When The Fugees dropped this, I heard it at 10pm on the radio, on Funkmaster Flex's show, it was basically being debuted at this point. The next morning I went to Tower Records to find the album. There was a cardboard sign taped to the wall that said-'the song killing me softly is by Lauren Hill and the Fugees, the album is not out yet'. That is how hot this was, the entire album is a monster from the first second to the last.

Yeah, you gotta give props to both artists, Roberta Flack and the Fugees, both are legendary. And for a future reaction, maybe do Enya's "Boadicea", and then do the Fugees "Ready or Not", which plays a sample of Enya throughout the song? Not actually a remake, but would be interesting and fun to see your reaction to both songs, because what the Fugees did with that sample is a lot.
Him just listening to Enya would be good, too. I recommend "Only Time" and "A Day Without Rain", which is also my favorite album from her.

OOOOO Lauryn Hill is one of my guilty pleasures. That woman is an amazing musician. Please, PLEASE, for the love of all the gods... Do yourself a solid and check out her MTV Unplugged album. The whole thing, even if in your spare time. Sit down with a good set of headphones. But specifically the songs (in order) Mr. Intentional, I Find It Hard to Say (Rebel), Just Like Water, I Get Out. I cannot express in words how these very specific songs changed my life during a time where I questioned everything in my late 20's early 30's and beyond. Changed my thinking, encouraged me to be me, and gave me great strength during some of the worst of my days on this earth.
These are not incredibly well known but you can introduce your audience to them. I'm sure some of your viewers already know of them. Another amazing, well known song, is Doo Wop (That Thing) which I will eventually be doing a compilation on.

Lauren is a queen who can sing and rap with the best. Then you have Wyclefs musical genius and Pras smooth rap style. One of the best albums of the 90’s regardless of genre.

The original version, which is by Lori Lieberman. It was released in 1972. The Roberta Flack version was released in 1973. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that she was the original artist to record it. Neither of them wrote it, and they do sing it quite differently. The Fugees covered it in the style of Roberta Flack's version.

The Fugees (Foo, not Few) were definitely one of my favorite Hip Hop groups. They do a perfect fusion of rap, reggae, R&B, and soul. Check out No Woman, No Cry for some of their reggae flavor.
