    If you're a single rider, there is a line specifically for solo riders at the Fitzimmons lift. You have to hang your bike on the side of the carrier, but it's a great way to skip a massive line as well as meet some new people or riding buddies.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  Před 7 lety +6

      Thanks for that Caleb! Ya it's definitely faster.

      that side carrier thing doesn’t apply for 29” Large or XL Bikes, so if you’re riding one of those bikes you can put it in the main carrier thing.

    I'd say that a massive hack for people that go up there for their first time is to stretch! Stretch out your forearms and hands because when you're shredding those jump trails, they seem smooth, but the braking bumps will absolutely kill if you're not used to it.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  Před 7 lety +5

      Very true. Riding park (especially a huge park like Whistler) can beat you to a pulp if you're not careful. Eating good food, stretching and pacing yourself is key if you want to ride hard for a few days in a row. Thanks man!

    Fat Tony's Pizza for lunch. Buy pizza by the slice. Close to chairlift, fast and cheap as chips!

    One of the big problems with Creekside right now is that you have to either take Dusty's DH (awful brake bumps) or BC's Trail down (fun, but reasonably hard trail and long -- challenging at the end of a long day). I was down there Saturday and you can see a couple new trails being built including a blue square flow trail, so it will get better next year.
    They also close Creekside gondola at 5pm so you can't download if you are exhausted... and you are riding the trails after sweep back to your car.

    Creekside is a great winter hack too! We used to skateboard in the bottom of that parking lot. I wonder if the ramps are still there. Not likely.

    If riding solo, take a small cable/chain bike lock to keep your bike secure whilst at lunch, bathroom, etc.

    1. bike to the WBP from wherever you're staying, or get there early. Parking Sucks! Creekside parking lot/gondola doesn't run the entire season. 2. Often they run the lift 20 mins before stated opening time - hot laps first 45 mins before crowd forms. worth getting here early for. 3. Store your jacket/backpack under the Fitz platform. bring a water bottle. Taps available in both singles line and regular line, but Garbonzo bike n bean does not give water cups out anymore. They do have a water fountain, but bring your own bottle. Never had a problem leaving my stuff unattended under the Fitz lift line platform 3. Bring a lock to keep chained to the bike racks so you can use when going for lunch 4. Sunscreen provided in guest relations or in the singles line, but don't count on it. When the first bottle runs out, they rarely ever replace it the rest of the season. 5. A post ride float on an explorer 200 ($25 bucks at Walmart Squamish) is the best post ride activity ever, better with beers (asides from disc golf course - better yet do both!). 6. Whatever you do, don't drive after said beers. Whistler is NOTORIOUS for busting DUI's. Bike everywhere in Whistler, but bring a beer-run bike you don't mind locking up at the disc golf course 7. Double check all pertinent bolts/screws etc. before every day in the park, and re-check again mid-sesh (if not even more frequently). 8. Just cause you have lived here for a season, have a job in town, it does not make you a local. Respect the real locals and they will happily share more secrets/tips. One Love!

    The guy that takes your bike for you...
    What if someone dressed up as one of them and then steals your bike?
    Also I hope this video doesn't get too many views because then everyone will be using these tips and I want them all to myself.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  Před 7 lety +3

      Haha well, I went in and talked to them about the video before hitting record, so they helped make it run nice and fast. Normally you'd walk up to the desk, ask to have your bike checked in, then they give you a ticket. At that point someone from behind the desk (in this case, an awesome dude named Ivan) grabs your bike and takes it downstairs to lock it up. It's pretty secure.

    now at Aava it’s not GoPro Hero 4 and 5 you get to borrow it’s now GoPro Hero 5 and 6, so it looks like when a new GoPro comes out they get the previous model for you to borrow which is pretty cool, but tbf I did end up buying the Hero 7 Black from Costco, which is actually a tip for people wanting to have their own GoPro to get footage while at the park, always be sure and buy them from Costco, they do cost the same as everywhere else but you always get extra stuff with it that you don’t get for free, I got the Selfie Stick, Head Mount, and Quick Clip in addition to the stuff you already get.

    Pan Pacific had bike valet as well, probably common to most hotels there. Buy as much liqour and food as you can before heading up there because a few days in Whistler can add up quite quickly. Or bring cash and live it up because the nightlife and food is awesome:) Was also the first McDonald's I ever have been to with a doorman at nighttime and they only let a few ppl in at a time.

      Tom Riley for longer stays, getting an AirBnB is the way to go. Book one with a full kitchen and save a ton on food. Usually places give a decent discount for stays longer than a week too. It's worth private messaging the owner once you've found a decent place to see if they can move on the price. Hope that helps!

      rys0nic from what I saw, their prices were on par with the other decent hotels in the area, so if you're going to pay for a hotel, why not go with the one that welcomes bikers the most?
