    Good job...as a retired Union Pipefitter I was glad you are one of few installing a debris trap for the intake gas.

    I needed the following parts for the latest (as of Dec 2017) model; A 1/2 inch or metric L key to remove the plug. Best to carry the heater to get the exact fit. If you want to connect to a yellow gas line: 1 male to male 3/8 to 1/2 inch coupler (the heater is 3/8), 1 elbow and 1 gas nipple. Again, best to take the yellow line to HW store if you can.

    Thanks for this video, I just bought this exact heater, and yet to install it, seeing it done and the way you hooked up off the water heater gave me a better understanding overall of the whole process and an some ideas of if I should put my supply gas tee in the same spot as you did or right where the main gas supply line comes in?(from this spot it gives me a better angle down low to around the base of the heater) because I'm hoping of routing the flex yellow hose down around the base of the water heater (water heater is mounted on wood pedestal) and up on the wall leading to the wall heater, just for aesthetic purposes.

      @CraigCollins  Před 6 lety

      The Tee shouldn't matter if its at the water heater. I have a shutoff valve at the water heater for the off season and if i want to disconnect the heater.

    Thank you for posting this video. I am looking to use this same heater with propane- do you ever get any gas fumes with this unit? Do you know of anyone using this with propane, and have they ever had fumes? Is a sediment trap necessary if using propane?

    Only thing I would recommend is your t come off at the wall and not the water heater in case of a leak. You should be able to shut the units off independently. Just a safety issue which could maybe never cause an issue...until it does. Great video though and we are looking into this unit.

      Armando Ivan Zamora Bravo I live in Chi too and mine works great. I do have an electric blower motor inside of it the helps a bit, I also keep a ceiling fan going for better circulation. Been working great for over 12 years now. Picked up at Menards.

    • @CraigCollins
      @CraigCollins  Před 4 lety

      Do you mean a selector for propane or natural gas? There is no selector you have use one of the 2 ports. One is natural gas the other is propane.

      From the heater, it requires a 3/8" nipple. I sued 3/8" for my sediment trap, all the way to my flex-line connection. I came off the T at the sediment trap with a 3/8" nipple to 3/8" flare.

    • @MrSilvernblackblood
      @MrSilvernblackblood Před 6 lety

      Craig Collins , hi Craig good video, hey I was wondering a few things. Are the size of the pipe adaptors needed indicated in the manual? and did you follow those sizes? Do you know if there is dual pipe adaptor or valve, I was thinking about creating this right where the main gas line comes in after the shut off control valve, what do you think about this?

    • @CraigCollins
      @CraigCollins  Před 6 lety

      I have a shutoff valve at the heater also. As far as pipe size I matched the size going to my water heart. The manual doesn't say but does recommend a pressure test because high of pressure will damage the heater. Test Pressure Equal To or Less Than ½ psig (3.5 kPa)

    • @MrSilvernblackblood
      @MrSilvernblackblood Před 6 lety

      Craig Collins how do you pressure test it? What tool do you need to do this? Did you pressure test yours?
