  • The fall season sure is a great and popular time to bring the trains out and go for a ride, especially when the railroads are providing some unique opportunities. The same can be said about the Little River Railroad as they were operating both of their steam locomotives No. 110 and 1 during the October Sundays of 2016. With one at each end of the train, the duo performed an interesting push-pull operation between Coldwater and Quincy, Michigan.
We were there on October 23, 2016 with the sun shining on the fall foliage, making the colors instantly pop!

Their 110 is a sweet little engine! First Mogul I've seen in tourist service. That rear truck under the engine must help when she's running backward.

Fantastic work right here. The sound quality is amazing. Nice to see other railfans paying attention to this neat little railroad! It's "close to home" for me, so I rarely get out to shoot it these days.

I was there chasing as well. I believe I said hi to you at Ridge Road. Great coverage!

I never noticed No 1 had a Chinese headlight until now. Looks like it’s off an SY.

    110 is 2-8-2 not a 4-6-2.

Is the 110 a coal burner or a oil burner?

Coal believe it or not. Looks like oil smoke, though.
