That's exactly how we adopted our cat, haha. I was walking my dog and he just ran up SCREAMING. We walked with him for about 2 weeks and noticed he was looking worse and worse so we brought him to the vet and then my dog convinced me that we needed a cat. 😅

Exactly. Though my vet used to joke with me to look at some cats he had after people dropped them off as strays. Oh no, at one time I had 8 cats! Never again. It was so anxiety-provoking

I was thinking this, too. The video does not reveal whether the cat has been checked for a microchip at the vet.The cat is so social and I’d want to make sure he doesn’t have a family searching for him somewhere.

My first cat was a stray, and she was so social and clingy like a dog lol. You would have never expected her to be stray. But she was part of a stray litter and grew up with several neighbors feeding her. She realized that being friendly got her food and treats! But where I lived got very cold in the winter, so I ended up bringing her inside one day when it was getting quite cold. Took her to the vet the next day to get checked, and she was actually sick with a fever. Looking back, I wish I would have taken her in sooner ♥
@@dianeleirer9878 Vets normally check for a chip if they don't know you, and if he/she knows you well and your feline family, knows if you have one or not. They always check first if they've never seen the cat before.

A cat just rolling onto his back the first time he ever meets a dog is amazing, that's instant trust.
pretty sure the cat used to live in a house that had dogs, so is comfortable having lived with dogs it's whole life.

Since Bubba can't be an indoor cat, they could set up a catio area for him with a sheltered bed so he could still 'move in' permanently. Maybe, eventually, the other cats will accept him into the family. 🤞

It isn't clarified in the video, but she already has an area set up for Bubba with food and shelter as she works with their vet to safely transition him into their home. She also has paid for Bubba's vet visits and flea/tick meds to make sure he's healthy and happy in the meantime!
People who are kind to animals make me happy! I'm also glad she wants to someday let Bubba inside.
I currently have two cats, one from the street, and one abandoned by her previous owner.
I agree that a catio is a great idea, but I wouldn't say Bubba can't be an indoor cat. I've had strays in my neighborhood who one day decided that they wanted to follow me all the way into my house after surviving on the street for who knows how long. Over the years one stayed for a little while, one never left, and some come and go as they please.
They've all needed a trip to the vet, and a warm and comfortable place where they feel safe and loved!
And I know cats can take a little while to get along, but it looks like he has bonded with Coconut, so let him in and see what happens.
As long as the cat fighting/playing doesn't include a lot of vocals, (a little hissing is fine), things will be okay no matter what it looks like.
I've learned cats make decisions by themselves, our job is to learn how to understand cat language, to love them, and to share our life with them.
That cat knows where the good energy is!
Bubba doesn't even FLINCH when Coconut comes charging at him. I've seen plenty of cats and dogs get along with each other. But Bubba may be the most laid back cat I've ever seen!

I think Bubba deserves, at minimum,this own outdoor, warm, dry house plus fresh food and water daily. This would be a great way to protect him, plus he'll learn he has a permanent place to sleep each night. Coconut then has her pal in her own backyard!

Oh, adopt Bubba! He already gets along great with Coconut. Since your other two cats are mean to your dog they can play by themselves and Coconut and Bubba can play together and be a team! Win-win.
It’s not a a win-win. Cay does not want to bring Bubba inside because he may not be friendly to other cats. Bubba and Coconut my get along but Cay has two cats the Bubba my not get along with. Yes Cay may want to bring Bubba inside but in may not be safe. Everybody’s safety come before all.

But it takes time to not only introduce the cats to each other, but transition outdoor cats to indoors. On Instagram, she has confirmed that she is working with her vet to safely transition him indoors. She also has already paid for Bubba's vet visits and flea/tick meds to make sure he's healthy and happy in the meantime.
Only takes about 2 wks and patience.
@@judy7827 Bubba is an outdoor cat. A cat that is used to being outside cannot be locked indoors. If he lives in the house and goes out anytime and can also be outside during the day, that's okay. I don't know how the climate is there. But in winter, when it's cold, the cat needs a warm shelter.
Yes, you can adopt him and feed him. You can set a safe place for Bubba to sleep in outside with food and water. Then slowly introduce him to your indoor cats....until they get use to it and accept Bubba. Obviously Bubba wants your dog and adopted your family. He deserve not only a friend from your dog, but love and furever home.

Hope she tries her best cause it seems like he wants to come inside, at least at night when the temp drops and other animals start roaming. Plus they can’t get the proper sleep since they have to be so alert

@@judy7827 Its tricky to set up a proper outdoor shelter for a stray animal because other animals also want to get inside. One time I found a possum in there instead of my cat. Poor little guys
We have many cats, strays, abandoned and barn cats that have adopted us. A big family that pretty much get along. There might be some resentment to a newcomer but it soon melts. I think they realise they were new once too.
Bubba is a special cat, please give him parasite treatment along with you others, good food, shelter and any vet treatment he needs. Look out for him. He will have a better life if neutered too and will integrate more easily.
He is a wonderful friend to the dog and would be a great companion to all with help to integrate.

Thank you for your post. You are so correct regarding the things that should be done for Bubba. Until Bubba can be brought indoors, a catio or outdoor shelter should be built. Bubba looks great so someone must be feeding him. He also needs fresh water. This video made me wonder if Bubba has (had) a home somewhere. I appreciate you for caring about all cats. Until people get their cats, or other cats, spayed and neutered, the cat population will continue to become untenable. Thank you again for your support for cats 😻
Well put! Bubba needs a safe place to lay his head. Living outdoors is neither ideal nor desirable.
@@marcelmoulin3335 Sort of depends on the cat. Some cats that started as outdoor or indoor/outdoor will never be happy being indoor only. I have a baby girl that I had to make indoor only, because she developed some allergy, a few years back and she still doordashes. I've started training her to be on a harness and that has helped. Well she still doordashes but now at least she doesn't RUN when I go get her! She does look daggers at me when I let out her brothers and sisters.
WHAT A GREAT LIFE! No "owner", but everybody cares for him. The whole neighborhood is Bubba's territory, and Coconut loves him. Sure there are dangers, but Bubba has survived by his wits. May Bubba and Coconut have a long and happy friendship.😺🐶

So adorable!! I'm glad that this family wants to take Bubba in, just need to slowly introduce him to the other cats. Hopefully they other two cats will get used to Bubba's scent being on Coconut after their play time, it makes introductions easier if they're already used to his scent.
Lol unless they associate Bubba with Coconut, who they already don't like. But hopefully since Bubba isn't a hyper young dog, they might warm up to him more. They might also be relieved that Coconut has a playmate who isn't them lol.

An absolutely adorable pair. I hope Bubba can join the family too. So he'll have someone officially looking after him when it's really cold, or hot, or rainy, or he needs vet care, or a little companionship at night. He's such a sweetheart. I bet he'd be a real snuggle bug if he came inside. I introduced a new cat to one I'd had as an only cat for 11 years. He was so sweet he won her over and they became friends. Each situation is different but I hope it can happen for Bubba.
I agree 100% with you. I have two rescue cats and they are so loving. They want pets all the time, or when I should have said, when they want petting. Love my fur babies!

Your life improves with a furry companion. They help keep your grounded & help you keep things in perspective. They truly are treasures.

I really hope that some good, caring neighbour such as you are will let the kitty in their home, especially during winter, or al least, someone build a nice cozy little shelter for him, furnished with war, thick cozy blankets. Winters are very hard on stray animals. It is sweet to see how happy they are together. That is a VERY special cat to seek friendship from a neighbour's dog.

I don’t like hearing the hissing sounds from those cats. They sound a little scary to me. But this is the one cat that doesn’t hiss at Coconut. The perfect bond for each other!

Adorable friendship. She’s gotta get the stray cat into her home. My own dog, a beagle mix, predictably wants to go after any cat. Earlier this year, we introduced him to two barn kittens who were playful and had no fear. My dog is respecting them and doesn’t mind when they’re around. That’s amazing. ❤🐕
This is just adorable! I was going to say why he hasn’t come in and then I saw the other cats. Coconut and Bubba would get to actually cuddle if he was part of the family. He looks well taken care of though thanks to neighbours. I hope he has somewhere to go in bad weather!

I know Bubba’s lived most of his life outdoors but I’m really worried about him getting hit by a car or eaten by a predator… I hope they take care of him.
