My neighbor bought one of these used during the oil crisis in 1971 when the price of gasoline skyrocketted. He got it for cheap because no one wanted a gas guzzler. The family loved it.
I was GIVEN one of these in 1972. Even at 40 cents a gallon for gas, it was tough to afford driving. I lived in Denver and worked just a few miles down the road in Aurora. Some days I had to hitch hike. But this beauty (with NO ENGINE) is gunna be right up my alley. It's a real treat watching your channel. No fussing around while you figure out how to do something or correct a mistake. Here's the kit. Here's the plan. Here's how it's progressing. Then BAM - DONE !!! NICE. Thanks for sharing... P.S. I've OWNED over a hundred cars during my 74 years, so your gunna get a few more "nostalgia stories" from me. Thanks for letting me write 'em down.
That green paint you used has a lot of metallic in it and it looks very scale for metalflake like the lowriders do in full size. That is a FINE build as usual! Great looking completed model!
Super clean build, model roundup is an excellent source of styrene! Congrats on getting them as a sponsor for your channel, you are a class guy Chris, love your builds!!!
Great build as usual Chris. Well done! Model Roundup! Indeed!! What a great place to buy models and model supplies. I have been doing it for years and Jack is a great guy! I am a big fan! Thanks for sharing...
That looks amazing with that white roof and green paint. My only criticism is the lack of trim on the side window. Looks like its got one giant side window.
Thanks! It's just practice. 60+ reviews per year gives me a lot of time to work it out and I also have days where it simply doesn't work well and have to strip the body and start over.
Another excellent build/review sir! No lie, I placed my order right after your video and gave you the credit due. Looks like she turns out SWEET! Keep doing what you doin! Cliff
Wow, that is a great looking build, I need to get one of those for my stash. But a ton of mods would need to be done to it. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
Cool!! When I had my full scale "type c" 1966 DeVille lowrider I actually chrome plated the headlight surrounds. I thought it looked awesome... Ahh, youth :)
Great build- the body color looks period correct to my eye. I like the low look and I am glad that you built it that way. Hasegawa has some fantastic sports prototype kits available. Hope you can do a review/build of the race car kits in the future!
Dude, I am not such a fan of curb-side model kits. HOWEVER, you made this whole process SO much fun to watch. I'm REALLY diggin' this watch you paint everything, insead of like you used to do. All in all I really look forward to each one of these videos you post... Thank you, see you in the next video-oh, and I loved the music you chose for the paint segment!
Great videos as always, i like the music, although i never heard it and i live in Puerto Rico. When i heard it was like: .... its that song talking about what.... nice selection 👌
Actually that paint would do fine straight on the plastic with no primer, although it would be hard to hide that yellow. Great job on the kit! I saw that one at Model Roundup and was wondering what the heck. Now I know what the heck. :)
I am Puerto Rican and I appreciate your background music, however I want to say that here in the island we do not dig lowriders that much, this is more a Mexican thing! We do love Japanese cars from the 70 and 80, hope to see one of those kit !
Congrats on your model round-up ,hook-up. quick question, when matte finishing chrome parts I had mixed results for example : no change at all .other times it turned my chrome grey. I always used the same Rust-Oleum 2x matte clear. Now I do a test spray first. thanks again for another great video and would like to know if you ever had this problem?
I use Treehouse Studios Matte on parts I want to dull. No issues so far. Might have to do with how that company had their chroming done, what chemicals, etc.
This kit is actually a rerelease of one of their 1970s American car kit series. Some of the Japanese car kits from the 70s to the mid 80s weren't actually licensed by the car's manufactures (unless it's based off Japanese brands) despite having the brand and model of the car printed on packages, as those kits were only sold in Japan and the model company can get away from legal troubles. If you purchase vintage Japanese car kits from that period, you may found out that there's no licensings printed anywhere.
Novice at best here lol, doin a 62 Impala build currently. Had a few questions if ya got the time. 1. Do you do anything to the 'in the box (white)' parts before painting or spraying? (Sand or clean etc? Or do you just spray the parts as is?) 2. Do you do clear coat? Immediately after paint a good or no? (Of course once paint has dried). When and how do you think is the best process? 3. How do you tint windows on models? Lol. Never seen that! Like I said, novice here but I've always built models for fun but never REALLY seen someone show how they get real lookin results! Great vids man! Learnin alot! Maaannn silver sharpies 😂 never woulda thought! But it does the trick! Been wastin time tapin n hand painting lol. Good stuff man!
I have a question. You mention in you videos that you place your kits in Simple Green before priming. Do you add anything to it, how long do you leave the parts in ?
I myself am a modern day model train guy, but I like the cars to. Nothing against the Latin music love the sound but if you do another low rider how about "Low Rider" by the R&B band WAR.
You can't use licensed music without paying massive royalty fees, You Tube shuts all of that down. You have to use music they approve from their website. I would have used it if I could.

Thanks Darth! And yes, a welcome addition to the Workshop!
Another nice build, like the color choice, great job.....so so with the music
Wow!! You gave the Cadillac the class it deserves. The one on the box looks ugly and a bit tasteless. I love the green version you made. Bravo!!!!
Thanks Martin!
Model Roundup RULES!!!!!
They do!
Slick looking pimp yacht, turned out nice mate. I dig them low profile tires too
Like the color you chose, it is so different looking. Great build again.
Thanks!
Awesome build Chris. Love the green.
Thanks Charlie!
Great build as usual Chris. Well done! Model Roundup! Indeed!! What a great place to buy models and model supplies. I have been doing it for years and Jack is a great guy! I am a big fan! Thanks for sharing...

Awesome review and build on the Cadillac 😎👍🏻
Thanks!
That looks amazing with that white roof and green paint. My only criticism is the lack of trim on the side window. Looks like its got one giant side window.
Love it! Was looking to buy one and just build it as a mild custom 👌🏼
Cool!
great build! Love them long body cadillacs
Thanks Andrew!
turned out nice chris. amazing how you make it so easy to spray that paint without thought....guess I just over think it .
Thanks! It's just practice. 60+ reviews per year gives me a lot of time to work it out and I also have days where it simply doesn't work well and have to strip the body and start over.

Wow, that is a great looking build, I need to get one of those for my stash. But a ton of mods would need to be done to it. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
Thanks Chopper!
Great color, thanks for the tips!
Thanks Stuart!
Another very nice build. I like the "easier" curbside kits.. less time on building.. more time on masking and painting and stuff :)
Thanks Hisham!
Cool!! When I had my full scale "type c" 1966 DeVille lowrider I actually chrome plated the headlight surrounds. I thought it looked awesome... Ahh, youth :)
Nice!
Nice kit looks great !

Thanks, we'll see what comes down the pipe in the future. I've got a Salvino stock car coming up soon.
Dude!! That was a sweet build up! Very cool of Modelroundup to sponsor you like that!
Thanks Bryan, heck yes, I have more kits from them coming it. It expands my range of kit brands and allows me to get even more reviews done.

Nice Lo Lo Chris!!
Thank you Todd!

hpiguys Workshop love your videos ! Thanks
Fans of the TV series “American Gods” will recognize that this kit is very close to character “Mr. Wednesday”s 1966 Cadillac Series 62 4-door.
Well, after last week, not so much anymore..... LOL
Congrats on your model round-up ,hook-up. quick question, when matte finishing chrome parts I had mixed results for example : no change at all .other times it turned my chrome grey. See my video on painting with cheap spray cans, and my more recent builds where I show much more of the work being done.
You need a white fedora with a long feather in the band to sit on the front seat.
Just call me 'Silky'!
Hey I was wondering where you got that stand for your models also, where did you get the stand for spray painting ?
I use Tamiya spray stands and Helping Hands soldering grips from Harbor Freight.
I have a question. You mention in you videos that you place your kits in Simple Green before priming. Do you add anything to it, how long do you leave the parts in ?
Hi Sam, if you check out my Painting With Cheap Spray Cans video I go over the quick washing I give all parts. Thanks!
Where do you get those silver pencils?
Nice job on this Caddy.
Thanks, Hobby Lobby sells them as a set of 12 with many colors.
Nice build... Que viva Puerto Rico...

Thanks!
👍👍 American cars #1
I know this is going to be a simple build I want it because of what it is
Nice, pick one up!
Looks very nice! Love to see more Caddy kits come out/back. Just curious, have you used Molotow chrome pens?
Thanks, yes, I have two types, I do use them for some things.
Do you use regular spray cans for painting ?
Yes, the painting is all covered in this video.
Nice build jus spent a half hour on their website lol
Haha, nice!
Cool kit 👍👍👍 -mhk2021
Thanks!
is it just me or wouldnt it be nice if we didnt get to see the end result in the thumbnail, but later in the video when the time is right?
Someone please grab the waitress we are outta chips and salsa..... great build as always
Thanks for watching Johnnie!

That's something to look into.
i believe it's a repackage the original is the same but they called it a custom 1966 cadillac coupe deville
The gas tank is bigger than my first apartment 😂😂
hehehe
Looks like they used an old Johan mold
Nice build, as usual. I'm a fan of Latin music, but lose the loop!
Short song, have to loop it. Thanks!
Rear window posts man it's messing with me
Budddddddyyyyy wat happend with the music u turning mu cha cha
Slick looking pimp yacht, turned out nice mate. I dig them low profile tires too
