Hey i got a question does it also work with paint and not spray paint?
Oh yea one more thing is it possible to make hydraulics for it?
That’s just an amazing build. I love how you slip into the mindset of the person who owns the car, and build the car as it would be in reality. You captured it perfectly. Love it!
Thanks a lot John!
In 1965 my girlfriend (my now wife of 54 years) and I would cruise around in her dads 64 Impala SS with a 327 and auto. White with white interior. A beautiful car and we sure did have a lot of fun cruising in that Impala. Fondest of memories. My neighbor bought a new 64 SS with the 425 HP 409 4 speed, posi and all the go fast goodies at that time, Canary Yellow, black interior. First set of rear tires lasted one week!
Great build, I got mine and I'm painting it, you guessed it, white, next one Canary Yellow. Thanks Chris I love your builds and am trying to watch them all.
Thanks for taking time out of your day to watch and comment!

Back in the early seventies I owned the real deal a 64 big block SS 409 convertable never realized how much it would be worth some day. I was getting married so I thought something cheaper on gas would be the better way to go so I bought a VW lol I still think about that impala it would really get up and go and such a beautiful car memories . Hey anyway thanks for all you do for the hobby God bless.
Wow, that came out looking amazing. Keep up the great day and Rust In Peace.
Thanks a lot Chopper, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video as usual Chris...this kit looks like a must have. Well done my friend. Thanks for sharing...
Thanks Mike!
Looking ready for a quickie Reston job! Always love the build reviews. Already got this one stashed away.
Thanks Clifton!
Nice kit.. and a great build as usual. I like the way they did the dash in separate pieces.. makes detailing it easier.
Thanks, yes it does.
Absolutely love this one, huge impala fan and the window decal pulls it all together, love weathering on it
Thank you Kristian!
Nice build. Glad you appreciate the LowRider culture. Keep up the great work. Your builds are freaking awesome. No matter what type of interests your in to. Your builds are just freaking awesome. 👏👏👏 👍😁
Thanks for the comment Dan! I like any type of kit, very few I'll decline to build. Take care!
Awesome build Chris! Thanks as always bro! 👍👍
Thanks Whitey!
Nice!
Next time you need a beat up paint job just send it to me, I seem to mess em all up. =)
Hahaha, best comment I've heard about paint jobs!!!!
Very cool build scheme. Came together great. Really looks like what you planned for it. Well done.
Thanks man!
Great review and build Chris. What am I saying they're always great reviews and builds. Well done again!
Thanks a lot Clay!
I like how all those details tell a story, like the factory paint color under the custom paint and oil stains.
Thanks man!
In my opinion you do awesome work on your model builds.
Keep building my friend.
👍👍👍
Thanks a lot Tim!
Nice work Chris, really like how you did the older looking paint!...Bill
Thanks much Bill!
Really nice! I love the weathering.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Great looking build Chris
Thanks Charlie!
Awesome mate, another fantastic build
Thank you Gary!
I've never made one before, so I can't really compare it to anything. But that looks super complicated and hard! Good job and keep it up 👍
Thanks for watching!
Well done ! Looks great ! 👍😊
Thank you Henrique!
Eazy E and Oce Cube would be proud!!! Awesome work, Chris. Love the story of the car, too.
Haha, thanks Buckner!
I always wanted a 63 or 64 Impala on Dayton’s when I was kid. It’d still be cool to pimp one even though
I’m 44 now. Lol
Nice. Aoshima has a nice curbside 1966 Impala. Thanks for the build.
I've done their Caddy lowrider, cool car.
Cruisin' down the street in my 6 4 looks awesome Chris
Thanks David!
Really nice weathered finish Chris! You surprised me with your option choice, I really like this!!
Thanks Ron! Felt like doing another weathered one!
Nice low rider - swear I can hear the music coming from it. Thanks for the build.
Thanks a lot!
Now that is "Bad Ass" if you don't mind my French there, lol. It reminds me of the movie with the same title and if you haven't seen it yet you should check it out?
That's another awesome build Chris and you never fail to amaze me with all of your tricks and hints on your building skills and I've been at it 50+ years and I still pick up things from you and learn new stuff all the time watching your videos!
Thanks Barney!
The impala looks good. i love the used look.
seeing how you have a lot of paint build up in the back of your spray booth, i decided to for mine to protect my filters a bit by adding a single tissue for each day i use it. this has reduced the paint getting on it and kept the air flow high.
That works, good for you.
I swap the filter every 5-10 kits, depending on how slow the airflow gets.
Hey Chris, that kit came out awesome, they are just one mean machine no matter how you make them, great video, great review, great build, appreciate it, appreciate you, talk to you soon have a wonderful day, Happy memorial day
Thanks man, same to you!
kool , thanx....luv that kit , A real classic from Revell
Robert
Thanks Robert!
It's a nice kit I recently build the older version , with the Grim Reaper decals. Went together very well. It is the same kit only difference is the decals.
Cool, the mold mark said 2000 so it's been around for almost 20 years now I guess.
Great job! The car looks very realistic
Thank you!
This was the first boat I drove way back when I was 17.
That looks great man!!!
Thanks William!
When I was teenager in the 70s old Impalas from the 60s were my favorite cars. Always wanted one but, alas, it was not meant to be.
Hafa Adai from Guam hpi guy, beautiful work as always.
Hello back, thanks!
nice! good job on the weathering
Thank you! Cheers!
Your model cars are dope!
Glad you like them!
I still have a package of Pegasus low rider gold wire wheel and tires from the 90's and I now know the perfect ( stereotypical too I might add ) model kit to use them with. Back then the hobby shop had a display case which had model kits people built displayed in it, and a lot of low riders were usually in there. People building those use to use cotton in the back window, around the interior along with the flocking stuff. The store started carrying the Pegasus products which had wheel and tires sets, sub woofers for the trunks, gold plated brake calipers and other odds and ends to "pimp out" your ride. I even remember people taking beer caps and using them for tires which I thought was kinda neat. Anyway watching your video just kind of took me back to that time when low riders and parts were a big thing. Great looking kit and I will sure to be picking up one. After all I have a few Impala kits anyway, seems like that has been a popular model that companies have produced over the years.
I do have some sweet Pegasus wheels, jut need to find the right kit to use them on. Thanks!
Great build i got some good ideas for this kit
Thanks, enjoy!
The only thing;that is missing now,is a scratch built 1:25/1:24 scale figure of Carl Johnson;CJ for short, behind the wheel.Grand Theft Auto San Andreas style man.
As soon as the CJ figure is placed in the completed 64 Chevy Impala, and showing the completed kit in the slide show;at the end of the video;the song playing at the end of the video,is Good Day by Ice cube.
Hey I didn't even have to use my AK! I gotta say it was a good day
Chris, that turned out great! Revell really captured the body shape very well IMO for this ‘64.......much better so than AMT.
AMT to my eyes never got the C pillars right in what was originally an annual. They always appeared “thin” to me.
I’ve got a couple of the previous issues now......some great inspiration to definitely look into building mine! 👌
Thanks for watching man!
yummi side panels.......that was so funny. gorgeous model.great work.
Thanks man!
Really cool bud. I enjoy your vids
Thanks Dave!
My parents had a tan '64 Bel Aire stick shift. My mom put plastic seat covers over the fabric seats (hot in summer, cold in winter). After a couple yrs, the paint job faded into different shades just like your model. Never did like that car! Then we got a cool '68 Chevelle.
Very cool!
looks awesome.great job.as all ways. thanks for sharing. whqen I was 13. we had one with a 409u ,4 speed. bad. thanks take care.
Thanks for watching!
Very cool build
Thank you!
Cool job. That's the same type of car Cheech drove in Up in smoke
Thanks, yup!
Can't wait to this kit!
Enjoy it!
Our neighbor got a screaming deal in '64 on a new Impala SS 327, buckets, center council, floor shift, rear speaker, white interior with red dash and trim. Outside totally black. It was a screw up on the order. Someone ordered a red car with white interior and the order taker "accidentally" wrote the code for black exterior. The car had an odd look - if you didn't know the story it looked weird! Your car's story reminded me. Great build. I'll meet you over at one of your other fine videos. Keep goin'.
Thanks for sharing...
P.S. you know what kit I'm about to order.
Enjoy your kit!
Thinking an “Up in smoke” Cheech Marin/Pedro build might be in order here. Hmmm, how to make that fur interior?
This has inspired me to build Cheech's love machine in the near future.
Yup, that is a great car.
Dad you are the absolute best and a great looking model very well done!!!😀😃😄😁😋😛
Thanks!
Earl Scheib....we make your car look new! When's the last time anyone heard that jingle? Great job Chris
Around here it's Maaco paint lol
Riigghhtttttt
Loved that guy!
Great idea to build it this way
Thanks David!
Not gonna be super judgmental but Revell is the choice when it comes to AMT and Revell. Hpi did AMTs 1963 Chevy and it didnt have a opening trunk and it lacked detail but this is full on beautiful, Revell is what you want if you want detail
The background music made me think of a video game for some reason Mario lol nice work
Thats a good kit, I have the AMT version and it has less parts, a solid chassis, only hood opens.
Cool!
super sick build, it would be really cool if you switched it up a little and did a build and review on a aoshima or fujimi kit from overseas, keep up the awesome vids
I have, feel free to browse the reviews on the channel, thanks for watching!
So very cool Chris...The year I was born!! LOL
Nice, thanks Todd!
Man you got dwn you should make a rusted up Chevy impala next that would be awesome 😎
Love the vidios great tips the 68 chevelle was awsome but id would have jacked it up in back use number boards off the sprues on frame then put springs and rear on it looks better i think but great builds love it
If you like cars with jacked back ends, sounds like an easy way to do it, cool.
Okay. Thanks for the tip 😄
Love the puertorican song. Mentions my home town a few times
Very cool!
It could be built with dropped springs in the back for the low rider and large springs up front to mimic it "dancing"
Love it!
Cruisin down the street in my 64
Hahaha, yup!
Man, awesome job AGAIN!!! Love how you weathered it up like a real one. Question: do you ever have problems getting that paint to lay right? Meaning, I've had some problems where it didn't lay down a glossy finish, as I wanted it to! Or, it spit out small particles on the surface. You seem to always get it laying down perfect? I mean, even before you put the floor gloss on it, it's nice & shinny! But I do most of my painting outside. Would that have anything to do with it?
Outside you have a big chance of stuff landing in the paint and the paint drying too much mid-air.
The temp and air is much more stable ad clean in the basement, but I still have defects here and there.
Easy-E liked this video! 😁
Sweet!
Nice car, I see you like to make the cars look realistic, in real life front wheels on Lowriders with hydraulics are cambered, you should do that on the next lowrider you do
Looks good slammed !
I think so too!
Very cool! I really like your background stories for your builds.
How did you do the greasy spots by the door handles and gas door?
Thanks Michael!
I used Army Painter Soft Tone tint.
Very nice !!!
Thanks Gera!
Great build. I’m thinking about building the “Up In Smoke” one driven by Cheech Marin. I was wondering what material you would suggest to make the fur interior? All help would be a great help. Thanks
Maybe felt brushed to make it fuzzy?
facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
Great build! Might get this kit, do you often get dust particles in the paint and do you have any tips to prevent or reduce that problem?
Rarely, but I don't worry about it a lot either since I don't do show builds.
Thanks for posting this I am just getting back into the hobby after a long absance, one question where did you get the turntables you use in your paint booth?
Those are Tamiya Paint Stands
One of my favorites! Please tell us why you used Windex, Chris. Thanks 🙏.
Craft paints are water based, windex has water and alcohol and ammonia so it breaks up the paint better, makes it easier to spray.
Did you keep the kit chrome on the bumpers and just apply dull coat or did you remove the stock kit chrome and re-paint new chrome and dull it?
Dull over the factory chrome
What kind of silver pencil do you use? I have problems with the pencil showing up on the paint.
I use a Sharpie marker.
For flat surfaces any silver pencil from the craft store works. I change brands all the time.
How does the body look? I just realized mine is not good, the side trim is not in the proper place and the right side body line isn't complete. How is yours?
Did the back window impala decal come in the kit?
What masking tape do you use?
Are the tail lights installed correctly, they look big
With that music in the sideshow, I could just hear the airhorn playing la cucaracha as he's passing by a friend in his neighborhood. Is this a 100% re-release, or did they do like with the '69 Mustang and added some new tooled parts in this?
As far as I know it's a straight reissue.
I just got this and I don’t know what I should paint or build
Start with step one and you'll figure it out.
Pls explain the use of windex. Why is it better than thinners? Great video! Very entertaining, good pace.
Thanks!
No one said it was 'better' than thinner just to make that clear.
I use it with craft paints because it works very well, is cheap and easily available.
Nice jod on the impala
Thanks Richard!
Hi Chris great build, have you been hanging out ln the hood to get some ideas
Haha ,watched too many 90s in the hood movies!
How do u make the tires stay on the car the ones that I build they fall off all the time and by the way what a beautiful build love ur builds
Om this kit they just snap on. Others it takes a drop of super glue.
What do you do with all your models after they are done?
Store most, display some, give away others to friends or family that like them.
Nice build. Took me a minute to figure out where it was going but I got it. Earl Scheib, now that's a name I haven't heard in years! I'll paint any car any color for $99.95! Are they even still around?
Thanks Mike. I think there are some places that use the name but the company is defunct as far as I know.
What kind of spray paint do you use ?
The paints are listed in the painting section of the video. Thanks!
I have a 64 impala .painted blue also nice looking.not finished yet.maybe this summer.how many times do. You change the breather. Filter looks mighty dirty.
I swap the filter every 5-10 kits, depending on how slow the airflow gets.
do you use rustoleum primer?
Yes
different way to finish the body as old and weathered, most would of built the low ride all flashy I like this as a work in progress look
Thanks Craig!
What do you do for headliners?
Hand paint it in as needed.
Do you ever use krylon or only rustoleum
Yup, I've used it. It's much more thin than Rustoleum but works good when I've used it.
Tuff ... could just hear War singing
“Low rider”
How do you get the tile grout to stick?
Static, it clings to anything.
@@hpiguy
thanks
I got a question what's the difference between using plain old rubbing alcohol and Windex ?
Windex is mostly water with some alcohol and ammonia. Rubbing alcohol can be too strong and also dry out the tip of the airbrush too fast, clogging it.
@@hpiguy Thanx I know I need to go out and buy a gallon of Windex then thanks
