      mad pariah In terms of Grievous, back before he became half-droid he was a hero to his people the Kaleesh in being a great warlord and fighting off these dudes called the Huk who wished to enslave all of his people. After a while the Huk got the help of the Republic and made the Kaleesh look like Villains. Jedi Knights were sent to stop the war and they caused the Kaleesh to go into poverty and many of them died from starvation. Anyway, the Jedi allowed the Huk to commit a lot of atrocities against Grievous which is why he hates them so much

    Here George Lucas missed a golden opportunity to actually give General Grievous some depth.
    When Obi - Wan asks for his motivation, Lucas could of done this:
    Obi - Wan boldly yelled: "An army with no loyalty! No Spirit! Just programming. What do you have to show for all your power? What do have you to gain?!"
    General Grievous stopped suddenly and a brief silence filled the room as his head slightly bowed. He Looked at Obi - Wan with his eyes, the last clear vestige of his original body, and there was an obvious pain in them that Obi - Wan felt.
    "I was there Obi - Wan. On the front lines leading my people to victory against a species that attempted to murder us. I was there when your race of Jedi rained down from the sky and killed my people like animals. I was there when my body was destroyed by your Jedi ships. What do I hope to gain you ask?"
    He separated his two arms into four and drew out his light sabers.
    "A Future. A Future where there are no Jedi!"
    He Lunged forward, striking at Obi - Wan from all sides who was momentarily stunned by Grievous's story. Promptly leaping downwards out of the corner, Obi - Wan narrowly avoided Grievous's blows. Before Obi - Wan could even bring up his Lightsaber to defend himself, Grievous was on him, grabbing Obi - Wan's arm with his leg and throwing him into the ceiling. Using the force to push Grievous away, Obi - Wan fled the Control Room.

    Apart from the irony of Order 66, it's funny how Kenobi criticizes the droid army, when the Separatists actually believe it's far more humane, as they don't have to sacrifice actual lives.
    In a way, the separatists are correct. Once the war is over, the droids can just shut down and be kept in storage. The clones, however, would be pretty much displaced in a peaceful society.

      Yeah canon grievous tends to win his interactions with or without Magna guards, but it's not even the force that screws him over. It's plot armour. There's 2 times here where grievous could have used his other two arms to kill kenobi, but proceeded to just hold 4 lightsabers to his one blade. And this can be seen in literally every fight of his. Instead of using his arms to attack (weather it be 2 or 4) he instead just aims for peoples lightsabers. Then the victim gets away, uses the force grievous runs, and then he's a coward. The writers really screwed up an amazing character.

      Lam Wing Fung I said it during the clone wars cartoon, the movie, then the animated series. The creators of SW media apparently have no idea how electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic actuators work. The idea that Kenobi could even hold steady the lifeless husk of general grievous leaving over him, is ridiculous in itself, even with the force reenforcing his movements. But that thing is a moving robot. Even of we take into account the "weakest" of the 3 popular actuator technologies, that is, electronic, we have a robot that is several times more powerful than a human could ever be. And just to clarify, grievous's arms, though they are not consistent in their appearance, generally share characteristics of hybrid technology, to either hydraulic or pneumatic, aided with electronic for fingers and tje famous lightsaber-rotation stuff. I don't think I have to question whether Kenobi can match a hydraulic motor in strength.
      Bottomline, Soresu or not, there is no possible way he is a match for the general. Not even the magnaguards for that matter. After the first attack from the general, his lightsaber would be yanked right out of his hand.

    • @Hero_of_Storms
      @Hero_of_Storms Před 7 lety +504

      Horváth Benedek Jedi are not ordinary humans. You're only questioning Sci-Fi logic, which is kind of pointless to criticize.

    • @horvathbenedek3596
      @horvathbenedek3596 Před 7 lety +90

      ryhansen1 They can use the force, but other than that, they don't have superhuman strength. Or if and when they do, they have to use immense force powers to fuel it.
      And I know it is cheap to argue about this, it just makes so little sense. Vader could strangle a man with his bionic hand by just grabbing them by the throat. Not too many people can do that, which means it is reasonable that even in star wars, machines are quite strong. I also remeber a scene in the CW animated series where a clone punches a droid in the chest, and the droid doesn't even flinch , while the clone sprains his hand or something(NOT super battle droid, just a regular battle droid.), again suggesting that under the skeletal exterior and comical appearance, they are massive war machines. I just want consistency. And since is is impossible, I lile bitching about it.

    To be fair Grievous' motivations for a future without Jedi are justified in a way. Before becoming the lead General of the droid army, his species the Kaleesh had a rivalry with a neighboring species called Huk. The Jedi sided with the Huk against the Kaleesh. Sometime later on a bomb was set inside of his ship which fatally injured him but not killing him. He later woke up to Count Dooku who actually planted the bomb in Grievous' ship but Dooku told Grievous that the Jedi did it. This is also the simplified backstory of General Greivous for people who didn't know.
    Also Greivous isn't the General's real name. It's Qymaen jai Sheelal.

    What I love about this fight is something I learned from someone else. Exactly, it's a nice touch. Obi-Wan's style being suited to blocking blaster bolts specifically (which are akin to blocking multiple lightsabers) also makes him the perfect counter to Grievous, hence why he was picked for Utapau over Windu or any other Jedi Master.

He was more than willing to fight Kenobi until he used the force on him, obviously Grevious can't use the force so that's a major advatnage over him that would get him killed. Why would he stick around for that? Lmao. He has fought several Jedi at once several times being quick and stealthy, some have also called this cowardly when in fact Grevious had the advantage and kept it. He's no coward, he's just a very smart soldier. The only time Grevious made a mistake in this judgement was when he fought Kenobi for the last time and thought Kenobi was down, in which the force was his downfall. There are so many reasons why the Legends version of General Grievous was a much better character than the new canon Grievous in Clone wars, they really messed him up hard. If the writers of the Clone Wars wanted to have a incompetent brute they should have kept the bounty hunter Durge.
    The Old General Grievous was a tragic tale of a hero who became a monster because he was doing what he thought was right but became consumed by anger based on lies from Count Doku foreshadowing the fall of Anakin to becoming Darth Vader based in the lies of Emperor Palpatine. In fact General Greivous was meant to be a prototype of the cybernetics program that gave Darth Vader his life support suit.
