@wogahboy, I spend hours every day answering questions, especially for those who can read. As it says on my profile, you have to send questions as a message if you want an answer. There's a reply button there. If it's clear, concise, and something appropriate for me to answer (rather than Google), you'll often get an answer. It just depends on how many hundred more there are in line.

  • @hickok45

@DarkHorsePSH , I shoot with my left eye, yes, because I get a clearer sight picture. I switched over a few years go. Shooting low-left is fairly common for right handers and usually has nothing to do with how you are using your sights; it's usually related to a bit of trigger jerk or flinch. Try to sand bag rest your gun, as well as get some other people to shoot it. It's very rare for the sights to be off measurably on any new defensive pistols.

@binky987 , Yes, any difference is minor. I'm would not trade any of my other Glocks just to get a Gen 4 gun, no would I reject one because it's a Gen 4 gun. I've not tried the 9mm Gen 4s yet, though.

I have had my Gen4 Glock 23 for a month now and shot 150 rounds through it. Truth be told the round is a little snappy, but not nearly as snappy as the 45 or 10mm i have been used to shooting. Despite the snappiness it's remarkably controllable and fun to shoot! Suffice it to say it's become my new every day carry gun and the gun i plan to take to training courses.

I have the Glock 30 gen3. It is my first and only gun (so far; my want list is extensive;) ). I also want the gen423 for my next gun, for CCW and otherwise. I've shot the 19 and the 23 at the range, and they feel great in my hand, compared to the 30. I have small hands (I'm 5'5") and the 30 is a bit wide which affects trigger reach and becomes marginal for me to be able to grip the way I'd like to. The 19/23 size frame feels excellent OTOH. I also like the .40 cal and the capacity it offers.

Hickok, I appreciate your great reviews and in depth insight on everything you review. Your gen4 g23 review has persuaded me to try a glock. Being military I became accustom to the da/sa but when it comes to personal ccw you have helped immensely, and I will be shortly carrying a 23 off duty and no longer trying to conceal a full size .45 Ruger p90. What do you recommend for a good holster for concealing the 23?

According to some glock armorers and my departments training instructors. The gen 4 has fixes for the slide cracking on the ejector port and some other issues like spring breakage etc. That they had on the older gens.

  • @Toyman07
    @Toyman07 Před 12 lety +1

Got one as well and another great thing about Glocks 40's is that you can just drop in a oem 9mm barrel and buy some 9mm mags and bam you got Glock 19 or Buy a .357 barrel and use the existing .40 mags as their the same size. You can also for around a couple hundred bucks buy a .22 conversion kit. So in other words with the parts you can have 4 guns in one :). I have the same setups for my Sig's as well. I own a p226 and 228 and both are .40 but use either 9mm or .22 for practice etc.

I've owned the Glock 23 Gen 3 and Gen 4. While I loved my Gen 3, I ADORE my Gen 4. The recoil is noticeably smoother and the stippled grip on the Gen 4 makes no modification necessary for me. I had to apply grip tape to my Gen 3 to avoid slippage. Not so with the Gen 4. The optional back-straps are another perk. No more layering tape to fill out the grip to my liking.

    Hey Greg,
    Great review, thanks for positng.
I watched your video on reloading a while ago.
Are you still reloading as much?
I've found it's not really worth it to reload 9 mm. I'm still relaoding .45acp at about half the cost of store purchased ammo.
have you ever considered using different sized gongs for diferent tones?
You could play a song with the tones from the gongs as you shot them... lol

@suckaniggasdick , Yuk, I hate to do that, although I did have a Glock back during the period when they were finishing them in that horrible slick "Teflon" that I actually DID try that. I cut neat little strips of grip tape and stuck it in the serrations. There's something really distasteful to me about doing that, though Thankfully, Glock has gotten away from that thick, slick finish.

Best video intro I've seen. "Whoa, a poet don't know it." Get some, Hickok45!

I bought a used police trade-in but with an extended polished stainless steel Barrell. I think it was at least a whole inch longer and was marked Model 23.
It was odd so I took it if they would throw in 4 extra mags and do it all for $400 even. They did because I was a frequent buyer of guns, ammo, holsters, rifles, shotguns, optics and jewelery. I love G23s and all blocks.

  • @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy

I only noticed a difference in the empty shell case ejection. The 4th Gen seems more random and less often to the right side. They fly straight up sometimes and back over your head sometimes. Kinda weird.

hickok45 definitely less recoil in the Gen 4. That dual action spring is excellent

Hey Hickock45...Great videos I really enjoy them. I however have found some real negatives on the new Gen4 model 23 as well as the other gen4 Glocks. First, the trigger is heavier on the newer model not a huge deal but still different. Second, and the worst thing yet is the trigger bar has a nipple on it. Causing hang ups and making it difficult to reassemble and causes jams. I filed it off solving the issue. Lastly, why don't they go by "If it ain't broke don't fix it... Thanks Great Job...

I really enjoy all your videos. On one of them, you mention you site with your left eye. I am also right handed and look through my sites with my stronger left eye. If I am dead center on my standard Glock 23 Gen 4 sites, I consistently shoot low and to the left. Do you have a standard site setting you use on your Glocks or any other advice you could offer other than aim high to the right to compensate? Thanks in advance.

Now that's how a video should be started! Man, Blast that drum!
Thanks, that was a nice look at the two gen's.

Another very informative video ... and thank you ... it does appear as though the Gen 4 has less mussel flip (recoil), after watching the vid. I have a Glock 19 Gen 4 (9mm), and love the action/feel ... it is VERY comfortable to shoot ... and as of today (with about 75 rounds through it) ... I've had NO FTF's or SP's. Thanks again ... 45!!

I'm suprised that Ginger hung around for all that shooting. Great review hickok. I bought a G19 for my first carry gun, next year I'll upgrade to the G23 gen 4 (I wanted them to work out any issues first). Your glock vidoes helped me decide what gun to carry and Tnoutdoors9 helped me decide what ammo. You two are awesome!!

I recently went to a shooting range to fire 3 different guns to see which one i liked the best, xd, m&p, glock and by far the ugly bad grip angle glock was the best for me. They are doing something wright.
