you want something more concealable than the G23 in 40 caliber, your only option is the G27. But you won't know if the G27 is going to pinch your hand until you actually fire one. 🤷❓️

A magazine with the pinky extention helps quite a bit in getting a better grip on this gun. And, you can always purchase just a 9mm barrel and magazine if the .40 cal. seems a bit much.

I bought one right around the Olympics here in Atlanta, and I already had the 26 for a while. I could be wrong, but I think I'm right. I have NO DOUBT the comments will let me know if I am wrong. :] I sold my 27 because with good powerful defensive .40 ammo it was not as accurate for me as the 26 with good powerful ammo. I also carry a Glock 19 as my EDC so I liked the cross compatibility. It's weird how easy it is to collect Glocks and just keep filing in the gaps as needed.

    I love my Gen 4 G27. With the conversion barrel to 9mm I have 2 guns. Still hate the hump.

    Like all caliber pistols, have various ones in different calibers , being in the military you can't go wrong with a 45 acp and in law enforcement was the 357 magnum revolvers in the 80s , my favorite revolver cartridges are 357 magnum and the 327 magnum , and also carry it has a back up, for my ✨ EDC gen 3/ 33 357 sig with night sights and Lazer Max internal guide rod Lazer and plus 2 magazine base plates for two extra magazines 11+1 and two 23 extra magazines with a Plus 2 for 15 +1 and sometimes a gen 3/40 s&w, trust larger caliber rounds and pistols, but a 9mm and lower for back up or extra back up, , started shooting 38 special at 5 and 357 magnum at 6 years old, and 45 acp at 9 they are my favorite and most experienced with, but have added the 40 since they mid 80s and the double magnum 😆 327 / 32 revolver in 2014 , and the 10 mm 2018 like that 10mm can also use 40 too 💥💥

    I took my model 27 and made it a 9. Simple barrel swap that I can swap back but had no 9s. The 27 is a beast but for $200 it's a stupid simple swap

    All you need for the 27 is a g23 or 22 mag with the x grip and your good to go with the handle of a g23 or g22 with frame of 27 best set up imo ever

    I just put the Glock 27 gen 5 coyote battle worn flag on layaway. Can’t wait to get it! I have two Glocks, 19 gen 5, 30 gen 4. Once you change the sights I like the lightwave h3 Glocks are amazing firearms. This will be my last Glock after this I’m saving for my Kimber 1911. Great vid.

      Go to TR enabling and get a 357sig conversion barrel for your shield 40 and you will REALLY have a blaster!! Shield 357sig...lighter carry weight...more energy..more penetration...less recoil!!! 👍

    Me too I know everyone hates 40 I stayed away from Glocks because everyone talked about them cops carried them and they felt blocky in hand then I shot my dads 27 it shot better than all my 9mm’s that week I went and bought a Glock 19 and now have 6 different Glocks only one 40 but I still think it’s great especially in a Glock!🤯🔫👍🏼

    I was very fortunate enough to have bought a Glock 17 Gen 5 9mm and also my Glock 22 Gen 5 40 both brand new both at the same time I to this day had them like 3 months and the Glock 17 hasn’t even left the case lol I’m not a bandwagon type person and I also don’t discredit the 9 however I feel much better with the 40 not only that but i shoot it just as good as the 17 in 9mm lol the whole snappy thing is bullshit man up grab the dam gun firmly and shoot as well as train lol the 40 cal round has been tried true and proven design not in “ballistic gel” but bluntly in the streets with an amazing track record i love my Glock 17 but as for me and my family I’ll carry my Glock 22 in 40 💨💨💨💥💥💥😘 lol
