I’ve watched this video probably 200x over the years and just rewatched it again the other day. I had to go pick up another .40 Glock 23 yesterday because of it. Now I’m back to carrying the .40. Thank you again sir.
I first started watching your videos when I was about 16 years old, when my dad purchased my first gun and I just recently turned 21 and plan on getting a pistol permit. Finally!! I have to say you're the one who has sold me on the Glock 23. I want it to be my first handgun. But what I was trying to say was I was deeply saddened to hear about your account going down twice in the matter of two days and I thought that the second time you were done for sure. I'm beyond thankful that you are back and still kicking because you've honestly taught me so much about firearms. You've taught me about gun culture and the importance of the second amendment. This is my thanks to you hickock, thank you for doing what you do and inspiring me to be a gun owner. Thank you to you and your son John for putting out such quality, educational videos that are not short of humor as well. I owe it to you and could probably thank you a million times more. Take care.

+Mike Russo Thumbs-Up, for your comment on hickok45, he is the top dog in the gun community on youtube. One thing about hickok45 is he tells it like it is with no bullshit thrown in, I've been subscribed to his channel for over 6 years and still am. Good luck to your future in the gun world and have fun but always respect your firearms......
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Another pro-gun New Yorker here
he's also switched back to the 9MM kid. but i haven't. rock on with the G23!
@@stevestringham1095 with the 23 you can do both👍
A nice youngman
Freakin deadly!!! He cleaned up the range and so much for all those saying stock glock sights are trash
Heisenberg Heisenberg ikr 😂 "tactical"
R.J. L. True but I think he could just about shoot with out sights
It amazes me how accurate you are with the standard glock sights that everyone complains about. Goes to show practice practice and practice.
Right. The man is amazing.
Glock sights to me are EZ to use....I like them too
I love my glock factory sights. I wish I would have gotten a glock sooner.
Love this man right here!!!!! Just bought my Glock 23 gen 4 yesterday.
Still like it?
Dylan Patterson i love mine
Dre Emery just bout one love it !
willieLewis318 have you shot it yet
Dre Emery after 3 years?! Hahahaha
Another major plus the Glock 23. Is that this weapon can be converted into three different firearms 9 millimeter 40 caliber and the 357 sig awesome just awesome
drew borg Conversion is only $100 but you do get FTEs. Besides if you get G19 then you can invite a friend to shoot with you as well ;-)
Thanks both of you.
ZFlyingVLover you cant just swap out the barrel and call it good, thats probably why you are getting FTE's, if you are converting down to 9mm you also have to change the spring to the g19 spring.
And the ejector rod too cause the the luger case rim is different than the .40
It is not required to change the spring when you convert the glock 23 to a 9mm barrel according to glock. So, unless you know more than the manufacturer, why mislead people with inaccurate information?
In 4 seconds, you freed up your hands, pulled your pistol, rotated 120 degrees drilled target twice, then continued another ~60 degrees and popped a 2 litter. @ what; 7-10 yards. Oh Yeah, with a snappy (as they say) 40 cal. I kneel to my superior!
@chineseguy15, Yeah, they make at least 3 different models in .45 ACP. I have videos on all three. :-)
just picked up a 23 gen4 today thanks to your videos. i never considered it until i put it in my hand and it felt right. i was leaning toward the 30S but glad i came across your videos just in time.
+JsonSK Same exact story I just picked up a Glock 23 gen4 excited to shoot.
Apple Lysol I own both and you can't go wrong with either.
Love my glock 23 most accurate dependable pistol ive ever owned.
Love my Glock 23 gen. 3. Started with a S&W m&p .40 and couldn't get used to the 13 lb. trigger pull so i upgraded and never looked back! Ordered talon grip online and I'm buying more mags as i can afford to because i know this is my carry pistol for life. Thanks for your influence hickok45
The first 40 sec is why I LOVE Hickock 45 and his vids. Deadly accurate shooting w/ a touch of humor! Go Hickock 45!
LOVE the way Hickok started this video!!!
He is the one who encouraged me to choose the G23 as my service firearm!!!
Thanks for your detailed reviews on glocks, I purchased a glock 23 gen4 last week and I already have 500 rounds through it, it shoots awesome, it was my first time handgun purchase and won't be the last one.
Hickok, you experience things for yourself and you make your own opinions from those experiences instead of going with internet gun group think. You're awesome. Also I just picked this gun up and I'm pumped about it.
Just got my Glock 23 gen 4. My first glock and I love it. The simplicity and functionality is unlike any gun I've used thus far. Thanks for the awesome videos.
owned my gen2 glock 23 for over 20 years now. was my first handgun, my first glock, and still my favorite even though i own many more. great to see you shooting it so well. thx for the great vid man!
You my friend are living the dream. Nice job!!!
I hear that term, "Short & Weak" a lot when guys talk about the .40 S&W and most of the time its guys who love the 9mm, so if they think the .40 S&W is Short & Weak then that would make the 9mm Puny & Frail' or Fatigued & Delicate' or Physically Unable'.....
While I do hear it from all sorts of different caliber fans, the term originated from 10mm fans.
The .40 S&W is literally a shorter and weaker 10mm (10mm is an older cartridge than the .40).
With that said, .380, 9mm, .38 special, .357 magnum, and .357 Sig all use the same bullets (or at least can).
A .380 casing is right around half the length of a .357 magnum's, so there's obviously an incredibly significant difference in the powder load.
I know where the term first originated, I was speaking to those 9mm fans who call the .40 S&W short & weak.
+GunsHarleysUSA Yeah, 9mm and especially .380 fans (though I don't particularly know many of the latter) aren't really in a position to call it "Short & Weak."
The 9 mildly meek
9 meek minimilist
@AgentZeitgeist, Yep, I was fondling a couple last weekend and thinking about that. I have not launched any lead from a good old Colt SAA for awhile, ON or OFF video. We'll have to remedy that this winter/spring, for sure.
I use to be a Correctional Officer! This is the gun we trained with! Out of 7 years of shooting the G23 gen 4 our instructors said each glock had around 250,000 rounds through them each! We were talking afterwards to our instructors and they stated we hardly had any problems at all with them! That made me a glock fanboy! Over a year period I bought 2 of the Glocks 23 gen 4! I edc the 23 and the 19! Now I got the 19X and the Glock 45 9mm! Also got the G19 gen 5 and the Glock 48 all black! Great firearms that are dependable & tough!!!!! Thanks Mr. Hickok45! Good videos!
Yeah, there will always be Glock haters, but people with lots of experience shooting, especially with Glocks, knows the truth. Doesn't mean everybody likes them, but at least you don't see anybody from this group calling them "junk" or Glock carriers something stupid and childish like "fan boys."
people bad mouth the .40... but it's knocking those steel targets around like nothing, meanwhile 9mm barely affects them..
9mm has more penetration than the .40 I shoot hogs with a 9mm and drops them instantly the .40 not so much 🤷♂️
Chalino Sanchez why would the fbi adopt the 40 caliber cartridge then if 9mm had more penetration?
@@ethancool8141 ask yourself your own question a couple of times and see if you don't arrive at the answer.
Hint: Police often have to shoot at suspects with innocent bystanders around...
Branden Imhoff so you’re saying they chose that caliber because it’d be more safe basically for innocent citizens? I understand
@@ethancool8141 I'm saying a bigger, slower moving bullet is better than a smaller, faster moving one when it comes to over penetrating and wounding unintended targets. Add hollow points to that, and you've got a much bigger wound channel with less risk of the bullet going through. Why not a 45 then? Well the 40 is better for follow up shots than the 45.
The reliability of G23 gen4.... No malfunctions at all.
Absolutely LOVE the slow motion at the end! You can see the bullets path to the gong. And you can also hear the tink-tink of the empty shells hitting the ground. NICE!
I bought a Glock 23 gen4 used from a pawn shop, it was a police trade in , glad they got rid of it and I got it, Hickok 45 is right about this gun, it does it all, what a perfect pistol .
@danpetreikis, I feel your pain; I go through the same indecision. It usually comes down to whether I'm going to be sitting a lot, whether it's in the car or elsewhere. The G27 wins there by just a little bit. They are a great pair, just like the G19 and G26. The G27 is great anytime; the G23 is great "just about" anytime.
0:33, remind me to never walk behind you!
Really enjoy your videos. 90% of my shooting is done with reloads, so I've stayed away from Glock pistols. Two weeks ago I purchased my first Glock, a 42. While at my FFL, I looked and handled a 23 Gen 4. It felt a lot better than the earlier models. I had them hold it for me. Picked it up yesterday, brought it home, already ran 2 boxes factory and 1 box of my reloads. No problems with the cases on my reloads. Shot accurately, recoil really light, fast back on target. Thanks for the Great reviews and demonstrations with handguns. They really help when making decisions on possible purchases.
Great as usual, I love my G23 Gen4. I have the Lonewolf 9mm conversion barrel and it's been flawless. God bless.
I love the Glock 23 but I’m just make sure you’re still on CZcams
I got my Glock 23 gen 4 yesterday
Just got mine today a year in the future
@Bleys1973, It's often just the mood I'm in; if I'm feeling good about the gun I'm shooting and confident where to hold, I just keep going. Also, if I have plenty of ammo and magazines loaded up, that makes a difference. I'm usually pretty well equipped when I'm shooting a Glock. Plenty of magazines full of cute little cartridges for the video. :-) Plus, in a Chapter 2 video, it's mostly shooting anyway.
First let me say you are having so much fun and you are very knowledgeable.
I enjoy watching your videos
Thank you so much.
Trying to decide if I should trade in my 19 for this. They say a 19 is easier to shoot, but I believe any caliber can be mastered if you shoot enough. Why not?
Cole Byre If one gun is two are better keep em both I have a 19 35 and 23 love em all BRB....
I personally don't shoot any better or worse switching between 9mm and 40 S&W. I don't really notice the recoil difference.
They say the 19 is easier cause they don’t like shooting anything more powerful than a nine mil
The 23 is a better option in my opinion. The reason is because the 23 has the same exact dimensions as the 19 and you can buy a 9mm barrel to drop in the slide and have a 19
Don’t trade just buy it
Every time I'm like...ehhh, should I trade for something else? I watch this...and it reminds me why I bought it and why it owns every polymer pistol on the planet
Love the video! Loved the start to the video!!!!!!!!!!!
Subscribed as soon as I found you, good to see a person that can stay mostly serious when it comes to guns...I can actually learn a lot from your vids thanks to that.
I am a black man and even I will feel bad when this guy stops teaching us. knowledge has no color thank you for your videos.
Thanks. Your comment, though, is a good example of how any of us can sound a bit racist, even when we have absolutely no intention in that direction. :-)
For example, if I had said the same thing about you, think about how it would sound. "I am a white man, and even I will feel bad when this guy stops teaching us." :-)
Sorry, I just couldn't resist pointing that out, mainly because I grow so, so weary of everybody's obsession with everything being racist, even when it's the last thing on most people's mind.
@@hickok45understood btw thanks for your reply I just want people to know that we could all learn something from eachother.
Okay, but if thousands of guys are wearing that shirt around, wouldn't it imply that I'm quite the "Ladies' Man"! :-)
Do you think the only reason Law enforcement changing to the 9MMs because its cheaper
you know what I love about your videos! You genuinely have fun and look like your having fun when your shooting! And I could tell this Glock 23 was making you even more happy than some of the others! You were shooting it like a Master too! Your Love of it shows haha!
This is why I like his videos so much. He has lots of humor in his pocket. He has never failed to make me laugh. :) Keep it up!
i love how when you shoot the gong you can actually see the slugs connecting with the steel
the sole purpose of your pistol is to get you back to your rifle.
I've always heard that. Lately, I've heard some convincing arguments from "experts," reminding us that it's very unlikely to happen. You'll end up fighting with what you have.
hickok45 yeah gotta play the hand that is dealt occasionally. really enjoy your content kickok. stay safe sir.
+Team Green Illinois People in public places don't have a rifle to fight back to, and it's frowned upon to walk around with one slung over your shoulder. Handguns are what you will have as a civilian. Military/LEO is another story.
And the purpose of your rifle is to get to that cannon and defend it!!!
if your at war in the military. who the fuq edc a rifle???
I didn't really like Glocks that much until I started watching Hickok45, now I love seeing the glocks in action and would love to get another one. Love all of the videos and can't wait to see another Hickok45 video lol
Thanks for the video Mr. Hickok45. I love your videos. You keep showing them how its done. Im new to the comunity but learnning alot.
due to the violent crime rate , it is time for me to arm myself. I work late hours and am on the road late at night with cash and a van full of expensive music gear. Your videos have been very helpful in my research as to what I need to buy. God forbid I ever have to shoot some one, but if I have to, I want to stop them in their tracks. The 40 just seems to have a been more knock down power over the 9mm. I am now shopping for a new gen4 23.
Ppl who cant control recoil hate on the 40 caliber it hits harder than 9mm or 45 could ever dream about
+Albert Einstein 9mm, .40, and .45 have comparable terminal ballistics. The .40 has made the .45 obsolete, with almost identical terminal ballistics and a higher mag capacity.
As for OP, no such thing as a one shot stop. Don't rely on it, don't expect it.
mannys9130 the 45 will never be obsolete. I have a 40 cal glock 23. And I like the 40 cal. But the 45 is a better more versatile round.
Doug Smith Strongly disagree. The .40 is better in every way. Actually, the 10mm is more versatile than both, but the .40 can fit in 9mm frames. The .45 ACP is an inefficient, low pressure round that was only relevant in pre-Nato combat where ball was the only choice.
mannys9130 Right. That's why most freaking SWAT teams carry .45. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Why the U.S. military doesn't use Glocks in a bigger capacity (no pun intended) I have no idea. I know the military sidearm has to have a manual safety yada yada n other specs it has to meet but Glocks just work when ya need them to. Call me a Glock fanboy, I'll wear that title proudly because my G23 goes bang with every squeeze of the ole booger hook haha.
+Craig Todd Choosing a new firearm for the military is no easy feat. It's primarily a political decision as well as a financial decision.
Well, looks like Glock failed because they aren't modular. I love Glock and have 3, but the P320 is great as well and is truly modular. I'd like Glock to make some innovative models. Glock 44 should be a single stack .40 S&W. Glock 45 should be a Glock 30s or 36 chambered for 10mm auto. Perhaps a 19L.
Thank you hickock45 for this awesome video. Watching you hit those targets just brings so much happiness to my life. And I can't agree more, the Glock 23 is one reliable good friend!
your the only guy that i can actually sit here an watch a 20 min video on an not get bord or somethin ha keep it up man!!!!!
picked up my g23 g4 for $525
00:25 when ya wife trying to stop u from going fishing with the boys
@xring1000, The only ammo I've had issues with was about three rounds 9mm 115 grain, and then only stuff that is FMJ and on the low end powerwise to begin with. I have the 04 spring in my G19 Gen 4. The 03 spring was stiffer, from what I've heard. Some people had more problems with that one.
I agree 100%. I have owned a lot of Glocks but the 4th gen G23 is my carry weapon and my favorite.
Back to what you were saying in the beginning about people valuing your opinion; I’ve never bought a gun without watching your review of it before purchasing. I am sure not alone on this, we love you ❤️
Never stop doing the "Oh, hi" intro. Makes me chuckle every time.
I had an FNX40 for a half dozen years and liked its features but it never shot tbe way I thought it should. It always shot too low for me and others who shot it. FN basically blew me off when I called the about it. After watching yours and others videos and doing some more research I recently traded the FNX40 for a Gen 4 Glock 23 and after taking it to the range I am very pleased with my decision. It performs exactly as you said and was accurate right out of the box. I'm left handed and switched the magazine release to the opposite side without a problem. Probably my 70 year old eyes but I hit pretty consistently a bit to the right so I'm going to drift the rear sight a fraction to the left and I should be close to dead on for me. Thanks for your entertaining and informative videos.
Boy i got excited as all hell when i seen that there was a new hickok GLOCK video, and you owned that friggin thing!
Your abilities with a pistol never cease to amaze or amuse
Absolutely, the best videos.
Your the reason why I bought my Gen4 23. Another awesome videos!
Only 10mm fans call the 40 S&W "short & weak". Shoot the 40 cal a few times and see the power that that little round has behind it. Love the bid Hickok45! Keep up the good work.
@shkotay, I don't know; I've used a dozen or more of them for lots of fun and lots of games (IDPA, GSSF, IPSC, etc.) for over 20 years. They definitely are not as pretty as my 1911s, Smiths, & Colt SAAs, though.
Almost 20 years ago I got my first gun....a Gen 2 Glock 23, I still have it and it is still one of my favorites.
wen youre shooting the gong i can actually see the bullet travel and splatter. sweet......keep it up man i can tell you just love shooting. watch the vids and dont even pay attention to the gun or its sounds, focus on yourself. so happy hahaha i love it
0:25 he had that "oh I though somebody tried to steal my gong" moment lmao 😂 😂😂
A few months ago, I decided to put my Glock 23 back up in storage and switch to carrying my Glock 27, because I saw a video of Hickok talking about it. Now I see this video and I want to switch back to the 23. Hickok's giving me whiplash....
@ADFilmSA , Not that much difference between what a .40 will do and a .45. For that matter, not that much difference amongst any of them, but you get good capacity in a reasonably sized platform with the .40, so it's a "Why Not?" for me.
Never a dull day in the range with Hickok45 👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks to your videos I just bought a G23 and I'm very happy with it! Thanks and keep making awesome videos!
Nothin better than a H45 Glock video! Love the slo-mo at the end.
I just love to watch you shoot. Just picked my first G23. Looking forward to getting to know it. Thanks for your videos.
Love the slow motion hits!!!
Thank you for another great video made my day my favorite also the good ole G23
0:25...really funny, Hickok! I really like your reviews. I carry a G22 on the job and own a G23-it fits my hands like no other gun.
@arriscado75, Nope, Glocks are a bit like a hammer, wrench, or shovel. They are just extremely functional.
Agreed. I carried the G23 on duty when I was LEO and when I was working security. Carried the G27 off duty and still carry that as EDC
I just sat here and watched that whole 17 min video, I think I'm in love with the Glock 23 too
@skilledshooter86, Yes, I'm on the list, they tell me, as soon as it's available.
You sir, are on fire! Love all your videos! Keep on keepin on!
Just got my first glock 23 gen 4. Love your videos.
My good friend and guitar technician(Someone I've always respected His knowledge for Glock's and 1911's)just grabbed a G4 23. He loved it!! I can't wait to give it a try. He likes it as much as you like yours, Hickok. Great video.
Nice! i'm glad you made another video on the 23 cause i think its the one i'll get on my 21'st
You're videos helped me to decide on the glock 23 for my carry gun. I love my 23!
Thanks for taking the time to shoot(pun intended), edit and post the videos. I appreciate it. I picked up a Model 23 yesterday at my local shop. Had the opportunity to fire one over the weekend and out of all the models I tried, this was the one that I liked the best (the sub-compacts were just too short in the grip)
This guy has the greatest videos on all type of guns and ammo
Awesome as usual! You always deliver an outstanding non biased (except for Glock) video. I own and carry Ruger SR9c/LC9 but am seriously considering Glock 23/19 for daily Carry. I just have to thank you for being such a great marksman!! I really admire your talents.
My son and I really love your vids man. Keep up the good work. He asks every day if you have put up a new vid. He loves your vids and wants to be just like you. At 9 yrs old you are inspiring him. Imho you are a good man, just wanted to say keep up the awesome work.
This video (as well as many people I've met) convinced me to buy this exact gun. Absolutely love mine and came with night sights on it when I bought it! :)
Bought my Glock 23 gen 4 today! Thanks !
Bought a Gen4 glock 19 a few weeks ago.
Gen 4 Glock 23 is next on my list in the next month or so for sure. Great video.
i have a glock 23 gen 4 with trijicon night sights and crimson trace laser grips and i freaking love it and hickok45 is the reason why i got it thank you hickok45 i carry my glock 100% inside the waist band in a galco king tuck and forget its even there
Great video! I love the intro. I really like the .40 cal round (I have an XD40) and I love my Glock 19. I think you just talked me into making the G23 Gen 4 my next pistol purchase!
This dude rocks he should’ve been my old man just bought my Glock 22 yesterday 40 Smith & Wesson love it love it love it
That has been my carry rig for the past 6 months. King Tuk and a Glock 23. As always great video Hickok!
Love the slow motion portion a the end of this video...SWEET!!!.....LOLOL
Great video .One great characteristic of the gen 4 23 is the dual recoil springs. It really helps with recoil and makes for a 40 cal pistol that is surprisingly easy to control and fun too.
As a police officer here in the Cincinnati, Ohio area I just want to say I love all the videos. You are a sure shot and no one should ever make the decision to get in a shoutout with you. I would love to shoot with you when we are down that way !
I’ve had the same gun for 8 years and love it. My EDC is a Sig p365, but the G23 is my home defense gun. I don’t understand why people bash the .40 so much.
.40 is the way to go. Hits hard. Recoil is not bad at all. I'm very happy with my Glock 23 and my Glock 22.
Phenomenal shooting in this video Mr Hickok!
I finally put money down on a 23. It had become one of those pistols that I just had to own to accompany the G27. Both Gen 3 since this is Cali and limited to 10 in the mag, if I ever move to a free state I'm going crazy buying standard capacity magazines for my favorite guns.
Love it when I get an email in the morning saying Hickok uploaded a video. More motivation to wake up =]
