This ARC is so important for the clones latter actions during Order 66. I think if Jesse didn't have to endure Umbara, he would've actually considered listening to Rex, even with the chip active. While Rex was naturally also affected by the Inhibitor, he chose to fight the effects, thus helping Ahsoka do something about it and buying her time. Jesse didn't question anything, because he also believed in his heart that the jedi were capable of betrayal, and because he was so deathly afraid of a second Umbara.
Fully agree. Because even when the chip was fully active, there was a moment where Rex did break through to Jesse. He lowered his guns for just a few seconds. It sucks because ultimately he followewd through with Order 66 and died because of it, but i like to imagine he mightve been able to fight hard if he had more faith in the jedi like Rex did
Everyone hates on krell but everything he foresaw came to pass with a oh so convenient army of clones that happened to be made in secret right when the jedi needed it

Recruiting Krell was a GENIUS move on Sidious's part. Krell was just a test run to see if Order 66 would actually work, and the clones taking him down gave Sidious his confirmation.
You're making it up.
There was no test run, the clones committed lynching and the clone who did it was sent to court for the execution of the still active Jedi general. There was no communication at the base at that time and they could not give the order to execute the clones, and without a decision from the highest command of the republic, no one could deprive Krell of his powers.

True but he wasn't trying to get away here, in Order 66 he likely would have as even he would be slightly confused.
A reason why Order 66 was successful was because how sudden it was, because the Clones was being mind controlled by Inhibitor Chips, there was no real malice or emotion in their actions to be sensed by Jedi
Many Jedi couldn’t see the attack coming and were backstabbed, others that survived the first few moments were overwhelmed

If there's one battle I'll never forget watching as a kid it's this one. The abilities of the clones against krell as a group was awesome. I always thought you had to be lucky to beat a Jedi or sith without the force. These guys showed me otherwise. And since then the clones weren't expendable, not to me. Also makes sense how they bodied the temple, even with Vader.
there are hundreds of years of history in Star Wars where regular soldiers had no choice but to fight armies of force users. Specifically the old republic era was filled with Anti-Force Wielder weapons
so we've seen lots of different examples of how normal people could overcome Jedi with the right tools. A jedi can block blaster bolts, but there's no hope for a Jedi against a flamethrower or scatter blaster, they would have no choice but to run away. As soon as someone gets close enough with one of those weapons, that Jedi is fucked. In the old wars, 3 republic troopers was more than enough to kill a Sith Warrior.
Never realized that this was Tup’s first time taking down a jedi, he had practice for later in the inhibitor chip arc
I wouldn’t call this practice, clones basically forgot everything they learned and forgot everything during the war after their inhibitor chips were activated. So I wouldn’t say this was practice

In the bad batch when wrecker's inhibitor chip activated he immediately attacked his brothers and once they stunned him and took it out, he explained that he knew what was going on but could not control it so he apologised to omega because the control chip was too strong.
In season 7 the final episode when ahsoka removed rex's chip, rex apologised to ahsoka for what happened.
This is probably what made him freak out at all, his facial expressions turn to rage when Rex is explaining the plan, hes the one that guides Krell to get attacked by the monster and hes the one that both takes out Krell with a stun and suggests executing him due to him being too dangerous of an asset, it slowly added up over time and caused the order to bug out.

The reason so many Jedi were killed as easily as they were was because they were blindsided by the clone’s betrayal. The only Jedi who were actually able to fight were the ones in the temple, but seeing as Coruscant is literally the heart of the Republic, they were never gonna be able to outlast the clones sent there
@@kryptonianking552 I don't think he's one of the strongest jedi. He's maybe slightly above average but that's it. It's just that the clones are no match for the jedi knight who has at least some battle experience. In hindsight, there could be multiple scenarios where Krell could actually defeat the clones, had he not been that arrogant.
Tldr
Cthulu's Moshpit is the name of my new thrash band.
I love how Fives signals to Jesse to move in on Krell. Even from the very beginning Fives knew there was something wrong about Krell on how he was constantly putting his brothers in danger at every turn.
Imagine if Anakin heard about this before the clones went after Krell.
That could have been an awesome Vader moment; Anakin chasing Krell through the dark jungle and beating him down. Krell being terrified as Anakin slices off his arms and then beheads him. None of the clones would question Anakin's decision, and they would interpret his rage as his love toward them rather than him being pulled to the dark side.
The campaign of Umbara is one of the most well-done narrtive arcs of all the series.
That scene at 3:28 of the clones firing and advancing into certain death is phenomenal. They truly are the republic’s most loyal citizens.
Those aren’t citizens. Those are true men.
They are 10 year olds
Ans the have betrayed the republic xd
They are soldiers and good soldiers do what’s right
@@finding_aether Yes lmao they really are. For those who don't know, the clones have accelerated aging so they're just about 10 or so in this.

@@abiezerEscude

@@firingallcylinders2949
Yeah, true. Everyone is fighting for their lives against the Empire, so?
Even Hera Syndulla💚💖
The only disappointment I see here is that we didn't get to see Krell's look of shock when he realized one clone trooper was brave enough to kill him
Kremlin: "I will not be undermined by creatures bred in some laboratory!"
Me if I was a clone trooper : " Get Bent, you Grievous wannabe!"
Love how accurate this scene is. My grandad was a Sargent first class in Korea and he had a commander that acted just like this. He actually sent my grandad and the men in his platoon to die intentionally. Everyone hated his guts because of how much of a racist and a asshole he was. Just goes to show not all military generals are made equal. Oh and he was court marshaled and arrested once my grandad left due to his injuries
I believe in Vietnam (what this arc was based off of) they would have “accidentally” kill the shit CO. I think it was called fragging
@@CT-5736-Bladez There are records of Roman legionaires doing the same thing to their Centurion. It's a tale as old as time.
@@jackparker8602 very common among aristocrac military. They reach position due to birth, not merit, and grew with that mentality. That quickly puts them at disadvantage in the field, and usually blame their own men. Self-sabotage ensues, and then riots. @@jackparker8602 Not really, Centurions were respected figures, first in line. It'd be like clones killing Rex here - a political moment, the whole cohort changing allegiance while he was trying to stop them, in the Crisis of the Third century for example.
@@TheR00k There was a centurion in Tacitus' Annals given the nickname "Cedo Alteram" due to his propensity for beating his troops with his vine staff until it broke, at which point he would call for another.
During the Pannonian Mutiny, he was one of the first officers killed.
He seems to have been something of an exception though.
If Krell wasn't so full of himself, he's defenses would've been impenetrable by basically all conventional attacks, even lightsabers. Shame, such potential.
Well, to be fair, they didn't win with a conventional attack.
Wouldn't even regard it as him being full of himself, he just genuinely seemed to enjoy killing the clones so decided to "have fun" with it ig
The one time executing order 66 didn’t have a negative impact on the clones in the long run
This show really pushed the limit on what a kids show can be. I’m an adult and the scene with Waxer still hits harder than most shows with shallow scenes aimed towards adults. This show was a God send especially with arcs like these.
hurts more that on his helmet you can see a decal of the twi'lek girl he and boil saved
I love that Krell is so arrogant that he decides to fight the clones with his bare hands. There's no way for him to use that to his advantage and he still has both lightsabers, so he intentionally handicaps himself just to make the bloodbath more fun. He's so certain that he can slaughter every single clone without breaking a sweat that he decides to play with them and outright puts away his lightsabers like he's saying "you insignificant peons aren't even worth it".
Grievous vs Krell would have been the best fight ever
Krell would wreck Grievous. Krell has force powers, Grievous does not.
@@Intrepid_Crusader1096 yeah that's why griveous killed 100 jedis
@@TheGuyWithABatsuit Depends on which Grievous. If we're talking 2003 Grievous, then Krell is gonna get his ass handed to him. But if it's this shows version of Grievous, Krell would win.

The Killer Krab Krell has the Force, but he isn’t as strong as Kenobi, who couldn’t use the Force alone to kill Greivous (“Blasters, how uncivilized”) His acrobatics and four blades are negated by Grevious strength and multiple blades. It would be an entertaining fight though.

@@averybishopmartin6964 Yeah
@@toystoryfan55 there hasn't been any other mention of him after the Umbara Arc
I would think that Dogma probably became most of the Clones that obeyed Order 66.
Unfortunately not much is known, looking at wookiepedia just mentions that he was placed into Republic custody after the battle. Nothing else after that.
Krell was definitely one of the Jedi that I just could not stand what so ever. Even before his betrayal of which I had already seen coming one day or another. I was relieved when he was killed.
me too after what he did to waxer
Krell was certainly one of those Jedi who you'd not want to be around. He might not just up and kill you, but you knew he was thinking about it.
@@literallyanangrymoose7717 ya i just would at least wanted to see him in a lightsaber duel with someone. it would be interesting to see how he fights another force wielder
Krell was the extreme outcome of what the Jedi were becoming in their ignorance during a time of war. His vision was right on, but he too was ignorant as he was not powerful enough to see that it was Palpatine and the clones, not Dooku who would rise.

Dogma is the only clone General Krell, actually names without being reprimanded to do so like Rex.
The rest, he calls them by their CT codes or rank

Goddamn
For all his ego , he sure had stupidity as big as it
His lightsaber noises were so dang satisfying.
Also it's crazy how he absolutely slaughters heaps of clones
This is why Anakin saw Jedi as the bad guys. A lot of them just started seeing themselves as superiors. Wanting more power and taking the easy path of the dark side. Which ironically is just what Anakin did to fight against that idea
Yeah, it's important to remember that Anakin was looking for anything he could to justify his actions.
Go away with your defence for anakin
Anakin's fall was his own doing of disobedience at every turn
Not really. He was willing to latch on to any explanation that justifies how he felt he was wronged by the Jedi.
Except Krill is already a Sith at this time. Jedi is an order not a condition, you cannot blame the actions of force users that turned to the dark side to Jedis because those are actions by a Sith.
“A lot of Jedi”. Yeah right buddy. It was a handful at most.

Krell even said it himself. Except he didn't consider himself a Jedi. 😅

This is by far one of the best arcs of the series. It developed the character of the clones, and I love it
While I love this episode as it teaches the importance of being able to be self reliant in war and not always a blind robot following orders, I always wished krell wasn’t joining the dark side and really just was mutinied against for being incompetent and/or discriminatory so it shows the importance the needing good leaders in war too.
You can see that in Centaura.
The fact that waxer has a drawing of Numa on his helmet 😔
