    i have the 30,000 unit in the instruction it say i need a pressures regulator but all the vids i seen no one says any thing about it. Also wont the pipe dope degrade the telon tape i thought it was use one ot the other not both any extra clarity would be great

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Thanks for checking in! This is how I’ve always hooked these up. I put carbon monoxide and fire alarms in also and never had a problem so far. Except maybe once in a blue moon, if it wasn’t turned on properly or something. I’m not a professional plumber but I have seen these hooked up just this same way in lots of houses. I think you can get as crazy as you want to and the crazier you get the safer you will be. And if the Teflon tape does degrade, there will be plenty of pipe dope still left. You could just use pipe dope if you would like. That would be fine as well! Hopefully this helps some!

    So the products of combustion vent in to the room ?

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před rokem +1

      These burn very efficient, you will have little combustion. In my experience it’s worth the risk in Oklahoma because temperatures drop below 0 often. Pick your poison. Also price is under $200 in comparison to central heat and air that is 15 to 20k. It wouldn’t be on the shelf if they thought it would be extremely dangerous in my opinion. But I’m not a doctor or nothing.

    Question just got mine installed how does the thermostat work? If the room is already warm would it turn on at 1? 2? 3? Because ours turns on on 5

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před rokem +2

      Okay, I see well mine, I did not adjust or anything. I just hooked it up the way it came but mine will turn on in a warm room at about 3 and 5 is a bit to hot most days but will still shut on and off when it gets to hot or to cold automatically. How hot is your room if it’s pretty cold like 50 degrees it would probably come on at 1 or 2

    I’m replacing an old similar unit with a new one , the gas line doesn’t have a sediment trap , could that damaged my new unit

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you want me to be honest, you could just hook it up like it was before without a sediment trap. I just upgraded mine since I was doing it anyway but older homes didn’t have them. That’s my two cents at your own risk. It should be just fine. But I’m not the one all be all. I have seen it though and it worked before so it would work again that’s all I gotta say about that. Ha ha.! Hopefully this helps you brother!

      @@GrantKeysProperties thanks for the tip , the old unit was 25 years old , it had an internal leak and the oxygen depletion sensor didn’t shut it off , time for a new one , plus when i remove the old one I may just get t adapter, mine was hooked directly to the pipe so that’s good I won’t have to spend money on a flexible gas line

    What's the difference between the blue flame vs red

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Blue-flame heaters are ideal for insulated spaces, while infrared heaters work best in uninsulated!

    So if you don’t have an existing gas line, are you pretty much forced to use propane?

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Yes, basically because your probably not in the city limits and only have propane options. But you would hook it up the same way.

    • @reedr7142
      @reedr7142 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@GrantKeysProperties Thanks. Any idea how much propane these draw? Would a day of use drain a significant amount?

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@reedr7142 You would use a big propane tank, like 300 gallons or more and a 500 gallon tank would last all winter using it every day roughly.

    You think i could use this on a camper and hook up a 20lb propane tank?

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před rokem +2

      Yeah, you could do that as long as your camper can handle the heat. You might get the one that is one size smaller depending on the size of your camper. It’s cheaper too from Lowe’s also!

    nice work. im wondering if this model can be tapped directlyto my oil tank. i finished my basement and removed the furnace and ducts but leaving the oil tank due to have still 150 gallons on it. i would like to take advantage on that and thinking tapping this heater you demonstrate

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 7 měsíci +1

      That sounds like it makes sense to me when you say oil tank though it’s not oil correct? It’s propane or natural gas?? Sorry I guess I just don’t understand the oil tank part. It sounds like you’re just using an oil tank container to hold the gas is that correct?

    • @ad78
      @ad78 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@GrantKeysProperties they called it oil tank but inside its a clean diesel.

    • @GrantKeysProperties
      @GrantKeysProperties  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@ad78 I see well I’m not sure if the blue flame wall heater can operate on diesel. I would research that first. If it doesn’t, you could drain the tank and figure out how to clean it and then fill it with propane or natural gas. That would be my suggestion before you just hook it up just to make sure that its safe and wouldn’t damage the heater. But that oil tank ideas actually a great idea. I might look into that for a property off grid or something!
